George J. Logan
BUTLER, N.J. — George Joseph Logan, 57, of Butler, N.J., and Roseboom, N.Y., died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at his home in New Jersey.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1941, at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, N.J., a son of George and Marjorie Logan.

He married Joanne Walek on Aug. 14, 1965, in Butler, N.J.

Following his graduation from St. Luke's High School in Hohokus, N.J., George enlisted in the United States Navy and later was a member of the Naval Reserves. In 1966, he graduated from Olivet College in Olivet, Mich.

George pursued a career as a financial planner, was a chartered life underwriter and owned Logan Planning Services in Riverdale. He was a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, a member and past president of the Pequannook Valley Life Underwriters and belonged to the Breakfast Club at Spa 23.

He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Pompton Lakes, N.J., where his love of God and people was continually reinforced and projected.

George was passionate about his community and was a member and past treasurer of the Butler Library Association. He was also a member and past president of Butler Rotary Club, which honored him by naming him a Paul Harris Fellow. He supervised their Student Exchange Program and "fathered" two sons, Rico of the Philippines and Jesus of Mexico.

George's love of the country and all the honesty and values of rural life brought him to his second home in Roseboom. Here he found the warmth and comfort of his family and many friends, old and new, who shared his beliefs in what life was all about. At his family's request, George was cremated in his favorite Roseboom sweatshirt.

George is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joanne; his three sons, George Logan and his wife, Carolyn and their two daughters, Kayla Noel and Brielle Lynn, all or Oakridge, N.J., and John Logan and Michael Logan, both of Mt. Hood, Ore.; his parents, George and Marjorie Logan of Venice, Fla. and Cooperstown; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Margaret Walek of Hobe Sound, Fla.; his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Edward Landers of Cooperstown and Patty and James Dickinson of Grand Ledge, Mich.; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Debra Logan of Venice, Fla.; seven sisters-in-law and their husbands, Theresa and Bill Henry of Kinnelon, N.J., Peggy and Richard Weiner of Wayne, N.J., Camille Walek of Palm Harbor, Fla., Susan and Parker Rhinesmith of Butler, N.J., Kathy and Richard Shapiro of Santa Fe, N.M., Mary and Chuck Niessen of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Patty and Bruce Coleman of Pocatello, Ind.; three brothers-in-law, Michael Walek of York, Maine and Dan Walek and his wife, Terry of Ontario, Canada, and Jack Walek and his wife, Barbara of Richmond, Va.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and a legion of devoted friends and colleagues.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Cooperstown, with Fr. John R. Roos, pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes, N.J. 07442 or the Butler Rotary Club, Butler, N.J. 07405 or PanCan, P.0. Box 4809, Palos Verdes,  Calif. 90274.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Larry J. St. John
SIDNEY — Larry J. St. John, 55, of 76 Campmeeting St., Sidney, passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 4, 1999, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Sidney. He was the son of Larry and Clara Melbourne St. John.

On Dec. 18, 1965, he married Donna Drotar in Sidney.

Larry was a graduate from the Sidney Senior High School, Class of 1961. He completed his education at the State University College at Cortland, Class of 1965.

Mr. St. John, for the past 26 years, was an insurance representative for the Prudential Life Insurance Company in the Tri-Towns area.

Larry was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sidney, Sidney Fire Department, MacDonald Hose Company 1, Walton Mountain Sportsmen, Inc., National Rifle Association, and the Sidney Chamber of Commerce,

He was an avid sportsmen, especially his hunting, fishing and golf.

His family and close friends were his most treasured possessions. Larry always had a sincere concern for others.

Larry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna St. John of Sidney; three sons and daughters-in-law, John St. John of Sidney, Sean and Barbara St. John of Clovis, N.M. and Howard and Cherie Bullett of Tumwater, Wash.; his mother, Clara St. John of Sidney; his brother, Merritt and Patti St. John of Sidney; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Dorothy Drotar of Sidney; three grandchildren, Lindsay Leonard and Chelsea and Abigail St. John; two aunts, Helen Veeck of Clark and Frances St. John of Interlaken; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with the Rev. David Masland, pastor of the Sidney United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. Friends are invited to call at their convenience Tuesday at the funeral chapel. His family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. The Sidney Fire Department will conduct memorial services at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the Sidney Emergency Squad, River Street, Sidney, N.Y. 13838 or to Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.

Jacob `Jake' Day
STRATFORD — Jacob "Jake" Day, 21, of 112 Mallett Hill Road, Stratford, and currently working and residing in Andes, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, in Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Friday morning in Andes.

Jake was born on June 16, 1978, in Little Falls, the son of William and LouAnn (Williams) Day, and was educated in schools in Stratford and Dolgeville along with attending Andes Central School, where he was a member of the soccer and basketball teams. His love of the game of basketball was continued after school by assisting the junior varsity program of Andes Central School. Jake was also a member of the Outdoor Club and the Booster Club from Andes School.

