Newcombe, Mark Richard - Mark Richard Newcombe, 31, of 1186 Perch Drive, St. Cloud, FL, formerly of Newark, died Monday, April 13, 1998. Born in Newark, Mr. Newcombe was a metal framer for the building industry. He moved to St. Cloud In 1980 and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Newcombe is survived by his wife, Brenda Marie Newcombe of St. Cloud; son, Kristapher Newcombe of St. Cloud; father, Richard Arelen Newcombe of Newark; mother, Sharon L. Phillips, and stepfather, Randy C. Phillips of Lake Worth, FL; sister, Shelley Beth Gaston of Newark; half-brother, Josh Newcombe of Newark; half-sister, Christina Newcombe of Newark.

Musolino, Anthony L. - Anthony L. Musolino, 91, of East Miller Street, Newark died April 14, 1998 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Musolino was born May 2, 1906, in Canandaigua, the son of Bruno and Maria Niovino Musolino. He had worked at the VA hospital in Canandaigua and for Seneca Foods in Newark. He was a former member of American War Dads of the VFW of Newark, and he played the banjo. Interment will be in Cato Union Hill cemetery. Mr. Musolino is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Bowen Musolino; sister, Rose Gennuso of Rochester; cousin, Anthony "Tony" Muscato of Naples, NY; nieces and nephews.

Monje (Holdridge), Anne E. - Anne E. Monje, 66, of Westfield Street, West Springfield, MA, formerly of Savannah, died Monday, March 30, 1998 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts. Born in Savannah, Dec. 29, 1931, Anne was the daughter of the late Marion and Flossie (Westcott) Holdridge. Raised and educated in Savannah, she had lived most of her life in Newark and had worked as sales manager for Sibley's Department Store for 20 years, before settling in West Springfield 12 years ago. Anne is survived by a daughter, Patricia Monje-Read of Penn Yan; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Muriel Holdridge of Brookville, FL; two granddaughters, Shawna Armitage and Ashley Read, and two nephews.

Strassburger, Ruth - Ruth D. Strassburger, 89, of 2371 Ford Road, Newark died Friday, April 3, 1998, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Ruth was born Sept. 30, 1908 in Hubbard Woods, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Freida Wendt DiBall. She was a member of the first graduating class of Hubbard Woods School, and attended high school in New Prier Winnetha, Illinois. Ruth was a professional long-term babysitter. She was a lifetime member of the Northbrook Home Bureau and the Lutheran Church in Northbrook, IL. Ruth moved to Newark May 15, 1997, where she resided with her son and daughter-in-law. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roland and Janice of Newark, and their family; grandchildren, Karen (Yohe) Lucieer, Keith Yohe, Kelly Strassburger; great-grandchildren, Tanya, Crystal and Donald; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler, James and Cody; a daughter, Charlotte Wennlund of Waukegan, IL, and her family; grandson, Leonard; great-grandson, Shawn; sister and brother-in]law, Victoria and Keith Cady of Oak Park, IL, nephews, Paul and Wendall Cady.

Kommer (Smith), Clara E. - Clara E. (Smith) Kommer, 86, died April 5, 1998. Interment Palmyra cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Helen (Ralph) Kommer; grandchildren, Kevin Kommer, Kathy (William III) Courtney; great-grandaughter Alexa Courtney; brothers, George Rausler of FL and John Rausler of Newark; sister, Ida Rose of Victor; several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her husbands, Charles Smith and Gottlieb Kommer; brother Charles Rausler; sister Minnie Piehl.

Bruinsma, Helen M. - Helen M. Bruinsma, 93, of Clinton Court Apartments, Newark, died Monday, April 6, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Bruinsma was born the daughter of John and Dena (VonHof) Frelier, February 4, 1905 in Rochester. She married Clarence B. Bruinsma on March 29, 1926. She was a devoted wife and mother and will enjoy this Easter with her Lord. Interment in East Palmyra cemetery. Mrs. Bruinsma is survived by her daughter, Margaret DeLeeuw; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheila Bruinsma; two grandchildren, Barry and Beth Bruinsma; great-grandson, Bailey; sisters, Ethel (Richard) Meischser of OR, Mabel DeVries and Ruth Nordseth both of Rochester; her sister-in-law, Rachel Frelier of Rochester, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bruinsma was predeceased by her husband, Clarence in August 1994, and her son-in-law John DeLeeuw, in September 1994.

Talma, Clarence - Clarence Talma, 56, of Macedon, died April 7, 1998. Interment Furnaceville cemetery. Survived by his wife Nancy; sons, Russell of Amherst, Brian of Macedon; brothers, Albert, Henry, Lee, Sidney; mother, Martha Talma of Newark; mother-in-law Helen Williams of Newark, several nieces and nephews.

Gulick, Ruth - Ruth Gulick, 89, of Syracuse, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Castle Rest Nursing Home, Syracuse. Born in Fair Haven, she was a resident of Newark for many years before moving to Syracuse. Interment in Loomis Hill cemetery. She is survived by many cousins, including Larry Rice of Newark.

