William R. Reinhart

Died: Monday, September 24, 2012

With great sadness we mourn the loss of William R. Reinhart, 61, who passed away suddenly on Sept. 24. “Wills” was the beloved husband of Claudia Reinhart, president of the Three Village Teachers Association and devoted and loving father of Mark and father-in-law of Erin.

He is survived by his brother, Andy and sisters, Andrea Kassa and Alison Antonucci. Wills was a faithful son-in-law and friend of Rose Pollera, a loving brother-in-law to Anthony and Kerrin Pollera and Deirdre and Bill Tunney and affectionate uncle to 11 nieces and nephews.

An advertising executive with BBDO in Manhattan, Wills retired in 2006 after 28 years with the firm. Using his imaginative and creative talents, Wills dedicated much of his time volunteering for student musicals at R.C. Murphy JHS and scholarship shows for the TVTA. He also spent years working with the Three Village Musical Theater Company. He will be sorely missed by family, friends and students.

Arrangements were entrusted to Casimir Funeral Home with Requiem Mass at St. Louis de Montfort R.C. Church. Internment followed at St. James Churchyard Cemetery, Setauket.

Donations in memory of Wills Reinhart can be made to the Three Village Musical Theatre Company Scholarship Fund. Checks made payable to the TVMTC Scholarship Fund can be mailed to TVMTC, P.O. Box 2071, Miller Place, NY 11764.

Thomas J. O'Keefe

Died: Friday, November 16, 2012

Thomas J. O’Keefe of Rocky Point died on Nov. 16. He was the beloved husband of Josephine; loving father of Eric (Jungmin) and Maria Huddleston (Norman); cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Anthony, Connor and Hailie; adored brother of Cathleen Bozzella (John) and the late Mary Allen and the late David O’Keefe (survived by his wife, Diana). Thomas is also survived by many more loving family and friends.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Rocky Point. Interment was private. Online guest book at www.obdavismillerplace.com.

Arrangements were entrusted to the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes of Miller Place.

Anthony Guzzardo

Died: Monday, November 12, 2012

Anthony Guzzardo, age 94, of Ridge, died Monday, Nov. 12. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Nicholas and the late Gussie (Giambalvo) Guzzardo.

Mr. Guzzardo served in the United States Navy during World War II from April 26, 1944 to Feb. 7, 1946. He was employed as an inspector by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine Cafiero of Syosset; sons, Kenneth Guzzardo of Medford and Anthony Guzzardo of Virginia; and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Randazzo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am today, Thursday, Nov. 15, at St. Mark’s R.C. Church, 105 Randall Road, Shoreham, with Monsignor Jeffrey J. Madley officiating. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery at 11:15 am.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.

Georgyne H. Chronin

Died: Saturday, November 10, 2012

Georgyne H. Chronin, age 65, of Ridge, died Saturday, Nov. 10. She was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Adamick) Chronin. She was employed by the New York Police Department as a clerical aide.

Mrs. Chronin is survived by her husband, Edward; her mother; sister, Jenice Morgan of East Hampton; brother, John Chronin of Brooklyn; one great-grandchild; two nephews; two nieces; and one great-nephew.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Nov. 14 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church in Rocky Point, the Rev. Richard P. Hoerning officiating. Burial followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.

Caroline Genovese

Died: Saturday, November 10, 2012

Caroline Genovese of Selden died on Nov. 10. She was born icon Sept. 9, 1939, in the Bronx. Mrs. Genovese was the beloved wife of the late Frank Genovese; loving mother of Karen Dawes, Christine Nolan and Tracy Genovese; cherished grandmother of eight; dear sister of Bertha Smith and two brothers.

Visitation will be held today, Thursday, Nov. 15, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station. Service Friday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 am, Hope Lutheran Church, Selden. Interment, Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Axel Bay

Died: Wednesday, November 07, 2012

Axel Bay of Huntington died on Nov. 7 at the age of 80. He was the beloved husband of Elfriede Bay; loving father of Walter (Cathy) Bay, Robert Bay and Steven (Linda) Bay; cherished grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of three.

A funeral service was held Nov. 11 and prayers were held Nov. 12 at the funeral home. Interment was at Melville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the VAMC Northport, 79 Middleville Road, Northport, NY 11768 would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to the Brueggemann Funeral Home of East Northport; www.bfhli.com.

