James "Jim" E. Norcott

WATERLOO - James "Jim" E. Norcott, 74, of Stark St., passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital.
Friends and family called Thursday, Aug. 15 at the Mull Funeral Home in Waterloo. A funeral service was Friday, Aug. 15 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Floyd Marsh, pastor of the Harvest Field Baptist Church in Fayette, officiating. Burial followed in Maple Grove cemetery in Waterloo.
The family has requested that contributions in Jim's memory be made to North Seneca Ambulance Inc., P.O. Box 817, Seneca Falls, 13148, or to a charity of one's choice.
Mr. Norcott was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Clifton Springs, the son of the late Sylvester and Eltha Mae Weatherlow-Norcott. He served his country in the Army from Jan. 25, 1946, to July 24, 1947, as a truck driver. While in the Army Mr. Norcott received the American Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Meritorious Unit Award.
Jim worked as a machinist at Gould's Pumps in Seneca Falls for 46 years, and was a member of the Waterloo Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ivarene M. DeMay-Norcott, of Waterloo; two sons, Randall (Elizabeth) Norcott of Sarasota, Fla., and Jamie (Theresa) Norcott of Waterloo; one brother, Kenneth (Lorene) Norcott of Waterloo; one sister, Alice VanTassel of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Charles and Chance Norcott of Sarasota, Fla., and Jennifer and Bryan Norcott of Waterloo; one great-grandchild, Makaila; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Norcott; and sister, Irma Qualtieri.

Dorothy R. Robinson

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Dorothy R. Robinson, 86, of Titusville, Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2002.
Interment will be at a later date in Orleans cemetery in Orleans.
Dorothy was born the daughter of the late Mahala and Charles Tears of Clifton Springs. She and her husband, George, operated a farm near Orleans for many years before moving to Titusville, Fla., in 1989. She was a homemaker and they were members of the Presbyterian Church in Phelps and the Moose Club in Penn Yan.
She is survived by her four sons, Dale (Gail) of New York City, Gary (Joan) and Roger, both of Titusville, Fla., and Robert (Pat) of Prospect; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Carter of Rochester and Doris Morgan of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two brothers, Elmer Tears of Penn Yan and Ralph Tears of Clifton Springs.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, George H. Robinson, who passed away in March of 2001.

Marian E. Sachs

TYRE - Mrs. Marian E. Sachs, 65, of 1741 Dawson Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 in Geneva General Hospital.
Friends called at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service followed immediately at the funeral home. The Rev. David Mihalyi, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, officiated. Burial was in Grove cemetery in Waterloo.
Marian was born July 9, 1937, in Seneca Falls, the daughter of Arthur and Audrey Meeks Scharett. She was a former employee of the Johnson Home in Seneca Falls.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, W. Ronald Sachs, of Tyre; three sons, Ronald E. Sachs of Waterloo, Michael (Debbie) Sachs of East Monroe and Roger Sachs of Newark; one daughter, Kim (Patrick) Howden of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Donnie Scharett of Seneca Falls, Joe (Luzianne) Scharett of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bill (Cindy) Scharett of Tennessee, Frank (Bernice) Scharett of Waterloo and Chuck Scharett of Texas; three sisters, Ruth Scharett of Scranton, Pa., Rosemary Scharett of Clifton Springs and Dorothy Ball of Lodi; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Paul Scharett, John Scharett and Arthur Scharett; and one sister, Bonnie Scharett.

Joshua M. Mattoon

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Joshua M. Mattoon, 24, of 6 South St., died unexpectedly Saturday, June 22, 2002.
Friends called Monday, June 24 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Interment will be in Pearl Street cemetery.
It is suggested that contributions be made in Joshua's memory to the House of John, 15 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432, or to the YMCA, 5 Crane St., Clifton Springs, 14432.
Joshua was born Oct. 10, 1977, the son of Joseph Mattoon III and Kathleen Bird Mattoon. He was a 1995 graduate of Midlakes High School, and a member of the Sons of the Phelps American Legion. Joshua was employed by Iron City Sash and Door in Victor.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph Mattoon and Kathleen Mattoon, both of Phelps; brother Andy Mattoon of Phelps; maternal grandmother, Mary Bird of Clifton Springs; paternal grandparents, Joseph Jr. and Shirley Mattoon of Phelps; aunts and uncles, Sue Bright, Lonnie McPherson, Judy (Frank) Sibio, Mary Jo (David) Shackleton, Cynthia Mattoon, Mike Mattoon and Steven (Lori) Bird; and many cousins and friends.

Matthew A. Meath

PHELPS - Matthew A. Meath, 85, of 32 Pleasant St., Phelps, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends called Sunday, June 23 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were held Monday, June 24 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Church in Phelps with the Rev. Edward Dillon officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery.
It is suggested that contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
Mr. Meath was born on April 27, 1917 in Canandaigua, the son of Matthew T. and Mary Scherbyn Meath. He was a member of St. Francis Church in Phelps, active for the Ontario County Democratic Committee, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Geneva. He served as town councilman for Phelps for eight years, and Phelps village trustee for eight years. He retired in 1980 from American Can Co. in Geneva.
He is survived by two children, Anne (Stuart) Jackson of Wisconsin, and Matthew T. Meath of Phelps; four grandchildren, Christopher and Alaine Jackson, and Matthew and Kimberly Meath; one great-granddaughter, Samantha; sister, Pauline Flynn of Geneva; brothers, Bernard "Bud" Meath of Clifton Springs and Leo Meath of Geneva.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne Meath, who died in 1996; and three brothers, James, Francis, and Edward.

