Carl W. Anstee

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Carl W. Anstee, 50, of 2906 County Road 13, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends called Monday, May 19 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20 at the United Church of Phelps with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Burial will be in Rose cemetery in Rose.
It is suggested that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Finger Lakes Region, 191 Parrish St., Canandaigua, 14424.
Carl was born Aug. 8, 1952, in Fort Dix, N.J., the son of Eugene and Eleanor Austin Anstee. He was a sales manager for Santelli Lumber Co. in Palmyra. Prior to working for Santelli Lumber, Carl worked for Ferrara Lumber Co.
He enjoyed all sports. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Carl was also a great New York Yankees fan and a New York Giants fan. He also played men's softball in many of the area men's softball leagues.
He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Tracy VanCamp-Anstee of Clifton Springs; three children, Shawnda (Paul Prutzman) Anstee of Newark, Kevin (Debbie Kriefall) Anstee of Seneca Falls and Megan Anstee of Clifton Springs; four grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, Nicolette and Cameron; father and stepmother, Eugene and Gladys Anstee of Clyde; sisters and brothers; Karen (John) Bidwell of Florida, Kay (Paul) Salerno of Clyde, Jean (Charles) Converse of Clyde; Scott Anstee of Texas and Larry (Kim) Anstee of Lyons; two step-sisters, Laurel (David Cushman) Haskell of Fulton and Carol (Todd) Davis of Lyons; mother and father-in-law, Ronald and Sue VanCamp of Phelps; sisters-in-law, Lisa (Ernie) Day of Mendon and Julie (Dave) Files of Marcellus; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Austin Anstee.

Joseph Aruck

GENEVA - Joseph Aruck, 66, of 2505 Carter Road, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the Geneva Living Center South.
Friends called Friday, May 23 at the Palmisano Funeral Home. A memorial service followed at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Joe was born Oct. 17, 1936, in Edwardsville, Pa., the son of the late Patrick and Laura Artmont Aruck. He was a laborer with Local 435 for several years. He was also a member of Local 435.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Minns Aruck; his son, Joseph of Geneva; and daughter, Antoinette Aruck of Farmington; his granddaughter, Rachael; his brothers, Anthony (Carole) Aruck of Canandaigua, Michael (Barbara) Aruck of Shortsville and Carmel Aruck of Bloomfield; sisters, Angeline (Carmen) DoVideo of Bloomfield, Johanna (William) Vishneski of Manchester, Mary (Robert) Theiman of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Samuel; and sister, Verna.

George Henry Blankenberg

CLIFTON SPRINGS - George Henry Blankenberg, 83, of Phelps, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic Nursing Home.
Per his request, there were no prior calling hours. A graveside service was held Monday, May 19 at the Benton Center cemetery, with the Rev. Russ Williamson, of the Flint Church of God, officiating.
George was born June 19, 1919 in Clifton Springs, the son of John and Mary Flint Blankenberg. George was a dairy and cash crop farmer in the Port Gibson and Seneca Castle areas. After he retired from farming, he worked for Guggenheimers of Seneca Castle for many years. In his spare time George enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Lynch Blankenberg, of Geneva; a great-nephew, John Scott Blankenberg of Columbus, Ohio; two great-nieces, Sharyl (Scott) Blankenerg-Ingalls and Melody Lee DeGiont, both of Canandaigua.
He was predeceased by his brother, Milton J. Blankenberg, in 2000; his infant sister, Helen Louise in 1921; and his nephew, John M. Blankenberg in 1992.
Arrangements were entrusted to the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home.

Susie Cauwels

PALMYRA - Susie Cauwels, 88, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at Wayne County Nursing Home.
Family and friends called Friday, May 23 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home Inc., in Newark. A funeral service was held Saturday, May 24 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Harris officiating. Burial followed at Sodus Rural cemetery.
In memory of Mrs. Cauwels, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Mrs. Cauwels was born Sept. 24, 1914, in Sodus, the daughter of the late Isaac and Cornelia (Karl) DeMeyers. She had worked for Sarah Coventry for many years. Mrs. Cauwels was a member of Park Presbyterian Church in Newark.
She will be missed by her son, Ronald Cauwels, of Clifton Springs; daughters, Delores (Richard) Siler of Newark and JoAnn (Charles)Tangee of Texas; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Pitts of Florida and Andrea (Frances) Gifford of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Cauwels, Aug. 16, 1967; and daughter, Shirley Adams, Oct. 21, 2001.

George E. Cooper

PHELPS - Mr. George E. Cooper, 77, of 66 Pleasant St., died Friday, May 16, 2003 at the Seneca Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waterloo.
There were no prior calling hours. Services and burial will be private in Resthaven cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Phelps Volunteer Ambulance, 7 Exchange St., Phelps, 14532.
Mr. Cooper was born March 23, 1926, in Phelps, the son of the late George A. and Lillian Vincent Cooper. George enjoyed working on clocks, and enjoyed bird watching. He also enjoyed paint by numbers.
He is survived by his sister, Beatrice (Truman) Struck; niece Lonnie (George) Lincoln of Clifton Springs; special friend, Gary (Gloria) Fisher of Phelps; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by half-sisters and brothers.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.