Palma DeBellis

Died: Monday, November 05, 2012

Palma DeBellis, longtime resident of Smithtown, died on Nov. 5. She was the cherished wife of Pat; loving mother of Dianne (Robert) Comiskey, Joan (John) Franco and Frank (Donna) DeBellis; dear Grandma of seven; Great-Grandma of eight; and devoted sister of Anna Falcone.

Friends may call at the St. James Funeral Home, South Chapel, 829 Middle Country Rd. (Rte 25A), St. James today, Nov. 8, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Nov. 9, at 10 am at Sts. Philip & James R.C. Church. Interment to follow at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Victory Homes of Charity, 780 Ridge Rd., Lackawanna, NY 14218-1682 or American Lung Association.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Maher Family of the St. James Funeral Home, in St. James.

William Corbett

Died: Monday, November 05, 2012

William Corbett of Selden died on Nov. 5. He was born icon Feb. 25, 1929, in New York City.

Mr. Corbett was the beloved husband of the late Florence; loving father of William Corbett, Michael Corbett, Jeanne Corbett, Darlene Corbett and David Corbett and his wife, Tracy; cherished grandfather of Michael; dear brother of John Corbett, Mary T. Corbett, James Corbett and Kathleen Lawrence.

A funeral was held Nov. 9 followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery.

Mary Ann Elizabeth Bonan

Died: Friday, November 02, 2012

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Bonan of Palm City, Fla., died Nov. 2, at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Fla. She was 88.

Mrs. Bonan was born icon Mary Elizabeth Martin in Philadelphia, Pa., the middle daughter of K. Marion and William G. Martin, and grew up in Pottsville, Pa., with her sisters Kay and Cecelia. There she met Eugene J. Bonan. They were married icon in 1948 after Mr. Bonan served in World War II.

The Bonans lived most of their lives in Stony Brook, and raised two sons, Jim, a retired Sony executive who lives in Potomac, Md., and Marty, an attorney in Palm City, Fla.

The Bonans retired to Palm City in 1994. Betty’s husband, Gene, predeceased her in 1998. She is survived by her sons, Jim and Marty; their wives Pat and Liz; as well as her five grandchildren: Michael, Thomas and Jennifer Bonan of Palm City, Fla., and Nicole and Jamie Bonan of Potomac, Md.

Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who liked nothing better than keeping current and involved in the lives of her family. She was an enthusiastic email user and conversationalist. She will be missed dearly by all.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Palm City. Burial entombment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the National Audubon Society at www.audubon.org.

Joseph J. Johnston Sr.

Died: Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Joseph J. Johnston Sr., age 93, died on Oct. 30 after a short illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Emily (née Christensen); father of Joseph Jr., Judith Hardman (Joseph) and Patricia Thomas; grandfather of Sarah Ray (Steve), Joanna Hardman (Henry Falconer), and Julia Hardman.

In addition to his beloved wife, he was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Catherine and three siblings, Robert Jr., Christine Cronin and Catherine.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, life member in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

The family wishes to thank Vincent Gerardi for being such a good friend to their father.

Services will be private.

Ronald Milano

Died: Monday, October 29, 2012

Ronald Milano, age 77, of Smithtown passed on Oct. 29.

They Shall Not Be Forgotten.

He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Milano was the beloved husband of Sheila; loving father of Jean (Gregory) Kern and Frank (Debra) Milano; adored stepfather of Denise Lomangino and Richard (Tricia) Diehl; cherished grandfather of Danielle, Alisa, Lauren, Anthony, Alyssa, Lou and Steven; devoted son-in-law of Loretta Lanigan.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Smithtown. Interment followed at Smithtown Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Vigliante family of The Branch Funeral Home of Smithtown.

Frank C. Gehr

Died: Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Frank C. Gehr, 56 years old, a longtime community resident, died Sept. 19. He was born icon June 5, 1956, in New York, the son of Charles and Mary Gehr.

Dr. Frank C. Gehr was a doctor of psychology. He had a love for the arts and supported them. He was an artist, creative writer and poet by hobby.

He is survived by his life partner, Rafael Rogers and their adoring feline, Anders; and sisters, Deborah Gehr and Patricia Cubbage.

Dr. Gehr believed in a combination of spirituality, psychology and medicine to heal.

He worked with not-for-profit organizations and helped many people with his skills. He was extremely compassionate and loving, and very intelligent.
