COMBS Dorothy H. Maxfield Combs, 75, longtime resident of Pickaway Co. for over 50 years, died Wednesday January 31, 2001. Preceded in death by husband Edgar E., 1986, sisters Millie Bolen and Ruth Craig. Survived by brother, William (Ruth) Grubb, Westerville; sister, Jane Haenszel, Grove City; grandsons, Josh Bailey and Colt Combs, son of Eddie Combs, Williamsport; close friend of 40 years, Ruth Hegele; many nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends whose lives she touched, she was a MOTHER TO MANY. She retired as executive secretary for Franklin County Childrens Services and North American Rockwell, Ohio Contractors Association. Founder and charter president National Association of Women in Construction, Columbus Chapter #86, Moose Auxiliary #11, American Legion Auxiliary #164 and Harrisburg VFW. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Allan Wright officiating. Interment Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling.

COWAN Julius L. Cowan, passed away suddenly in his home on Tuesday, January 30, 2001. He was preceded in death by his father Leo Cowan and mother Ella Mae (Cowan) Sherrod. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley A. Cowan; daughter, Terri (Bruce) Timberlake, Columbus, Oh.; sons, Marc (Deloris) Cowan, Hillsboro, Oreg., Erin and Julian Cowan, Portland, Oreg.; sister, Karyn Johnson, Columbus, Oh.; 7 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call Sunday 2-5 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Funeral service Monday 1 p.m. at the Ephesus S.D.A. DUDLEY John A. Dudley, Sr., age 69, of Summit Station, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2001. Retired from Jess Howard Electric and previously employed with Columbus Showcase. Preceded in death by parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers and son Rodney. Survived by wife of 51 years, Annabelle (Wassmuth) Dudley; sons, John Jr. (Laurie), Steve (Maggie), Bruce (Robin) and Chris (Ollie) Dudley; former daughter-in-law, Deborah (Collins) Dudley; grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Katie, Chris, Jason and Sarah; brothers, Ed and Lonnie (Wanetta) Dudley; sister, Virginia (Dudley) Smith. FRIEBIS Dorothy L. Friebis, 92, of Pataskala, died Thursday, February 1, 2001. Member of Etna United Methodist Church, Etna Grange and Summit Station Senior Citizens. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Tilden Friebis, parents William and Eva Hagy and 2 brothers. Friends may call at WARREN F. HARTZLER Mary Alice Hartzler, age 81, of Wickenberg, Ariz., formerly of Columbus, Oh. died Tuesday, January 30, 2001, Boswell Memorial Hospital, Sun City, Ariz. Member of Liberty Presbyterian Church and a 1937 graduate of North High School. Preceded in death by former spouse Donald V. Wood and brother Charles G. Mackey. Survived by husband, Thomas K. Hartzler of Ariz.; daughter, Carol (Jim) Kammerud of Worthington; step-sons, Steve Hartzler, Tom Hartzler, David Hartzler, Dan Hartzler and their families; grandchildren, Carrie (Jeremiah) Evans and Jesse Kammerud of Worthington; great-granddaughter, Abigail Evans; sisters-in-law, Norma Bachman of Columbus and Delores Johnson of Dallas, Tex. Funeral service Monday 11:30 a.m. February 5, 2001 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. HIVELY Robert Earl "Bob" Hively, 77, of Sour Run Rd., Ray, Oh., died February 2, 2001 at Adena Regional Medical Center. Born November 15, 1923 in Gallia County, Oh. Retired Fence Installer. He will be remembered and deeply missed. Preceded in death by son John Hively, parents James and Roxie (Tipton) Hively Donahoe and sister Beatrice Hively Taylor. Survived by wife, Maxine (Morey) Hively; children, Jackie (Calvin) Waters of Haysville, Kan., Jim Hively (Heidi) of Jackson, Kim (Delbert) Johnston of Wellston, Jerry Hively of Ray; 10 grandchildren; brother, Richard Hively of Arvada, Colo. HODGES Rosella Y. Hodges, age 79, Monday January 29, 2001 at the O.S.U. East Hospital. Preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Gertrude Lattimer, brothers Taylor and Jeff, sister Mosella Perkins, loving daughter Vickie (Hodges) Miller. Survived by devoted husband, Clarence Hodges; daughters, Marilyn Hilton McCoy, Jacqueline (Franklin) Houston and Cheri Hill; 11 adoring grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends. JAMES Gomer Byron James, age 81, Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Edgewood Manor, formerly of Youngstown, after a long illness, bravely born. Veteran of WW II serving in the 94th Division, 3rd Army. Retired Tool and Die Maker. He loved bowling and golfing and also woodworking and shared his talents with Twig 43 of Children's Hospital to which he was an honorary member. Survived by wife of 52 years, Lillian Weiss James; daughter, Diane Specht; son, Gary (Kathy Dlabick-James); brothers William (Delores) of Youngstown and Richard of Fla.; sisters, Ruth Zins, Mary Lou Bryne and Ann Terpak of Youngstown, June (Lee) Cornell of Madison, Oh.; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Arrangements will be handled by the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 444-1185. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Heartland Hospice, 6500 Busch Blvd., Suite 210, Columbus, Oh. 43229.

Jones Rebecca M. Jones, age 82, of Grove City, passed away Friday, February 2, 2001 at Sun Rise on the Scioto Care Center. Arrangements being completed with MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Grove City.

KOESTERS Rose Marie (Keller) Koesters, age 88, of Columbus, formerly a resident for over 25 years in Canoga Park, Calif., died February 2, 2001 at Columbus Community Hospital. Retired from McDonald Douglas. Preceded in death by husband Howard Frederick Koesters, parents Karl and Rilla Keller, brother Lawrence Keller, sister Alvera Kidwell. Survived by sisters, Mildred Hunt of Grove City and Florine Mettle of Columbus; sister-in-law, Dorothy Keller of Columbus; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends Monday 2-4 and from 6 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St. Burial Wednesday in San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, Calif.
