Helen Braunstein, 90, lawyer, businesswoman in Schenectady
GUILDERLAND - Mrs. Helen Nachman Braunstein, 90, of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, formerly of Schenectady, died Monday at the home.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Braunstein was a 1927 graduate of Albany Law School.
She practiced law for several years in Schenectady. She later worked in business with her husband in the operation of the Fairmont Dairy in Schenectady and Meehan's Express Trucking Co. in Schenectady.
Mrs. Braunstein was a member of Congregation Agudat Achim and its Sisterhood in Schenectady. She was a member and former president of the Schenectady Chapter of Hadassah and was past regional president of Junior Hadassah. She was a member of the Board of the Bureau of Jewish Education in Schenectady and was a member of the School Board at Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady.
Her husband, Samuel Braunstein, died in 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Joette Krupa of Niskayuna; a son, Mordecai Braunstein of New York City; and four grandchildren.
The service will be held at 1 this afternoon at Agudat Achim Cemetery Chapel, Schermerhorn Street, Rotterdam.
Burial will be in Agudat Achim Cemetery, Rotterdam.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady Chapter of Hadassah or Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, N.Y. 12084.
The period of mourning will be observed throughout the week at the Krupa residence, 2330 Shirl Lane, Niskayuna.
Arrangements are by the Levine Memorial Chapel, Albany.

Helen Glendenning
SCOTIA - Mrs. Helen Martinec Glendenning, 82, of Ballston Avenue, died Sunday at the Baptist Retirement Center after a long illness.
Born in Scotia, Mrs. Glendenning was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Scotia High School. She attended the Cobleskill College.
Mrs. Glendenning was a proofreader at the former Maqua Co. for more than 30 years before retiring.
Survivors include a sister, Ethel A. Martinec of Scotia; and a brother, Edward W. Martinec of Scotia.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, First Street.
Visitation will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave.
Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Joseph's Church, 201 First St., Scotia 12302 or the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia 12302.

Irene Voehringer
BALLSTON SPA - Mrs. Irene Voehringer, 86, of Goode Street, died Monday at the Maplewood Manor after a short illness.
Mrs. Voehringer was a lifelong Ballston Spa resident.
Her husband, Rudolph Voehringer, died in 1970.
Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Spoonogle and Barbara Voehringer, both of Ballston Lake, Arlene Ostrander of Galway, and Martha Baker and Kathy Rybicki, both of Ballston Spa; three sons, Richard Voehringer of Ballston Spa, Robert Voehringer of Easily, S.C., and Frederick Voehringer of Hadley; a brother, Irving Twitchell of Udora, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Burial will be in Briggs Cemetery, Ballston.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 25 Hyde Blvd.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ballston Lake Emergency Squad or the Albany unit of the American Diabetes Association.

John F. Engelhardt
BALLSTON SPA - John F. Engelhardt Jr., 50, of Malta Avenue, died Sunday at home after a long illness.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Engelhardt was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He later served in the Navy on the USS Kittyhawk.
He was a radio announcer at several local radio stations for many years, including WZZM in Glens Falls.
Mr. Engelhardt was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and American Legion Post 234.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Engelhardt; a daughter, Jacqualine Coulombe of Ballston Spa; his mother, Jewell Engelhardt of Cincinnati; two sisters, Pamela Rittner of Lebanon, Ohio, and Barbara Helmes of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church, West High Street.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Armer Funeral Home, 39 E. High St., during which members of the American Legion will meet at 7:30.
Burial will be in Ballston Spa Cemetery.

John J. Nash, 62, was officer in volunteer fire organizations
WATERFORD - John J. Nash, 62, of First Street, an officer in several volunteer fire organizations, died Sunday at Albany Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Troy, Mr. Nash was educated in Watervliet and moved to Waterford in 1966. He was a patient at the Firemen's Home in Hudson.
Mr. Nash worked for 22 years at the former Sterling Drug Co. in Rensselaer, retiring in 1979 due to disability.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Nash was a member of the Waterford-Halfmoon Fire Department, the Schuyler Heights Fire Department, the Firemen's Association of the State of New York, the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Hudson-Mohawk Volunteer Firemen's Association.
He was a charter member and former president of the Volunteer Firematic Judging Association, a member and former president of the Royal Order of Blue Vests and Royal Order of Yellow Vests. He was also a member of American Legion Post 1450 in Halfmoon and the Cohoes-Waterford Elks Lodge.
Mr. Nash was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Sullivan Nash; four brothers, William T. Nash of Loudonville, and Thomas, James and Martin Nash, all of Watervliet; and a sister, Theresa Carmel of Clifton Park.
The services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
Calling hours will be from 4 this afternoon until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the endowment fund at the Firemen's Home in Hudson in care of the funeral home.

Joseph W. Groom
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Joseph W. Groom of Arrowhead Road died Friday at Saratoga Hospital.
He served in the Marine Corps.
There are no known survivors.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
Arrangements are by the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home.

Loretta Davidsen
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Loretta Brautigam Davidsen, 91, of Bradford Road, died Friday at Eden Park Nursing Home, Albany.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Davidsen was a graduate of St. Joseph's School and Albany State Teachers College.
For more than 40 years, she was an elementary teacher in the city school system, retiring 24 years ago.
Mrs. Davidsen was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and a member of its Rosary Society.
She was a volunteer for the Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops.
Mrs. Davidsen was a retired member of the Schenectady Teachers and New York State Teachers Associations.
Her husband, William E. Davidsen Sr., died in 1959.
Survivors include a son, William E. Davidsen Jr. of Schenectady; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., followed at 9 at St. Paul the Apostle Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Spring burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, State Street.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Margaret J. Acker
AMSTERDAM - Margaret J. Acker, 75, of the Hillcrest Spring Residential Adult Care and of Locust Avenue, died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam, Miss Acker was a lifelong city resident.
She was a typist and file clerk for the Amsterdam Printing and Litho Co., and later for the New York State Police at its Albany campus, retiring in 1983.
Miss Acker was a communicant of the United Methodist Church of Amsterdam.
Survivors include several cousins.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Betz Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave.
Calling hours will be from 2 this afternoon until 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Spring burial will be in Hagaman Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the United Methodist Church of Amsterdam.