Jake was employed by his father in the Weatherite Home Improvement Company of Andes, as a foreman.

Jake is survived by his mother, LouAnn Day and her friend, James Cameron of Stratford; his father and his friend, William Day and Laurie Little of Andes; a brother, Forrest and his wife, Julie Day, of Oregon; his sisters, Beth Day and her friend, John Smith, of Dexter, Mo., and Roxanne Baker of Salisbury, Christine Day and Steven  Taylor of Ilion; his maternal grandmother, Ruby Williams of Stratford. Additional survivors include, Jerett Cameron, Ryan and Beth Little, his girlfriend, Kylle Cole of Andes, six nephews; four nieces, and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Salisbury Center, with the Rev. Robert Brent, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Stratford Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Andes Presbyterian Church for his friends in that area.

Memorials may be made to the Andes Ambulance Squad, Andes, N.Y. 13731.

Mary C. Stanhouse
ONEONTA — Mrs. Mary C. Stanhouse, wife of the late Rosslyn J. Stanhouse, of Oneonta, died at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home, Cohoes, on Monday, Sept. 6, 1999.

Mrs. Stanhouse was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, the State University College at Oneonta and attended Albany State College.

She was a former member of the faculty of the schools of Brunswick. Mrs. Stanhouse continued her teaching career in the Oneonta public school system, from which she retired.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneonta, the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 259 of Oneonta, the New York State Retired Teachers Association, the Otsego Retired Teachers Association, former member of the Oneonta Woman's Club and the Beach Manor Villa Association of Venice, Fla.

Mrs. Stanhouse is survived by one son, Wayne R. Stanhouse of Marietta, Ga.; one granddaughter, Jennifer Stanhouse of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Vincent (Ruth) Roarke of Brunswick, and Mrs. Carl (Alice) Spalt of Sycaway; two brothers, Clarence Calhoun of Brunswick, and Robert Calhoun of Melrose; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening, Sept. 8, 1999, at 7 p.m. at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, Troy. Graveside funeral services at the West Oneonta Cemetery will be private. Mrs. Stanhouse's family will be present at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, on Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, from 1 to 2 p.m. for those who wish may call.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, Ill. 60611-1676 in loving memory of Mary C. Stanhouse.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Steven Amundsen
MARGARETVILLE — Steven F. Amundsen, 27, of Margaretville, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, in Margaretville.

He was born March 1, 1972, in Margaretville, the son of David Amundsen and Diane Cure.

He married Christina Holdener on Feb. 2, 1991, in Margaretville.

He worked in construction at the Hunter Mountain and Belleayre Ski Center.

He lived all his life in Margaretville. He was a member of the dart league, softball league in Fleischmanns and Shokan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

Steven is survived by his wife, Christina; his son, Steven F. Amundsen Jr.; his parents, David and Diane Cure Amundsen of Margaretville; one sister, Deana Amundsen of Cobleskill; two brothers, Leif Amundsen of Margaretville and Noel Amundsen of Margaretville; one nephew, Kurtis Jansen of Cobleskill; his father, Steven Barley of New Windsor; and several aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Clinton Frasier Cure and Elma Minnie Cure.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at 3 p.m. at Margaretville Cemetery, following cremation.

Burial will be in the Margaretville Cemetery, Margaretville.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Bela Szikszay
FLEISCHMANNS — Bela Szikszay, 63, of Main Street, Fleischmanns, died Aug. 31, 1999.

He was born April, 26, 1936, in Hungary.

He was a self-employed machinist and operated Belka Products in Fleischmanns. He was a longtime area resident.

Bela is survived by his son, Gyorgy Szikszay of Hungary.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville, with the Rev. Chester N. Shew, officiating. Burial will be held in the Clovesville Cemetery, Fleischmanns. Calling hours will be prior to service Thursday morning.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Marion C. Nabinger
BAINBRIDGE — Mrs. Marion C. Nabinger, 81, of 154 Hillside Acres Lane, Bainbridge, passed away peacefully Monday evening, Sept. 6, 1999, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 28, 1917, in Ilion. Marion was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Keith Wood.

On July 1, 1939, she married Jack B. Nabinger, in Ilion. He predeceased her on Nov. 30, 1997.

Mrs. Nabinger was an inspector for E.C.D. of Bendix, Sidney. She retired in 1982, after 25 years with the company.

Marion was a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church, Sidney. She had been an active member of numerous organizations within her church.

Marion is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Nabinger of Cortland and Joy Austin of Fairport; two sons, Paul W. Nabinger of Sidney and Roy B. Nabinger of Bainbridge; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Garry Nabinger; a sister, Lillian; and a brother, William Wood.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, from the United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Sidney, with the Rev. David Masland, pastor, officiating.

Friends are invited to call after 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Sidney.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.

Frances A. Lunn
PLATTSBURGH — Frances A. Lunn, 80, of Main Street, Worcester, died on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.

