Mrs. Sandra J. Marshall, age 66, of Broadalbin, died Tuesday evening, July 20, 2010 at Albany Medical Center following a short illness.

She was born August 25, 1943 in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Arthur Paull and Matilda VanValkenburg Paull. She was a 1961 graduate of Mohanason High School and shortly thereafter was employed at the NYS Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Albany. She later worker at the drafting department at General Electric Company in Schenectady, and finally at the admissions office at Union College in Schenectady for about 17 years.

Sandy loved life, especially watching the sunrise and sunset on the Great Sacandaga Lake. As a lifelong member of the Sacandaga Boat Club she enjoyed kayaking with her good friends and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch and listening to the rain fall. She was a member of the Sew Busy Quilt Guild and loved going away for the quilting weekends with close friends. Sandy had a great love of horses and spent a great many years riding with her husband and friends.

Known as "Meema" by many, she appreciated the simple things with friends and family. Her life's love was her cherished family. She will be sincerely missed by all who knew her.

Sandy is survived by: her husband, Ronald S. Marshall of Broadalbin; two children, Ronald P. Marshall (Jeanine) and Melinda M. Fitzgerald (Edward) of Mayfield; a brother, Joseph "Fritz" Paull (Mary) of Rotterdam; two sisters, Shirley Ambesi (Anthony) of Rotterdam and Marion Goodness of Glenville; four grandchildren, Danielle Rafferty, Jordan Marshall, Julia Fitzgerald and Meara Fitzgerald; a great-grandson, Ethan Rafferty; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St; Broadalbin, where a funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Bill Delia officiating. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Ronald McDonald House of Albany, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.

Dorothy M. Losi
Born in College Point, NY on Feb. 17, 1914
At Rest Jul. 22, 2010 and resided in Gloversville, NY.

Mrs. Dorothy M. Losi, 96, of Gloversville, passed away Thursday July 22, 2010. She was born February 17, 1914 in College Point, N.Y. and was educated and graduated high school there. Early in her life, Mrs. Losi was a seamstress for National Casket Co. in Flushing, N.Y. She was a home maker most of her life, devoting her time to raising her family. Dorothy also made time for her church where she taught Sunday school.
For many years, Dorothy had spent summers in Mayfield while wintering in Florida. She moved to Gloversville in 1997.

She is survived by her children: Paula Becker of Gloversville and Peter P. (Carol) Losi of Northport, N.Y. Dorothy is also survived by five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Paul J. Losi whom she married January 19, 1937, brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street Gloversville. Burial will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y. at 2:30 pm. Monday. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Pineview Commons Activity Fund, 201 S. Melcher St. Johnstown, N.Y. 12095

James R. Cook
Born in Gloversville, NY on May 9, 1932
At Rest Jul. 23, 2010 and resided in Gloversville, NY.

James R. Cook, 78, of Gloversville, went home to be with his savior on July 23, 2010, at Mt. Valley Hospice. Jim was born in Gloversville on May 9, 1932, the son of Zina and Lorraine Van Allen Cook. On July 4, 1953, he married the former Eleanore Berhaupt, who survives.

Jim graduated Gloversville High School in 1950. Upon graduation, he went to work for General Telephone. Jim served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, and then returned to the phone company. He retired from Liberty Enterprises in 1994.

Jim was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed modifying and building hot rods and could often be found among friends at classic car shows in the area.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Jim is survived by three children, John (Stephanie) Cook of Johnstown, Lisa (Bob) Penge of Mayfield, and Steve (Ruthie) Cook of Fonda. Nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Jim was pre-deceased by a sister, Marie Houtz of Arizona.

Funeral services will be conducted 7 pm Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville, with Reverend Richard C. Klueg officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-7 pm, prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will take place 11 am Wednesday at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave. Glovervsille, N.Y. 12078.

Sara B. Close
Born in Napanoch, NY on Oct. 21, 1939
At Rest Jul. 24, 2010 and resided in Mayfield, NY.

Mrs. Sara B. Close, age 70, died at her home in Mayfield on Saturday, July 24, 2010.

She was born on October 21, 1939 in Napanoch, NY, the daughter of the late Albro H. Brown and Gladys Ross Brown. She was a graduate of Cobleskill College and also attended Oneonta Teacher's College and Dean Junior College. She worked in the guidance office at Mayfield Central School until her retirement.

Mrs. Close was a member of the Mayfield PTO. She served on the building expansion committee and was a non-teaching union representative for the school. She was a member of the Fulton County Women's Farm Bureau and was active with the Fulton County Dairy Princess Committee and the American Dairy Association. She served as a volunteer at the Bannertown Fair, the fall clean-up at Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield and also with a group of her school co-workers for Friday's Table at Holy Spirit Church.

Sara, also known as "Icky" enjoyed bowling, canning chairs, working in her vegetable and flower gardens and oil painting. She also enjoyed activities with "The Flamingo Girls" and "The Boat Girls".

Survivors include: her husband, Peter G. Close, whom she married on September 16, 1961; two sons, Peter F. Close (Lauren) of Morrisville and David E. Close of Fultonville; seven grandchildren, Dyana Close, Kathleen Close, Alexander Gifford, Nicholas Gifford, Samantha Gifford, Kaitlyn Close and Kyle Close; two great-grandchildren, Braydon Weil and Nikolai Weil; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Sue Gifford; a brother Albro "Ozzie" Brown and two sisters, Katherine O'Dea and Barbara Bullis.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 28 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. David C. Newkirk officiating. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. It is the request of Sara's family that, in lieu of flowers, a check be made payable to the Sara B. Close Memorial Scholarship Fund, 118 Lakeview Road, Mayfield, NY 12117.

Charles Plumadore
Born in Gloversville, NY on Apr. 15, 1963
At Rest Aug. 7, 2010 and resided in Ballston Spa, NY.

Charles "Chaz" Plumadore, age 47, of Ballston Spa passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 7, 2010.
He was born in Gloversville, NY on April 15, 1963 the son of Jean (Harman) Plumadore and the late Lionel Plumadore.
Charles worked as a systems engineer for Riversource Insurance in Guilderland for several years.
Chaz enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. He was an avid outdoorsman. Charles was also a huge fan of NASCAR. His favorite driver was the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.
In addition to his mother, Charles is survived by a son, Alex Plumadore of Rochester, NY, two brothers, Thomas Plumadore (Tammy) of Gloversville, NY and James Plumadore of Orlando, FL and two sisters, Valerie Insogna of West Point, NY and Niki Riedel (Seth) of Schenectady.
Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Chaz was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy Plumadore and Mark Plumadore as well as four sisters, Dawn Plumadore, Karen Plumadore, Laurie Plumadore and Elizabeth Plumadore.
A memorial service to celebrate Charles' life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 11, 2010 at the Foothills United Methodist Church, 17 Fremont Street, Gloversville with the Rev. Cynthia VanAllen as celebrant. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Chaz to Search Team 5-1; C/O Stan Banovic; 324 West Montgomery Street; Johnstown, NY 12095.
