Carter Sarah Lucille Rust Carter, age 93, of Columbus, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at The Ohio State University Hospital. Born December 9, 1907 in Ironton, Oh. to the late John Henry and Maude S. Christian Rust. She is preceded in death by her husband Phillip L. Carter, brothers George Rust and John Rust, sisters Helen Casey Elam and Eileen Higgins and son-in-law Jesse Williams. Lucille is survived by her daughter and best friend, Nancy A. Stewart Williams of Columbus; grandson, T/Sgt. Kenneth J. (Sharon) Williams of Colorado Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Williams and Emily Frances Williams; sister, Betty Seagraves of Ravenswood, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Rueben L. Higgins of Coalgrove, Oh.; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Lucille was a member of Crestview Presbyterian Church where she belonged to several church groups. She was also very involved in the many activities at St. George on the Commons. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, Oh., 614-885-4006. Rev. Alan D. Wendt officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Park, Delaware, Oh. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. If they choose, friends may make memorial contributions to Crestview Presbyterian Church, 350 East Tulane Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43202 in Lucille's memory.

CHRISTOPHER Rev. Claude Allen Christopher, age 71, of Lockville, Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at Grant Hospital as a result of a auto accident in Fairfield County. Retired Plumber, Rockwell International. Pastor, Holy Hands Church, Lockville. Survived by wife, Wilda "Pete"; daughter, Nita (Steve) Leonard, Lockville; son Jack Christopher, Lockville; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola Queener, Columbus, Eula (Thurston) Smith, Gahanna; brother, Buford (Bessie) Christopher, Pataskala; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Preceded in death by parents Marion Chestly and Stella Anderson Christopher, son Bruce Christopher, granddaughter Nicole Leonard and 2 sisters. Friends may call at the MYERS FUNERAL HOME, Groveport, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where service will be conducted Monday 11 a.m. Rev. Joe Seymour officiating. Interment Glen Rest. CLARKSON Michael R. Clarkson, age 51, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at Kobacker House. He was a 1967 graduate of Watterson High School and also graduated from Franklin University. Mike was an employee for many years of Long's Book Store and most recently of Bank One. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas P. and Mario Clarkson and his brother Thomas "Pat" Clarkson. Mike is survived by his sister, Kevin Ann Ford, Columbus; nephew, Mike Ford (and son, Mick), Delaware; niece, Kim (Danny) Fackler, New Carlisle; aunt, Sr. Margaret Michael, SND, Cincinnati; and also many special and dear friends. Arrangements by SOUTHWICK-GOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL. Interment at a later date. Contributions may be made to Hospice at Riverside or to the Bishop Watterson High School Development Office. A memorial service will be held for "Reader Mike" at his favorite place, Dodridge Crossing, on Saturday April 7, 2001 at 4 p.m.

COLE Sylvia Mae (Robinson) Cole, age 91, of Grove City, passed away Friday, March 30, 2001 in Mill Run Gardens and Care Center, Hilliard. She was born August 19, 1909 in Roane County, W.Va., the daughter of the late James A. and Ivy H. (Hope) Taylor. Sylvia retired from Zaner-Bloser Co. of Columbus as a secretary. Survivors include niece, Karen (William) Wells; and a special great-niece, Melissa Wells, all of Grove City; brother, Paul (Thelma) Robinson of Melbourne, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde L. Cole, 3 brothers Ralph, Harold and Hoke Robinson. Graveside Funeral Service 2 p.m. Monday in Galloway Cemetery with Rev. Fred Kinne officiating. There will be no visitation. The family is being served by the RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, West Jefferson.

DARLING Booker T. Darling, age 69, March 28, 2001 at OSU Medical Center. Retired employee of DCSC. Member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board. Member of Active Older Adult Retirement Group at Eastside YMCA. Attended Heritage House Center. Preceded in death by parents Boyd and Isabell Darling. Survived by loving wife of 33 years, Betty Darling; children, Velda (Charles) Otey, David (Norma) Boyer, Rowena (Barrya) Coleman and Della (Daryl) Walker; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Waller and Jacqulyn Washington; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Broadus; brothers, Freddie (Carolyn) Darling, Johnny (Carol) Darling, Ronald (Pat) Darling and Donald (Shirley) Darling; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call Monday April 2, 2001 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 492 Oakwood Ave. after 6 p.m., where family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. Rev. Terry Townes officiating. Interment Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Canal Winchester, Oh. CROSBY FUNERAL HOME serving the family.

