Salina T. DeSchepper
NEWARK - Salina T. DeSchepper, 82, of Short Road, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at Rochester General Hospital.
Friends called Wednesday at the Schultz-Pusateri Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was Thursday, Oct. 14 at St. Felix Church on Hibbard Avenue in Clifton Springs. Burial will be in Newark cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs, the House of John in Clifton Springs or the Port Gibson Ambulance Corps.
Salina was born Sept. 23, 1922, at her home in Sodus Center, the daughter or Cornelius and Julia Colmond Toye Sr. She retired from Bloomer Brothers and had also worked at the Newark Developmental Center and at Willard State School.
She was a member of St. Felix Church of Clifton Springs, its Altar & Rosary Society, and was a faithful Red Cross donor for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia (Saaduddin) Ahmed of Newark; beloved granddaughter, Ayasha Julia Ahmed of Newark; a sister, Emma Jean "Blondie" Bassett of Newark; a brother, Edward Toye Sr. of Canton, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Minnie DeSchepper of Clifton Springs and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Phil, who died April 21, 1990; five brothers, August, Peter, Cornelius, Gabriel and Albert; and two sisters, Augusta and Mary.
Robert L. Smith
CLIFTON SPRINGS - Robert L. Smith, 83, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2004.
Friends called Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 11 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.

Bob was born July 21, 1921, in Clifton Springs, the son of the late Laurence and Helen Squier Smith and lived in the area all of his life. Bob served his country in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945 and a second tour from 1951 to 1952 serving in Bouganville, Guam and Iwo Jima.
Bob worked at the Veterans Administration for 30 years retiring in 1976, and was later employed at GW Lisk for more than 24 years. He was a member of the Shortsville American Legion, the Clifton Springs VFW and was a lifelong member of the Clifton Spring Methodist Church. He also was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was an avid Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees and Syracuse Orange fan. He loved life, people, the outdoors and his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jeanne Briggs Smith; his son, Laurence (Peggy) Smith of Phelps; three grandchildren, Jay, Hannah, and Robert; a brother, Leigh Smith of Clifton Springs; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Francis E. "Shorty" Gifford
NEWARK - Francis Eugene "Shorty" Gifford, 73, died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004 at the House of John in Clifton Springs, with his wife by his side.
There were no calling hours or funeral services. Family and friends attended a graveside service Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Fairville cemetery, with full military honors, with the Rev. Gerald Harris officiating.

Shorty was born March 19, 1931, in Newark, the son of Everett and Caroline Jones Gifford. He attended Newark central schools and worked for the village of Newark, where he was best known as the water meter reader for over 36 years.
He was a member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department's New York Central Hose Co. 5, joining in 1972. Shorty was also a member of August Mauer American Legion Post 286. For several years he drove veterans to the VA hospitals in Canandaigua and Buffalo. He enjoyed walking and visiting with people in his community.
The funeral home flies the Army flag in honor of his service to our country during the Korean Conflict.
Shorty will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife, Audrey DeMeyers Gifford; two sons, Michael (Nan) Pollet of Clifton Springs and Joe Pollet of Newark; two daughters, Teressa (Keith) O'Dell of Fairville and Marla (James) Osborne of Clyde; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Theresa) Gifford of Newark; a sister, Mina Blankenberg of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
Shorty was predeceased by his sisters, Beatrice Miner, Patricia Furfaro and Marilyn Cill; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Blankenberg.

Carol Kittell
CLIFTON SPRINGS - Carol Kittell, 90, of Highland Ave., passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends attended a memorial service on Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association, the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center or the Clifton Springs Library in Carol's memory.
Carol was born in Yonkers, on Dec. 10, 1913, and graduated from the Crane School of Music at Potsdam in 1934. Following college, Carol began teaching music in Irondequoit. She was married
to Harry Kittell Jr. on April 12, 1939, in Yonkers.
In June of 1939, Carol and Harry moved to Clifton Springs which they called their home for the next 60-plus years. She was a substitute music and elementary school teacher in the area. Carol enjoyed playing golf and gardening. She was a member of the Tourists Club, very active in the Clifton Springs Hospital Auxiliary, charter member of the Clifton Springs Country Club and loved to play bridge.
Carol is survived by one daughter, Barbara Sue (Reginald) Fortier of Watertown, Mass.; one sister, Alice Wolman of Mentor, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kittell of east Greenbush; and several nieces and nephews.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, Harry, in 2000; and her son, John, in 1963.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.
Ralph G. Rogers
PENN YAN - Ralph G. Rogers, 82, of 93 Ritchey Blvd., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004 at home.
Friends called Friday, Oct. 22 at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel. His funeral service was Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. K. Wayne Butler officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery.

