Roger Hoaglin
PAYNE - Roger E. Hoaglin, 69, Payne, died at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born June 8, 1931, in Scott, the son of Ernest and Hazel (Adams) Hoaglin. In 1952, he married Genevieve Zartman, who survives. He worked at Dana-Weatherhead, Antwerp, Chrysler-Amplex and GKN/Sinter Metals, both of Van Wert. He was a member of Edgerton Wesleyan Church, Edgerton, Ind.
Also surviving are two sons, Steven of Convoy and Rod, Payne; a daughter, Shirley Meynardie, Payne; two sisters, Janet Welker of Venedocia and Linda Castle, Van Wert; and two granddaughters.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Helen Schaffner and Mary Ann Rogers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. (Ohio time) Saturday at the church, with Rev. James Keilholtz. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at Slade Funeral Home, Payne.
Preferred memorials are to Payne EMS or the church.

Janet Schieber
EDGERTON - Janet E. Schieber, 69, Edgerton, died at 9 a.m. Thursday at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Oaks, Pa., the daughter of Clarence and Hannah (Fulmer) Kreamer. In 1955, she married Chester Schieber, who died in 1996. She was a librarian at Edon Library from 1988, until she retired in 1996. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, rural Hamilton, Ind. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and Retired Librarians Association.
Surviving are two sons, Allen of Rickman, Tenn. and Richard, Fremont, Ind.; a brother, Ronald Smith, Antwerp; three sisters, Mary DeWees of Royersford, Pa., Elizabeth Knickerbocker, Lafayette, N.Y. and Dorothy Simmons, Syracuse, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Rev. Kathie Hostetter officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to Community Hospitals of Williams County Hospice or the church.

Benjamin Gamble
NORTH ADAMS, Mich. - Former Fayette area resident Benjamin A. (Ben) Gamble, 86, North Adams, Mich., died Wednesday at Bixby Medical Center, Adrian.
He was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Blue Island, Ill., the son of Jesiah and Maude (Crudell) Gambler. He married Violet Buzzy, who died in 1972. In 1976, he married Hazel Sackett, who survives. He retired in 1976 from Norfolk & Western (Wabash) Railroad, where he was a machine operator for 35 years.
Also surviving are five sons, James of Lecanto, Fla., Wayne Sr. of Hillsdale, Mich., Clifford Sr. of Jonesville, Mich., William Miller of Munson, Mich. and Daniel Whetstone of Addison, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Handy of Jonesville, Mich. and Kristina Lee of Montpelier; two brothers, Howard and Herbert Gambler, both of Defiance; a sister, Mable Johnson, Bryan; and 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Mary; a stepdaughter, Darlene Miller; three brothers; a sister; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kurtz-Towns Funeral Homes, North Adams, Mich., with Rev. Russell Payne officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Union Cemetery, Fayette. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to the family.

Enid Flint
BOWLING GREEN - Former Paulding resident, Enid (Bland) Flint, 80, Bowling Green, died at 7 a.m. Thursday at Bowling Green Manor.
She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Oakwood, the daughter of Charles and CeCile (Weible) Bland. In 1936, she married Donald Flint, who died in 1998. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Nazarene, Grover Hill.
Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Hammon, Bowling Green; a son, Paul, Broughton; three sisters, Mrs. Dick (Anna) Myles of Hedges, Zada Hunter of Broughton and Carole Davenport, Garrett, Ind.; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Cletus, Haldin (Bud), Charles Jr., Edmund and Bill Bland; two sisters, Dorma Matthew and VadaMae Bland; two half brothers, Franklin and Lester Bland; and a half sister, Lucille Richhart.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, with Rev. Bernard Miller officiating. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery, Broughton. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Larry Krumel
TOLEDO - Word was received of the death of Larry J. Krumel, 79, Toledo, who died Sept. 9 at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Defiance, the son of Jacob and Estelle (Nagel) Krumel. In 1947, he married Frances Krumel, who died in 1969. He was an accountant starting in the late 1940s at Art Iron Co., Toledo, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was at the landing at Iwo Jima, the liberation of the Philippine islands and was in Tokyo Bay at the surrender of Japan. He was a member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church, Toledo, and its Holy Name Society.
Surviving are five daughters, Dianne Hopfer, Mrs. Tom (Cindy) Smith, Roxanne Esterline, and Janice Krumel, Toledo, and Cheryl Krumel; a son, Wesley, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a special friend, JoAnn Holtfreter, Toledo; and seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Also preceding him in death were a sister, Grace; and a brother, Edward.
Services were held Tuesday at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church, Toledo. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo. Arrangements were handled by Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, Toledo.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Township or American Heart Association.

HOLGATE - Felipe Arroyo, 77, Holgate, died this morning at Holgate Quality Care Nursing Center. Arrangements are pending at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.

Yvonne Touney
WAUSEON - Yvonne B. Touney, 95, Wauseon, died Wednesday morning at Fulton Manor Nursing Home, Wauseon, following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 31, 1905, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Dolan) Steinetz. She married Paul Touney, who preceded her in death. She and her husband owned and operated two movie theaters in Wauseon and manufactured desk pen sets for the U.S. government. She was a volunteer at Flower Hospital, Toledo, for many years.
Surviving are a son, Dwayne Bonnell, Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, LaVonne Bliss, Wauseon; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Caspar Catholic Church, Wauseon, with Rev. Robert Holden officiating. Burial will be in Wauseon Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon.
Preferred memorials are to the church building fund or Fulton Manor Nursing Home.

Ray DeVore
GILBOA - Ray P. DeVore, 90, Gilboa, died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa.
He was born Aug. 11, 1910, in Gilboa, the son of William and Lena (Sites) DeVore. In 1936, he married Esther Roy, who died in 1995. He retired from the former Sylvania Co., Ottawa, and was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II.
Surviving are a son, Paul, Mansfield; a sister, Mary Mitchell, Findlay; and two grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Ralph; and a sister, Leslie Steinman.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa, with Rev. Tim Eding officiating. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa.
Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Association.

VAN WERT - Services for Dale S. Gilliland were held today at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, with Rev. W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Among survivors are his wife, Golda Wundel (Kanney); and a sister, Mary Kline.