Groot, Margaret E. - Margaret E. Groot, 90, of Newark, died April 8, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Groot was born on March 8, 1908 in Fayette, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Robenot. She had lived in Sodus for many years before moving to Newark in 1983. Mrs. Groot was a retired wallpaper hanger and an active member of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Monument Grove cemetery, Meridian. She is survived by a daughter, Gladys Wallace of Newark; two sons, Charles of Lakeville and Chester of Canandaigua; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Verna Leyburn of Cato, Marian Mills and Edith Bye, both of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Emil Fisher of Ira, NY and Raymond Fisher of Memphis, NY; nieces and nephews.

Adamy, Dorothy T. - Dorothy T. Adamy, 80, of Bethany Village, Horseheads, died March 24, 1998. She was born February 21, 1917 in Elmira, the daughter of Willard G. and Lillian Gardner Tallman. She was a graduate of Cortland High School. She spent her life as a pastor's wife, which made her a resident of many places as he held pastorial assignments in N. Tonawanda, PA; Manlius; Newark; Syracuse; Elmira; and last in Moravia. Her husband, the Rev. Howard E. Adamy, died February 11, 1981. Interment in Cortland Rural cemetery.She is survived by son, Howard E. (Jane) Adamy Jr., of Elmira; daughter, Cheryl Miron Fayetteville; three grandchildren; sister-in-law Beatrice Smith of Cortland; and three nieces.

Decker, John A. - John A. Decker, 86, of Marion, died March 27, 1998. He was a retired farmer. Interment in Fairville cemetery.He is survived by his wife Lavina Naeye Decker; his son, Gerald of Marion; a brother, Bernard (Alice) Decker of Lakeland, FL; very close friends, Doug and Johanna Williams and family of Marion; nieces and nephews.

Voellinger, Raymond E. - Raymond E. Voellinger, 65, of West Pearl Street, Newark, died Saturday, March 28, 1998 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Voellinger was born the son of Emil and Mary Redden, May 28, 1932 in Webster, New York. He was a retiree of Garlock Co. in Palmyra, where he was employed for 36 years. He was a member of the Palmyra VFW and a weekly visitor of the Newark VFW. The funeral home proudly flies the Navy Flag in honor of his service to our country during the Korean War. Interment in Fairville cemetery. Mr. Voellinger is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Juanita Bushey Voellinger; daughters and husbands - Lori (Mayville) and Donald Norsen of Fairville; Lisa (Mayville) and Daniel Turner of Fairville; his sons, Timothy and Todd both of Rochester; grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Brian, Rae, Adam and Dylan; sisters Marie Verschage of Avon, Gertrude Dawson of Arcade and Kathrine Miller of Florida; special friends Laurie VanSchaffel, Andy Marks and Don Buckley; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Louis Voellinger, and sister Florence.

Smith, Charles W. - Charles W. Smith, 77, of Siegrist St., Newark, died March 28, 1998. Mr. Smith was born in Algier, NC, Dec. 24, 1920, son of P.T. and Bertha Hamilton Smith. He was a carpenter and served in World War II in the Marine Corps. He was a former member of the VFW of Rochester. A service was be held on March 31, at Marion cemetery. Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Fran Vaughn of VA; several brothers and sisters; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys in 1996, and sons, Steve K. Smith in 1982 and Larry C. Smith.

Johnson, Floyd A. Jr.- Floyd A. Johnson Jr., 88, of Inlet, formerly of Lyons and Rochester, died March 26, 1998, in Myers Community Hospital, Sodus. Born July 8, 1909, in Port Byron to Floyd and Edith Tanner Johnson Sr., he was a night supervisor of manufacturing for Xerox in Webster. He retired in 1975 after many years of employment. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Inlet and a longtime member of the Q-B's (air pilot association).He is survived by his children, Anne Hofschneider of Chili, Patricia (Arthur) Thompson of Pittsford, Paul (Judith) of Newark, Floyd (Louise) of Williamson, Rita (Eugene) Hildreth of Lyons, June of Henrietta, Judith (Gary Ledgerwood) of Macedon and John (Linda) of Utica; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister and brother; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends.He was predeceased by his wife, Martha, in 1994.

