Carl R. Jennings
Mr. Carl R. Jennings, 77, of West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2002, at Samuel Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Albany, N.Y., after a long illness.
He was born on March 25, 1924, in the town of Lisle, N.Y. (Broome County), a son of Ray H. and Nina Leet Jennings. He was a graduate of Marathon Central School. He was a town of Palatine resident since 1955, previously living in Killawog, N.Y.
Mr. Jennings was formerly employed by Service Employee International Union Local 2 of Window Cleaner's Union in New York City for over 25 years, retiring in 1989. He was also formerly employed by Lee Publications.
Mr. Jennings was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Third Army.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, the former Almarine Peterson, whom he married
on March 20, 1948, in Cambridge, Md.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond C. and Gaile Jennings of Amsterdam, N.Y., Wendell W. and Kathy Jennings of Nelliston, N.Y., and Jack W. and Sharon Jennings of Bakerfield, Calif.; two brothers, John Jennings of Monticello, S.C. and George W. Jennings of Marathon, N.Y.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Ward and Robert Jennings.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at the funeral home. The Rev. David Bowley of the Faith, Hope & Love Christian Fellowship of Canajoharie will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Fonda, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
Frank J. Sherman Jr.
Mr. Frank J. Sherman Jr., 92, of Caroga Lake, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home, Gloversville, after a brief illness.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1909, in Gloversville, the son of Frank J. and Della Hines Sherman.
Mr. Sherman operated the Sherman's Amusement Park in Caroga Lake. He and his brother, Floyd, took over the business in 1955 when their father died. Mr. Sherman then purchased the business from his brother and continued operation until it was sold in 1970.
He was known also as an amateur inventor.
Mr. Sherman was predeceased by his wife, Rose Perkins Sherman, whom he married
May 28, 1929. She died on Oct. 15, 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Shepard of Johnstown and Fay Allen of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy Hoffman of Dolgeville; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Floyd Sherman.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.
Friends may call on Sunday prior to the service, from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will be in Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
Connie Cramer Stahl
Connie Cramer Stahl, 37, of Northville died Thursday night at Nathan Littauer Hospital of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Aug. 3, 1964, the daughter of Harold and Gale Miller Cramer. She was a graduate of Northville Central School and BOCES. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1982-1994. She worked for Temper Corp. in Fonda and was presently employed by General Electric Co. as a machinist.
Her husband, Pat Stahl, whom she married
May 18, 1991, survives her. Additional survivors are her daughters, Christina, Shannon and Erin Stahl at home. One stepdaughter, Alison Stahl who is serving in the U.S. Navy. Her father and stepmother, Harold and Helen Cramer of Northville, N.Y. One brother, Kenneth Cramer and his wife, Sheila of Mayfield, N.Y. Sisters Mary Jo Gibbons of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Yvette Handy and her husband, Bill, of Mayfield, N.Y., Yvonne Czado and her husband, Bob, of Danbury, C.T., and Sue Ann Rouse of Gloversville, N.Y. Several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. Burial will take place in Prospect Hill cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Connie Cramer Stahl Scholarship Fund C/O City National Bank, 231 Bridge St., Northville.
Antoinette Mazzoli
Antoinette Mazzoli, 87, of N. Second St., Northville, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital following a short illness.
Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Oct. 24, 1914, she was the daughter of Gaetano and Adelie Legura Garofalo. She spent her youth in Harlem, N.Y. She was a homemaker and resident of Northville since 1992, coming from Astoria, Queens. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Northville.
Her husband, Thomas Mazzoli, whom she married
May 12, 1935, died Nov. 23, 1991. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Mazzoli of Fort Lauderdale, FL and William Mazzoli of Edinburg, NY. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 noon Monday at St. Francis Church, Northville. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville. Entombment will be in Pine Lawn cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church or the Northampton Ambulance Corps.
Ryan Bradley Green
Ryan Bradley Green was stillborn and died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at Albany Medical Center.
He is survived by his parents Bradley and Alecia Mills Green of Gloversville, maternal grandparents John and Elinor Mills of Gloversville, maternal great grandfather Alex Aesch of Johnstown, paternal grandparents Jerry and Patricia Green of Mayfield, paternal great grandparents Bevan and Gladys Tyler of Fultonville and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A private service will be held Tuesday at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Dr. Alan C. Rhodes officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill cemetery, Gloversville. Alyce J. Moore
Alyce J. Moore, 70, of Gloversville, died Thursday at Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility.
She was born on April 26, 1931 in Amsterdam, N.Y., the daughter of John and Jane Chorzelewski Hourigan. She graduated in the class of 1949 from St. Mary's High School, Amsterdam, N.Y. She later received her R.N. degree from Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.
Mrs. Moore was a resident of Gloversville for over 50 years. She was employed as a registered nurse at Nathan Littauer Hospital and worked at private residences in the Fulton County area. She was a night supervisor for the Fulton County Infirmary, where she was employed for 20 years and retired in 1990.
She was a member of Nathan Littauer Hospital Nurses Alumni, the C.S.E.A. Retirees and 55 Plus Senior Citizens of Gloversville.
Mrs. Moore was survived by her husband, Gerald E. Moore, whom she married
Nov. 12, 1954. She is also survived by two daughters, Pamela Meier of Fairport, N.Y. and Valerie Jones of Asheboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Lauren Ives and Jessica Ives, both of Fairport, N.Y. and several aunts.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Wayne Jones will officiate. Interment will take place at Ferndale cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
Charles Ernest Wooster
Charles Ernest Wooster, age 85, of Caroga Lake, NY, died Friday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1916, in South Thomaston Maine, the son of Oscar E. and Florence M. Hall Wooster.
Mr. Wooster was a graduate of Rockland, Maine High School and was a resident of South Portland, Maine for over 50 years before moving to New York state. After his graduation from high school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. and helped to build the beginning of the Appalachian Trail in Greenville, Maine.
He was employed for forty years by the International Harvester Corp. of Portland, Maine, retiring in 1981.
He was predeceased by his wife, Norma Robbins, and later predeceased by his second wife, Gladyce Barrett. He was also predeceased by a step-daughter, Phyllis Startz; one brother, Kendall Wooster.
He is survived by his present wife, Sara Wooster, of Caroga Lake; two step-sons, Gary Burlock and Ronald Hartley, both of Connecticut; one daughter, Linda Watta, of East Point, Mich; one step-daughter, Edythe Dubar, of Topsham, Maine; one brother, Henry Wooster of Stanton, CA; several grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation or services from the funeral home. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville.
