Preceded in death by son John Slone. Survived by sister, Mary Duncan of Debord, Ky.; daughters, Mable Harris and Christine Stepp of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. CHURCH Margaret Lewis Church, age 79, died March 25, 2001 at Fairhaven Community Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky, Oh., following a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mrs. Church formerly lived in Cleveland and Euclid. The family moved to Worthington in 1964. She was preceded in death by parnets Ray and Margaret Lewis of Cleveland, Oh., brothers Jack and Raymond of Chicago, Ill. and James of Euclid, Oh. She is survived by husband, Ralph Church of Delaware, Oh.; daughters, Mardy Dane (Michael) of Kirtland, Oh., Holly Wendell (Jerry) of Westerville, Oh., Lynn Church-Akin (Jack) of Columbus, Oh.; son, Ralph Donald Church (Danila) of Padua, Italy. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. In 1943, Mrs. Church graduated from Kent State University. She was a loving wife for 57 years and a very caring mother. She worked for 28 years at Lazarus Northland and was a charter member of the Worthington American Cancer Society Thrift Shop. She was a member of the Westerville Community United Church of Christ, 770 County Line Rd., Westerville, Oh., where a memorial service will be held on Friday March 30 at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at Homeland Cemetery, Rootstown, Oh. COURTER Jeanette M. Courter, 82, of Columbus, was born September 30, 1918 in Derby, OH and died Monday, March 26, 2001 at her home in Columbus. Mrs. Courter was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star OES Chapter #74 in Mt. Sterling and was also a 50 year member of the Briggsdale Union United Methodist Church. Retired from Rockwell International. She was a faithful volunteer at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Leslie in 1999, father Bennett Musselman, mother Esther (Redman) Musselman, brothers William, Richard, Jack, Jim and Charles Musselman and sisters Josephine Harlan and Jane Karn. Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Dianne (Robert) Welsh of Jackson, MI and Pam (Weldon) Snyder of Orient; grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Florence, Stephen Welsh (fiancée, Betsy Dyk), Sarah Welsh Sean (Patty) Snyder and Bret (Pam) Snyder; great-grandchildren, Trista, Richie and Alex; brothers, Tom (Florence) Musselman, Jerry (Carol) Musselman, Ned (Betty) Musselman and David (Bertie) Musselman; sisters, Betty (Edwin) Bauhan and Ruth Hubbell; sisters-in-law, Doris Musselman and Pauline Musselman and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where the funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2001 with Rev. DAVIS James Clifton Davis, age 57, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at OSU East Medical Center. Self-employed as an interior and exterior decorator. Preceded in death by parents Willie and Velma Wilder Davis, 1 son, brother Purvis Davis, sisters Heather Mae Davis Erwin, Beatrice Davis and Willie Mae Lewis. Survived by longtime companion, Odette "Tan" Holland; sons, James Davis Jr., Anthony Davis, both of Jackson, Miss., James (Kimberly) Davis, Jeff Smith, John Hunt, Howard (Cindy) Hunt, all of Columbus, Oh.; daughters, Brenda (Joseph) Davis of Germany, Luciana Smith of Columbus, Oh.; brothers, R.J. Davis, Canton, Miss., Fountain Davis, Houston, Tex., Loyd (Donna Jean) Davis, Columbus (A.J.) Davis, both of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Emma Gilbert, Jackson, Miss., Aronia Poitier, Ypsilanti, Mich., Bonnie (Oliver) Grayson, Chicago, Ill.; aunt, Charlie Wilder of Mattson, Ill.; uncle, Matthew (Vernell) Wilder of Neb.; many grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. DOUGHERTY Helen Elizabeth Ferguson Dougherty, age 89, of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2001 at Arlington Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born Helen Elizabeth Ferguson in Wellston, Oh. to George and Jessie Ferguson. She was a life-long active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, teaching Sunday School and singing in the Choir. She enjoyed crafting and gardening, above all she loved her family. She graduated from North High School and attended Capital University. She was a member of Lorraine Chapter #1 O.E.S. She taught at several sheltered workshops in both Ohio and South Dakota. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Theodore B. "Ted" Dougherty; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sharon Dougherty of Upper Arlington; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Richard Callan of Springfield, Va.; grandchildren, Chad (Laurie) Dougherty of Columbus, Bryan (Susie) Dougherty of Hilliard, Christine (James) Wood of Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer (William) Lowe of Springfield, Va.; great-grandchildren, Leslie Najera, David Lowe and Taylor Lowe, all of Springfield, Va. HATFIELD Florence Marie (Rutter) Hatfield, age 83, went to be with Our Lord on March 25, 2001 while in Phoenix, Ariz. Home residence in Columbus, Oh., formerly of Chillicothe, Oh. Born February 3, 1918 to the late Russell and Selda (Kerns) Rutter. Married March 4, 1937 to Muhrel R. Hatfield. She was an active member of Whitethorne CCCU in Columbus and also attended North Valley Freewill Baptist Church while staying in Phoenix. Preceded in death by daughter Wanda Gessells, formerly of Chillicothe, sisters Helen Shock and Bertha Scott and brother Raymond Rutter. Survived by husband of 64 years, Muhrel R. Hatfield; daughters, Shirley (Don) Keller of Phoenix, Peggy (Dick) Smith and Lola (Steve) Brown, both of Lancaster, Oh.; sons, Russell (Beth) Hatfield of Phoenix, Robert (Sandy) Hatfield of Columbus, John Hatfield of Kansas City, Mo. and Richard (Ruth) Hatfield of Columbus; son-in-law, Richard Gessells of Dayton, Oh.; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Bernice Daniel of Columbus and Geneva Curran of Canton, Oh.; brother, Cyrus Rutter of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