Yvonne Ellis Morrow

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Yvonne Ellis Morrow, 44, entered into quiet and peaceful rest Sunday, June 23, 2002 while surrounded by her loving family.
There were no prior calling hours. A celebration of Yvonne's life was Wednesday, June 26 at the United Methodist Church in Clifton Springs, with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. A reception followed at the church's Fellowship Hall. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Evergreen cemetery, Baptist Hill in Clifton Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to PanCan or to the Lustgarten Foundation, c/o Doreen Palmer, Flint Road, Stanley, 14561.
Yvonne was born Oct. 31, 1957, in Clifton Springs Hospital. She graduated from Marcus Whitman High School and received her associate's degree in accounting from Finger Lakes Community College.
Yvonne had been employed by Ontario County for more than 20 years, her most recent position was as principal accounting clerk for the Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board.
She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Edward R. Morrow Jr.; her daughter, Shauna M. Morrow; mother June N. (Eugene Bauer) Ellis; father, Robert (Nancy) Ellis; three sisters, Dawn (Allen) Bush, Tamara (Steve) Charlette and Carolin (Trevor) Grover; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.

Desta E. Lawrence Buck

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Desta E. Lawrence Buck, 81, of 11 E. Main St., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
There were no prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Friends may contribute in her memory to St. John's Episcopal Church Stained Glass Window Refurbishing Fund.
Desta was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Phelps, the daughter of Albert and Nellie Phillips Adams, and had lived in this area all her life. She was a licensed practical nurse and had worked at Newark Wayne Hospital in Newark and at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua. Desta was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Buck of Clifton Springs; daughter, Doreen (James) Krause of Avon; daughter-in-law, Nancy Lawrence of Manchester; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Lawrence; her son, David Lawrence; and a daughter, Connie Lawrence.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.

Susan B. Christiansen

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Susan B. Christiansen, 46, of 3196 Route 488, went home to be with the Lord after a long illness Friday, July 25, 2003 at her home.
Friends called Sunday, July 27 and Monday, July 28 at the Canandaigua Baptist Church. Funeral services followed at the church, with the Rev. Doug Allen officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Barner Learning Center, Davao City, Philippines, c/o the Canandaigua Baptist Church, 5026 North Rd., Canandaigua, 14424.
Susan was born July 26, 1956, in Fulton, the daughter of Harry E. and Elizabeth Brackett Barner. She was a member of the Canandaigua Baptist Church, where she was a former trustee and was involved in youth ministry. She loved singing, skiing and being involved with the youth.
Susan graduated from State University at Geneseo with a master's degree. She was a special education teacher for the Phelps-Clifton Springs School District for the last 14 years. Prior to that she worked at the Finger Lakes Community College Resource Center. She was a member of the New York State Teachers Association.
Susan helped run the family farm with her husband, Richard.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Richard Christiansen; her parents, Harry and Elizabeth Barner of Rensselaer; sisters and brothers, Virginia (John) Bruce of Rensselaer, Stephen (Jeanne) Barner of Vermont, Harry Barner Jr. of Rensselaer, the Rev. Philip (Sandra) Barner of Elwood City, Pa., the Rev. Paul (Elvira) Barner of Davao City, Philippines, and Timothy (Amy) Barner of Middletown, Ohio; maternal grandmother, Mildred Brackett of Nedrow; mother and father-in-law, John and Pauline Christiansen of Phelps; brothers-in-law, the Rev. Dennis (Judith) Christiansen of Elmira, Terry Christiansen of Toronto, Daryl (MaryBeth) Christiansen of Fairport and Gregg Christiansen of Geneva; sister-in-law, Kirsten (Christopher) Palmeri of Canandaigua; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Marie.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.

Glenn Davis

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Glenn Davis, 48, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at his home. Family and friends called Friday, Aug. 1 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home in Newark. A funeral service followed calling hours at the funeral home. Burial was in Riverview cemetery in Phelps.
In memory of Glenn, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Glenn was born Feb. 25, 1955, in Rochester. He enjoyed music and especially the Beatles. Glenn loved to meet new people and spend time with them. "He got by with a little help from his friends."
He will be missed by special friends, Kyle and SueAnn Houser of Newark; and staff and friends at Finger Lakes DDSO.

Isaiah William Fox-Kesel

PHELPS - Isaiah William Fox-Kesel, infant son of Deanna Fox-Heitmann and William Scott Kesel, died Wednesday, July 24, 2003 at Geneva General Hospital Birthing Center.
Friends attended a graveside service on Saturday, July 26 in Riverview cemetery, with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating.
Isaiah William was born July 24, 2003 at the Geneva General Hospital birthing Center.
He is survived by his parents, Deanna Fox-Heitmann and William Scott Kesel; two sisters, Alexis Gabrielle and Hayden Hannah Heitmann, both of Phelps; two brothers, Noah Chandler Kesel of Phelps and Larry Paul Cooley of Fayette; maternal grandparents, Carol and Randy Fox; maternal great-grandmother, Wanetta Holbrook of Clifton Springs; aunt, Heather Fox of North Carolina; two uncles, Timothy (Barb) Kesel of Sodus; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by paternal grandparents; paternal great-grandparents; one maternal grandmother; and two maternal grandfathers.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.