Sgt. Carl L. Nayaert

BANDON, ORE. - Police St. Carl L. Nayaert, 35, died Friday, April 25, 2003 in Bandon, Oregon. He was known in the community as "Sgt. Carl."
Sgt. Nayaert was born Nov. 21, 1967, in Geneva, the son of Charles and Cheryl Taggert Nayaert. he graduated from high school in Stanley. He served in the Air Force from 1986 to 1990, attaining the rank of sergeant. While in the Air Force, he specialized in law enforcement and was trained to work with patrol and detector dogs.
Sgt. Nayaert married Kristen Danley Feb. 10, 1990. After his discharge from the Air Force, he accepted a position with the Bandon Police Department in Oregon. He attained the rank of sergeant. He achieved the highest possible level of certification from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training for a police sergeant.
Sgt. Nayaert loved hunting, fishing, playing golf and coaching his daughters in their sports activities. He was very active in the community. He set up and ran the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program and was a volunteer for the Start Making a Reader Today program, better known as SMART. He was a member of the Bandon Chamber of Commerce, the Bandon Dunes Golf Club and had been a former member of the Coquille Valley Elks Lodge.
The family includes his wife, Kris Nayaert, of Bandon; daughters, Kayla and Kira Nayaert of Bandon; his parents of Monroe, N.C.; brothers, Rick (Nisa) Nayaert and Rob (Wanda) Nayaert, both of Monroe, N.C.; a sister, Cheri (Jeff) Lyons of Monroe, N.C.; his wife's parents, Phil and Sue Danley of Welches; brothers-in-law, Phil (Cheryl) Danley of Vancouver, Wash., and Paul (Stacey) Danley of St. Louis, Md.; a grandmother-in-law, Ellen Danley of Yucaipa, Calif.; aunt and uncle, Edward "Bud" and Ruth Nayaert of Phelps; cousin, Donna VanCamp of Phelps; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandparents; and a nephew, Stephen Danley.

Barbara May Salisbury

HOUSTON/PENN YAN - Barbara May Salisbury, 80, of Houston, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 at home.
There were no calling hours; a funeral service was held Friday, May 30 in Lakeview cemetery, with the Rev. John Busch officiating, followed by burial.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice..
Barbara was born July 25, 1922, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Elmer and Verna Salisbury. She was a radiology technician at Methodist Hospital and retired after 33 years of service. She served in the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and bowling.
She is survived by cousins Hilda Coryn of Canandaigua, Hana Johncox of Dresden, Marcia Corwin of Oregon, Larry Brown of Penn Yan and Wayne Brown of Illinois.
Arrangements were with the Weldon Funeral Home in Penn Yan.

William "Bill" Myron Boardman Sr.

CLIFTON SPRINGS - William Myron Boardman, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2001, just two weeks shy of his 61st birthday. Bill passed away peacefully at home, with the comfort of his loving family by his side. Although he lost his long and courageous battle with cancer, he never lost his wonderful sense of humor. He will be fondly remembered for the smiles he brought to everyone's face with his silly sayings and songs.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 2 at the United Methodist Church in Clifton Springs. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Rushville cemetery.
Bill was born June 10, 1942, in Clifton Springs to Dorothy F. Fox and the late Myron R. Boardman. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Long Beach, was a police officer in Clifton Springs for many years and worked at Xerox for more than 30 years before retiring. Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clifton Springs, the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and Moose Lodge 1420 of Palmyra. Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed working police duty, riding his motorcycle, watching TV game shows, spending time with his grandchildren and socializing with family and friends.
Bill will be sadly missed by his dear wife, Ponciana Sabellona Boardman, of Clifton Springs; beloved mother, Dorothy of Clifton Springs; loving children, Traci (John D.) Wihlen of West Henrietta, Wendy (Ron Jr.) Mott of Newark and William (Donna) Boardman Jr. of Red Creek; adoring grandchildren, J. Matthew and Deanna Wihlen, and Ashley and Ryan Mott; sisters, Gail (Walter) Cummings Jr. of Clifton Springs and Nancy Turner of Phelps; a brother, James (Sheryl) Boardman of Clifton Springs; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many caring friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.

Bonnie L. Clapton

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Friends and family mourn the loss of Bonnie Lee Clapton, 62, who passed away Saturday, May 31, 2003.
Friends call Tuesday, June 3 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services followed at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may contribute in Bonnie's memory, to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432.
Bonnie was born in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Willard and Virginia Coons and lived in the area all of her life.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Robert Clapton; three daughters, Brenda (Steve) Tillman of Waterloo, Rebecca (Leon) Baker of Matthews, N.C. and Bobbie Jo (Ron) Butler of Geneva; one son, Brian Clapton of Indian Trail, N.C.; two sisters, Sheryll (James) Boardman of Clifton Springs and Linda Middlebrook of Newark; three brothers, Charles Coons of Canandaigua, Rickey (Chris) Coons of Stanley and Phil (Denise) Coons of Williamsburg, Va, .; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Virginia and Willard Coons; and sister, Nancy Phinney.

Colleen A. Daunce

SENECA CASTLE - Colleen A. Daunce, 60, of 2130 Ferguson Road, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at home.
There were no prior calling hours. Family and friends were invited to a memorial service Saturday, June 7 at the Seneca Castle Firehouse.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Lung Association or the Wilderness Society.
Colleen was born Feb. 7, 1943, in Niagara Falls, the daughter of the late Patrick and Blanche Marlow O'Flaherty. She had worked at Z-Axis of Phelps and then at Wegmans in Geneva in the deli department.
Colleen is survived by her husband, David; two sons, David (Lisa) Daunce Jr. of Farmington and James (Kathy) Daunce of Seneca Castle; one daughter, Sunday Daunce of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Waneta Daunce of Farmington; five grandchildren, Shane, Sheldon and Nicole Daunce, and Rachel and Alicia Falkey; two sisters, Patricia Patrick of Florida and Margaret (Alan) Wright of Rushville; a special friend, Andrew Cardona of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Eileen O'Flaherty in 1951.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.
