Stella G. Corneles

WATERLOO - Mrs. Stella G. Corneles, of 1909 Mills Road, died Monday, June 16, 2003 in Geneva General Hospital.
In keeping with Stella's wishes there were no calling hours. The funeral service was held Thursday, June 19 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo. The Rev. Eugene Weis, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery in Phelps, with the Rev. Edward Dillon of St. Felix/St. Francis Parish of Phelps, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary's Education Fund.
Stella was born in Superior, Wis., the daughter of Stanley and Frances Kowalcik Pesarek. Stella graduated from DeSales High School in Geneva and has been a resident of Waterloo since 1958. She was involved with Corneles Real Estate for 18 years, and developed the Corneles Sub-division on Mills Road. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Waterloo. she was involved with the Waterloo Seniors and Seneca Seniors, and the Phelps Golden Agers.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis (Sharon) Corneles and Henry Corneles, both of Rochester, and Michael Corneles of San Leandro, Calif.; one daughter, Kathleen (Roy) Rossignol of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth F. Corneles, Oct. 10, 1990.
Arrangements were by the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo.

Huldah A. Gibbs

SHORTSVILLE - Huldah A. Gibbs, 90, widow of Lawrence Gibbs, died Monday, April 14, 2003.
Friends called Thursday, April 17 at the Sainsbury Funeral Home in Shortsville. Funeral services followed at the funeral home.
Huldah was a home caretaker for the state, and owned and operated a farm with her husband, Lawrence, for many years. She was a member of the Manchester Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons, Stephen, Daniel (Darnell) and David (Yvonne), all of Shortsville; three sisters, Elinora A. Wise of Prattsburg, H.Joyce Terrien of Canandaigua and Lois A. Greene of Yoakum, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Allen and Alfreda Jensen Ayrault; son, Timothy; brother, John Ayrault; and two sisters, Emily Tompkins and Lavilla Underhill.

Donald K. Hoad

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Donald K. Hoad, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2003.
Friends called at the McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home in Palmyra. A funeral service was held Monday, April 14 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Palmyra cemetery.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by son, Donald (Kris) Hoad; stepchildren, Howard Cain, Charles (Judy) Cain, James Cain and Timothy (Ellie) Cain; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Betty) Hoad; sister, Eleanor O'Donnell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette M. Hoad; and stepdaughter, Laura Welch.

Sandra May Jones

NEWARK/PHELPS - Sandra May Jones, 42, died Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, April 16 at the Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home in Newark, with the Rev. Gerald Harris officiating. A graveside service was held Friday, April 18 in Ouleout Valley cemetery Association in Franklin.
Memorials may be made to Clifton Springs Addition Program, 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs.
Sandra was born June 28, 1960, in Sidney, Delaware County, daughter of Robert and Mary Green Jones. She attended Delhi Central School and Midlakes High School. She had resided in Phelps and Newark.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa May Jones, of Newark; mother, Mary Palmeter of Newark; five aunts; and nieces and nephews.

Norman P. Lannon

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Norman P. Lannon, 88, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
Friends called Tuesday, April 15 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services were Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may contribute in Norman's memory to the Finger Lakes Community Center or the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
Norman was born Sept. 12, 1914 in Clifton Springs, the son of Adelbert and Grayce Lannon, and had lived in the area all of his life. He was an avid hunter and lifetime member of the Newark Rod & Gun Club and the NRA. He retired from Wrights Components in 1977.
He is survived by his sons, Daryl (Betty) Lannon of Phelps, Bruce (Mary) Lannon of Murdock, Kan., Brian (Peg) Lannon of Port Gibson, Gary (Mary) Lannon of Clifton Springs and Dean (Pat) Lannon of Clifton Springs; 12 grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances, in 1993; parents, Adelbert and Grayce; brothers, William, Cecil and Vick; and sister, Violet.

Lois F. Wing

PHELPS - Lois F. Wing, 76, of 11 Exchange St., loving wife, mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 at her home after a long and courageous battle.
Friends called Friday, Feb. 28 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Saturday, March 1 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs, with the Rev. Thomas Gramley officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Service or Ontario-Yates Hospice at 756 Pre-emption Rd., Geneva, 14456.
Mrs. Wing was born March 5, 1926, in Stafford, the daughter of the late Merrill and Harriett Miner Weller. She retired from G.W. Lisk of Clifton Springs after 39 years of faithful service. She was also a member of the Geneva Friendship squares and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Wing; daughter, Diane (Jack) Allen of Phelps; son, Donald (Cyndi) Wing of Waterloo; grandchildren, Suzanne (Michael) Schaben of Florida, Robyn (Steven) Schulz of Kentucky, Jon (Francis) Allen of Phelps, Donald Chad Wing, Mykel Wing and Steven Wing of Waterloo; sister, Helen (Paul) Smith of Batavia; brothers, Donald Weller of Batavia, Merrill (Doris) Weller of Batavia, Ken (May) Weller of Florida and Robert (Vi) Weller of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Margarite Rumsey; and grandson, Richard Allen.