Mrs. Lunn was born Nov. 25, 1918, in East Worcester, the daughter of Harry and Adeline (Head) Miller.

She married Orvis Lunn on Feb. 9, 1946, in Schenectady.

Mrs. Lunn was a longtime resident of Worcester, where she and her husband operated the local theater for 19 years. She was also a member of the Worcester Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She spent her winters in Bradenton, Fla.

Mrs. Lunn is predeceased by her husband, Orvis Lunn, a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force; and a twin brother, Fred Miller.

Mrs. Lunn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Carol Lunn and their sons, Corey and Kevin, of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Gertrude Pratt of Dallas, Pa., and Emma Williams of Clifton Springs; a brother, Jack Miller of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at noon at the United Methodist Church, Worcester, with the Rev. Joyce Allen officiating. It will be followed by committal services at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Lunn's name may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh or the Worcester Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Home.

Amabel Ullmann
ONEONTA — Amabel Ullmann, 86, of Oneonta, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at the Fox Nursing Home.

She was born April 21, 1913, in West New York, N.J., the daughter of Michael and Anna (Leonhart) Stender.

Mrs. Ullmann was first married to Joseph Stoehr, who passed away in 1972. She later married Alfred Ullmann, who died in 1994.

Amabel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Barbara Stoehr of Oneonta; two grandchildren, Julie Stoehr of Reston, Va. and Joel Stoehr of Birmingham, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. John (Doris) Shafer of Albany and Mrs. John (Joyce) Zink of Cranberry, N.J.; and several nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by a sister, Viola Boos; and a brother, Robert Rottmann.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at the Stamford Cemetery, Stamford, with the Rev. John Burns, pastor of the South Kortright Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow.

Friends may call at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta on Friday, from 1 to 2 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.

Contributions may be made to the Fox Nursing Home, 2 Norton Ave., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Arrangements are by the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Bruce A.  White
MOUNT UPTON — Bruce A.  White, 72, of Lockwood Road, Mount Upton, died on Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born on March 19, 1927, in  Johnson City, the son of the late Harry M. and Evah Barriger  White.

Mr.  White was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. At one time he was active in the Loyal Order of the Moose and was employed with Amphenol in Sydney.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard, and a daughter, Sandra.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose L. Twining  White of Mount Upton; four sons, Michael  White of Florida, Jim (Doreen)  White of New York, Bill (Georgie)  White of Georgia and Bruce (Anita)  White of Maryland; one daughter, Debra Piperata of Mount Upton; two sisters, Velma Burger of Rochester and Helen Nevin of  Johnson City; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at a time to be announced. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Riverside Cemetery, Whitney Point.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are by the Nichols Funeral Home of Whitney Point.

Florence E. Moody
MONTICELLO — Florence E. Moody of Monticello, and formerly of Hobart, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at Walnut Mountain Care Center, Liberty, she was 94.

Florence was born on May 22, 1905, in Grand Gorge, to the late Fred and Grace Blodgett Harris.

She had been a teacher in a one-room school at Rose's Brook for several years.

She was married to the Rev. George B. Moody, who survives at home.

Florence attended the Monticello United Methodist Church, and was very active within the United Methodist Organization working with children and the Women's Council. She also served on the National Level for the United Methodist Church.

Florence is survived by her husband, George at home; two nephews, Rodney Harris of Davenport and Roger Harris of Bloomville; one niece, Eldeen Pangia of Walden.

She was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Harris.

Cremation was held at the convenience of the family at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.

A graveside service for committal of ashes was held on Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart, with the Rev. Richard Elder, officiating.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at 2 p.m. in the Monticello United Methodist Church, 255 Broadway, Monticello, with the Rev. Rosemary Smith officiating.

Memorial contributions to the Monticello United Methodist Church, 255 Broadway, Monticello, N.Y. 12701, would be appreciated.

Arrangements by Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc., 66 St. John St., Monticello.

Wilbur W. Lewis
WELLS BRIDGE — Wilbur W. Lewis, 75, of Wells Bridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at the New York State Veterans' Home, Oxford.

He was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Wallington, N.J., the son of Wilbur and Mary (Bonak) Lewis.

He was married to Doris L. Dunn on May 5, 1945, in Norfolk, Va.

Mr. Lewis was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.

For many years he was employed as a professional truck driver and at one time owned and operated Bill's Garage in Lyndhurst, N.J.

Wilbur was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He has been a resident of Wells Bridge, since June 1987.

Wilbur is survived by his wife, Doris L. Lewis of Wells Bridge; three daughters and a son-in-law, Loretta Larkin of Wallington, N.J., Leann Lewis of Kenvil, N.J., and Lucinda and William List of Kenvil, N.J.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Donna Lewis of Croghan, Wilbur Jr. and Annette Lewis of North Brunswick, N.J. and Bryan and Nancy Lewis of Leesburg, Va.; a brother, John Lewis of Florida; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter; also several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla, with the Rev. Norman R. Tiffany, pastor of the Sand Hill United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.
