Bernard Crandall, 71, of 4701 County Route 22, Lacona, died Tuesday. Born in Manhattan, he lived in New York City for 45 years and lived in the Pulaski and Lacona area since 1976. He graduated from George  Washington High School in Manhattan. He was a security supervisor for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. in Oswego from 1977 to '93 and was a member of the New York City Police Department from 1954 to '76. He was a member of Cable Trail Post Veterans of Veterans War in Lacona, Wednesday Night Men's Golf League at Elm's Golf Course and New York City Police Benevolent Association. He was an Air Force veteran.Survivors: A daughter, Kathleen J. Crandall of Pulaski; three sons, Richard A. of Pulaski, William F. of Brewerton and John E. of Oswego; a sister, Joan Kronenburg of New York City; three brothers, George of Monroe, Robert of Wildwood, Fla., and Richard of Sandy Creek; four grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial, Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 52 Park St., Pulaski.

She had worked at Welch Allyn and was a founder of Freitag's Farm Market and Greenhouses. She was an Air Force veteran. A son, William, died in 1998.Survivors: A son, Allen of Syracuse; two daughters, Caroll Maholick of Clover, S.C., and Carrie Freitag of Baltimore; her husband, Herbert of Skaneateles; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter. She wrote a column reviewing children's books for The Syracuse Newspapers for more than 30 years and had been a teacher in Syracuse city schools. She was a member of Temple Society of Concord. Her husband, Robert F., died in 1999.Survivors: A daughter, Ellen Whitton of Seattle; two sons, Dr. Stuart of Palo Alto,  Calif., and Dr. Daniel of Bethesda, Md.; a sister, Florence Raymon of Berkeley,  Calif.; three grandchildren.