Ralph was born on Dec. 25, 1921, in the town of Hornby, the son of Daniel and Mabel Green Rogers. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, and was employed with Penn Yan Express for 28 years. He had operated his backhoe service in Penn Yan for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 745.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Bailey Rogers; three children, Lon (Jil) Rogers of Lyons, Jocelyn (Michael) Falvey of Keuka Park, Ralph B. Rogers of Dundee; five grandchildren, Brooke (Justin) Colburn of Shortsville, Seth Rogers of Keuka Park, Shawn McNeil of West Point, Morgan C. Rogers and Hannah J. Rogers of Dundee; a brother, Lloyd (Betty) Rogers of Gorham; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Rank and Harold Rogers; and a sister, Mildred Hey.
Raymond E. Bedard
STANLEY - Raymond E. Bedard, 66, of Little Church Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at his home.
Friends called Monday, Oct. 25 at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Oct. 26 at St. Theresa's Church in Stanley.

Mr. Bedard is survived by one daughter, Suzette (Joe) Yankanich of Albion; one son, Geoff (Flaura) Bedard of Ohio; his former wife, Patricia Bedard of Shortsville; six grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Napoleon and Rachel Champagne Bedard; two grandchildren, Jessee Yankanich in 1992 and Courtney Yankanich in 1999.
Lester R. Brown
LYONS/NEWARK - Lester Royce Brown, 76, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004 at the DeMay Living Center.
Family and friends called Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home Inc. in Newark. A funeral service followed at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carlos Smith officiating. Burial will be in East Newark cemetery at the convenience of the family. The funeral home flies the Army flag in honor of his service to our country during World War II.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 6, 1927, the son of Alfred and Rachel Bascomb Brown in North Brookfield. He had worked for Landshoot Construction and Seneca Foods from which he retired in 1989.
Mr. Brown will be remembered by his loving wife of 45 years, Laura Buterbaugh Brown; three sons, Timothy (Jean) of Brockport, Mark (Sharon) of Walworth and Jason Brown of North Carolina; three daughters, Susan Brown of Newark, Peggy Hixson of Phelps and Deborah (Don) Gearhart of Lyons; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Morris (Janice) Brown of Hamilton; two sisters, Charlene (Frank) Morgan of Lebanon and Clara (Jim) Ritchey of Buffalo; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brown was predeceased by his brothers, Alfred, Benjamin and Maynard.

Jeann M. Bugliosi
CLIFTON SPRINGS - Jeann M. Bugliosi, 75, of Sherman Street, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital.
A memorial service to celebrate her life was Friday, Oct. 29 at St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs. Burial will be in St. Agnes cemetery.

Jeann was born July 1, 1939 in Scranton, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Ann Shuklis, and had lived in the Clifton Springs area most of her life. She was a nurse at Clifton Springs Hospital for over 25 years, where she helped many people cope with their addictions. Jeann was a good listener and was always there to lend a hand and help people with their problems. She loved her family and adored her two grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving son, Edward (Janna) Bugliosi of Dryden; grandchildren, Bruno and Jaed; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Joan Bugliosi of Clifton Springs.
She was predeceased by her son, Thomas.

Cristina T. Leon
GENEVA - Cristina T. Leon, 69, of 52 Spring St., who will be sadly missed by her entire family, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004 at Geneva General Hospital.
There were no prior calling hours. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 25 at St. Francis DeSales Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Cristina was born Jan. 21, 2935 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Luis and Emilia Reyes Torres. She was a devoted homemaker for her family, and she was a member of the Roman Catholic Community of Geneva.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Domingo Leon Sr.; three sons, Domingo (Nancy) Leon Jr. of Flowery Branch, Ga., Ricardo (Dianne) Leon of Lexington, Ohio and Graviel "Pooch" (Maureen) Leon of Lancaster; three daughters, Adelaida "Laila" (Steven) Paliotti of Lyons, Trina (Paul) DiDuro of Victor, and Sandra (Paul) Knipper of Clifton Springs; family member Elaine Leon of Liverpool; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother- and sister-in-law; and several cousins who reside in Puerto Rico.
Marguerite "Marge" Segbers
MANCHESTER - Marguerite "Marge" Segbers, 88, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Friends called Tuesday, Oct. 26 at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home in Manchester. Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 27 at the funeral home.

Marge was born July 23, 1916 in Manchester, the daughter of Charles and Lenora Hackett. She was a retired auctioneer clerk for Finger Lakes Livestock/Sennett Sales in Canandaigua.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Earl) Maltman of Phelps; a grandson, Mark (Dawn) Maltman of Farmington; and a great-granddaughter, Saige Maltman.
She was predeceased by her husband, James; and a brother, Robert Hackett.