Fisk, Caroline Allen - Caroline Allen Fisk, age 79, died March 30 1998. Interment Webster Rural cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband George, son James, a great-granddaughter Caitland, her brothers Elmer and Harold Allen. Survived by daughters, Daina (Volker) Heyde, Karen Bedette, Joan Fisk; sons Ken (Merilee), Denny (Dawn), Charles (Doreen), Gary and Jeff; 25 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister Helen (Ralph) Dinse; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Yost, Nelson (Toot) - Nelson (Toot) Yost, 81, of West Miller St., Newark, died March 31, 1998 at Newark-Wayne Hospital. Nelson was born on July 1, 1916 in Lewisburg, PA, the son of Adam and Sarah Spitler Yost. He was a long-time resident of Newark and retired from Garlock in 1975. He was a member of the Garlock Old Timers Club. Interment in the Port Gibson cemetery. Mr. Yost is survived by his sister, Marion McNeill of Sanford, FL; nieces Carol Mitchell and Betty Parker of FL; nephews Melvin Yost Jr. of Jacksonville; Gerald (Mary) Yost of St. Albans, VT; Robert (Charlotte) Yost of Port Gibson; Robert (Betty) Yost of Palmyra; Richard (Barb) Yost of Port Gibson; James Yost of Canandaigua, and Donald (Janet) Yost of Georgia; many friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Melvin, Arthur, Willard, and Karl, his sisters Hazel Fetzer and Margaret Wood, and his nephew, Charles Wood.

Ruple, Kenneth R. - Kenneth R. Ruple, 68, of Marion died on March 18, 1998. He was a retired Garlock employee. Interment Marion cemetery.Survived by his wife, Barbara Young Ruple; his daughter, Lorie (Joseph) Henley, Ontario; two sons, Lee (Tabetha) Ruple of Marion and David (Angela) Ruple of Ocean Springs, MI; five grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin (Joy) Ruple of Mentor On The Lake, OH and James (Janet) Hosbach of Ontario; sister, Nancy DeFisher of Ellenton, FL; many nieces and nephews.

Gagner, Angela - Angela Dardano Gagner, 93, formerly of Utica, died March 15, 1998 at Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. She was born in Utica on August 7, 1904, the eldest daughter of Anthony and Mary (Arlotto) Dardano. She was educated in local schools and married John DeFelice. Angela was married a second time to Patrick Costello, who passed away and then married Henry Gagner in 1981. Mr. Gagner passed away in 1983. Mrs. Gagner was employed at Joseph and Feiss Co.She is survived by her daughter, Gloria DeFelice Corelli of Newark; grandson, Michael; granddaughter, Maureen Ashbarry; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Ashbarry; one brother and sister in Utica and one sister in San Diego, CA; several cousins, nieces & nephews.

Steurrys, Eugene R. - Eugene R. Steurrys, 53, of Marion, died on March 19, 1998. He was born July 13, 1944 to Dorothy (Schoonerman) and John Steurrys. Interment Marion cemetery.He is survived by his son, Joel, of Williamson; two brothers, Robert (Rosella) Steurrys of Canandaigua; Gary (Betty) Steurrys of Clifton Springs; sisters, Audrey Rodas of Bath, Barbara (James) Lyons, of Canandaigua, Rona Edwards of Palmyra, Patricia (David) King of Clifton Springs; his aunt Genevieve Cook of Palmyra; nieces and nephews.

DeMay, Hermine - Hermine DeMay, 86, of Palmyra, died March 22, 1998. Interment in Marion cemetery.She had worked for Stromberg Carlson. Hermine was predeceased by her husband, Jacob DeMay. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Elwood) Verbridge and Madelyn (William) VanDerMallie of Palmyra; son, Nelson (Joan) DeMay, of Palmyra; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Governor of Wolcott.

Tyler, Lawrence H. - Lawrence H. Tyler, 71, of Lock Berlin, died on March 22, 1998. Mr. Tyler was born in Newark July 17, 1926, son of Clarence and Susan Farnsworth Tyler. He retired from Hallagan Manufacturing in Newark In 1988. He served in the U.S. Navy. Interment in Lock Berlin cemetery.Mr. Tyler is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Preston Tyler; 11 children and stepchildren: David and Steven Tyler of Lyons; Randy Tyler of Waterloo; Terrance Tyler of Newark; Howard Lawson of Ohio; Sharon Confer, Donna Bray, Debbie Tyler of Lyons; Velma Frye of Ontario; Bonnie Lawson of Hall; Katherine Hadley of Ohio; five brothers, Vincent, Alfred, Clifford, and Arnold of Newark, Keith of Livonia; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Hockenberger, Clementine "Jane" - Clementine "Jane" Hockenberger, 92, died on March 20, 1998, in Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Born April 3, 1905, in Belgium to Charles and Marie (Milbrook) Dobbelaere, she came to the U.S. at age 4. With her husband, Carl, she owned and operated the Fairville Restaurant from 1936-1966. She also was a cook for Newark Developmental Center for over 20 years, retiring in 1972. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Interment in Newark cemetery.She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane (Ray) Arcieri of Fairville; son, William (Louise) of Penfield; grandchildren, Richard and Kim Little and Todd, Jeffrey and Michael Hockenberger; step-grandchildren, Sharleen Tremfer and Douglas and Kenneth Cauwels; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Madeline DeRooy of Hudson, FL, and Martha Provost of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband Carl in 1967; a daughter, Dolores Little, in 1977; sisters, Emily Farnsworth, Marie DeNeef, Florence Parks and Alice VanDermortal; and brothers, Charles and Edward.