Pauline K. Raes Johnson

PHELPS - Pauline K. Johnson, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at Newark Hospital.
Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family in Resthaven cemetery.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Johnson to a charity of one's choice.
Mrs. Johnson was born April 25, 1913, in Phelps, along with her twin brother, Emerick, the daughter of the late Camiel and Angelina VanDemortel Raes. She retired from G.W. Lisk in 1978.
She is survived by her son, Frederick Lee (Margaret) Johnson of Phelps; daughter, Elaine (Ronald) Bliek of Marion; grandchildren, Kathleen (John) Duchesneau of Phelps, Fred (Laurie) Johnson of Seneca Castle, Ronald Bliek of Fairport, Michael Bliek of Marion and Tracy (John) Pagliuso of Marion; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Snyder of Webster and Irene (Robert) Douglas of Union Springs; brother, Clarence (Shirley) Raes of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Dratt Johnson, who died in 1957; brothers and sister, Stan Raes, Edward Raes and Marie Schroo; and a twin brother, Emerick Raes.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.

Kathleen A. Baker

PHELPS - Kathleen A. Baker, 72, of Clifton Street, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital.
The family invited friends of Kathleen's to share with them in the celebration of her life Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 at the Phelps American Legion Home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Union Springs cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Phelps Fire Department Ambulance Fund in Kathleen's memory.
Kathleen was born Aug. 24, 2003, in Union Springs, the daughter of Albert and Rose Burr and graduate with honors from Waterloo High School in 1948. She retired from Genesee Regional Home Care in Newark after 15 years of service. She worked with her husband at the Phelps Hotel and Owney's Bar and Grill for many years.
She is survived by her children, Michael T. Baker, Daniel R. Baker, Theresa Rowley and Mary M. Baker, all of Phelps; six grandchildren, Derek Baker, Joshua Baker, Kersten Adams, Jackie Rowley, Jim Rowley II and Angela Baker; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Eacker Funeral Home in Phelps.

Robert L. Pierce Sr.

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Robert L. Pierce Sr., 87, passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Family and friends called Sunday, Feb. 16 at John C. Johnson Funeral Home in Canandaigua. Robert's funeral service was celebrated Monday, Feb. 17 at the United Methodist Church in Clifton Springs. Burial will be in Pinebank cemetery in Cheshire at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in Robert's memory may be made to the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, Noah Building Fund.
Robert was born Oct. 5, 1915, in East Bloomfield, the son of the late Leon and Barbara Pierce. He owned and operated a dairy farm for 22 years, and worked for West Side Electric in Cheshire until his retirement in 1978.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth Converse Pierce; three daughters, Carolyn (Hal) Wilson of Clifton Springs, Joan (Charles) Brown of Clifton Springs and Ellen (Don) Miller of Canandaigua; two sons, Robert L. (Diana) Pierce Jr. of Clifton Springs and David (Carol) Pierce of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Bernard L. Pierce of Canandaigua; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Melvin; sister, Ida Higley; grandson, Daniel Pierce; and a granddaughter, Stacey Brown.

Robert W. "Bob" Gillespie

SENECA FALLS/PHELPS - Robert W. "Bob" Gillespie, 79, of 55 Park St., died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan.
Friends called Friday, Feb. 21 at the Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home in Seneca Falls. The Kirk-Casey American Legion Post #366 Honor Guard conducted a military service on Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 22 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Marilyn Foster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Seneca Falls, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phelps Fire Department Ambulance Fund, to Cerebral Palsy c/o the Elks Lodge 992 in Seneca Falls, or to the Alzheimers Association, 40 Prince St., Rochester, 14607.
Bob was born April 17, 1923, in Seneca Falls, the son of Percy and Carrie Sisson Gillespie. He graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1942. He moved to Phelps in 1973. He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in the Navy, arriving at Sampson Naval Base Feb. 1, 1943. After his basic training, Bob was sent to Submarine Torpedo School in Newport, R.I., Destroyer Base Advanced Aerial Torpedo School in San Diego and Almeda Navy Air Station in California. He was then shipped to Subic Bay Naval Base, Samara, Philippine Islands, where he served as Naval torpedoman second class.
After he was discharged in 1946 he worked at Goulds Pumps as master toolmaker for 43 years, retiring in 1985. Bob loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. After his retirement, he spent his time hunting and fishing. He spent winters on his hobby as an amateur taxidermist. He was a member of the Kirk-Casey American Legion Post 366, Elks Lodge 992 and Goulds Pumps Quarter Century Club - all of Seneca Falls.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara Sabin Sullivan Gillespie, of Phelps; two sons, William R. (Christine) Gillespie of Hamilton, Ohio, and Robert D. (Kathy) McLaughlin Gillespie of East Varick; one daughter, Nancy (John Levis) Gillespie Taylor of Seneca Falls; one stepdaughter, Nancy (George) Sullivan Grantling of Clyde; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Tiphanie) Gillespie of California, Gavin (Megan) Gillespie of Michigan, Christopher and Kyle Grantling of Clyde, and Courtney Taylor of Seneca Falls; one great-granddaughter, Avielle Gillespie; a niece; nephew; and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Diane Cross Gillespie, in 1970; and his sister, Ruth Mundt, in 1965.