DePUY (PINONI) Josephine Pauline DePuy, of Westerville, age 85, went to be with the Lord March 28, 2001 at her residence. Josephine was one of 14 children born to Anthony Pinoni of Sicily and Helen Pinoni of Naples, Italy. Preceded in death by husband Kelden (Pete) and daughter Lillie Mae Sensabaugh. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Laura DePuy; grandsons, Cody and Nick DePuy; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Tom Henderson; grandchildren, AJ Willingham, Kaili and Chad Henderson; son-in-law, Carl Sensabaugh; granddaughter, Laura Polaske; and several great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Damie Pinoni, Margie Black, Roseanne Miller; and brother, Joseph Pinoni; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to nephew and niece, Johnnie and Alberta Campbell for their love and care. Josephine was a special and beloved mother. Josephine was a loving and compassionate person who always tried to make everyone happy, and was giving of herself to others. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. DeVAULT Kenneth E. DeVault, age 73, of Sunbury, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at home. Ken was a 23 year employee of Timken Roller Bearing and a Veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard during WW II. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Leola Mae DeVault and son Richard Lee DeVault. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Ann DeVault (Donald) Hewett of Poca, W.Va. and Deborah Sue DeVault (Donn) Larck of Marengo; and by his grandson, Shane (Carmen) Erb of Delaware. Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, 614-885-4006, where funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001. ERVIN Joalee Annis Ervin, age 85, March 28, 2001 at Kobacker House. Longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church. Retired employee of OSU in Food Service. Preceded in death by parents Jehu and Ester Donald, brothers Jehu Jr., Howard and John Donald and sister Rose Fitchett. Survived by loving husband of 53 years, James Carl Ervin; daughter, Jo Carlene Ervin; son, Ronald J. (Vivian) Ervin; brothers-in-law, Lee and Michael (Leila) Ervin; many nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends, including special friends, Harvey and Connie West. GIBBONS Lucille E. Gibbons, age 94, formerly of New Plymouth, died March 29, 2001 at Twin Maples Nursing Home, McArthur. Born November 12, 1906 in Garfield, W.Va. She was a caregiver. Member Church of Christ in Logan. Survived by daughter, Marjorie (John) Jewett of New Plymouth; son, Billy Gibbons of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents James and Alice Carey Duke, sons Melvin and Lloyd D. Gibbons, daughter Geraldine Pergrin and former husband Lloyd W. Gibbons. Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Sunday at GARRETT FUNERAL HOME, McArthur, where friends may call 1 hour prior to service. Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Rev. GILFILLEN Amy Knoop Gilfillen, age 81, of Columbus, died Monday, March 26, 2001 at the Columbus Alzheimer's Care Center. She was born July 11, 1919 in Piqua, Oh. to the late George H. and Minna (Schemmel) Statler. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years William W. Gilfillen and her brother Neil Statler. Her survivors include her children, Lorie Gilfillen of Columbus, Lisa (James) Ruddy of Westerville and Statler (Valerija) Gilfillen of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; 4 grandchildren; sister, Jean Beachler of Piqua, Oh.; and several nieces. Member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church, a Co-founder of Six Pence School and an avid Genealogist. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, Oh. with Rev. James Sledge officiating. A Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Oh. GREENE Thad E. Greene, age 76, of Carroll, formerly of Reynoldsburg, Friday March 30, 2001 at his residence. He was a highly decorated WW II U.S. Army veteran of the European Theatre. Preceded in death by wife Doloris, mother Martha Tussing and brother Homer Tussing. Survived by companion, Marisa Ong; brother, Robert Tussing, Baltimore. Friends may visit 12-2 p.m. Monday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Road N., (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Fr. Anthony Sarris, Chaplain of O.S.U. Medical Center, officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Friends who wish may contribute to Hospice of Fairfield Co., 1111 E. HERSHEY Herbert C. Hershey, Jr., 89, of Mechanicsville, Va. passed away Friday, March 30, 2001. Born April 19, 1911 in Columbus, Oh. and graduated from Urbana, Illinois High School and The Ohio State University. He served in WW II as Inspector General of the 63rd Infantry Division, later retired as vice-president of the Sutton Publishing Company, White Plains, N.Y. Mr. Hershey was a member of several business organizations, The Poor Richard Club of Philadelphia, and the Union League. Mr. Hershey is predeceased by his wife Marian of Studley, Va. Survivors include 2 sons, Scott and his wife, Leigh of Mechanicsville, Terry and his wife, Mary of Middletown, Md.; grandsons, Ryan and Kyle of Mechanicsville. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001 in the Mechanicsville Chapel of BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
