Catherine E. (Tyus) Cole
Wednesday, November 17th, 2004
Catherine E. (Tyus) Cole, 44, Columbus, died late Monday evening at the Ohio State University Hospital East Campus in Columbus after suffering the past 20 years with lupus.
Mrs. Cole was born August 3, 1960 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Rufus E. & Della F. (Turner) Tyus and resided in Jefferson until moving to Columbus in 1980. She was a 1978 graduate of Jefferson Area High School. She was married to John L. Cole on August 28, 1982 in Columbus.
Mrs. Cole has been employed the past 24 years at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, working as a pharmacy technician and in the pharmacy billing department. She is a member of the Jefferson Community Church of God in Christ. She loved playing volleyball and softball, enjoyed gymnastics and was a cheerleader in high school. She enjoyed traveling, doing word searches and playing cards. Mrs. Cole was a real people person in her work and social life. She endeared her family.
She is survived by her husband, John L. Cole, a son, James Michael LaMont Cole at home, a daughter, Carolyn L. Destefani of Bellbrook, Ohio, two grandchildren, Cayla L. & C. J. Destefani, her mother, Della F. Tyus of Jefferson, seven brothers and sisters, Edward E. Turner of Columbus, Gary A. Tyus of Jefferson, Christine L. Tyus of Ashtabula, Robert C. Tyus of SanDiego, Calif., Melvena M. Tyus of Columbus, Charlene A. Ritcher of Jefferson & Roslyn E. Tyus of Rock Creek and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Tyus in 1997 & a brother, Marion W. Johnson in 2002.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:30 P. M. at the Jefferson Community Church of God in Christ, 1381 St. Rt. 167, Jefferson, with the Rev. James Harris of the church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 A. M. to 12:30 P. M. at the church prior to the service. The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

Goldie H. Langheid
Sunday, November 14th, 2004
Goldie H. Langheid, 95, a resident of Eagleville and residing at the Jefferson Medical Associates (Jefferson Geriatric Center) died early Saturday morning at the Geneva Memorial Hospital UHHS, where she had been a patient the past week.
She was born January 28, 1909 in Hoytville, Ohio, the daughter of Winfield & Bertha (Wansetler) Ferguson and has been a resident of Ashtabula County the past 83 years, living in Eagleville since 1943.
Mrs. Langheid enjoyed needlework, fancy work and farmed with her husband Martin.
Survivors include four children, Betty M. Piper of Kinsman, Dorothy M. Ketola Wolf of Painesville, Helen I. Gage of Rome Twp. and Philip A. Langheid of Coeurda’lene, Idaho, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Martin Ketola in 1938, her second husband, Martin V. Langheid in 1992, a son, Martin “Bud” Ketola, a brother, Lawrence Ferguson and sisters, Mary B. Fortney and Martha B. Camp.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2004 at 1:00 P. M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Gordon Emerson, lay pastor at the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Eagleville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 A. M. to 1:00 P. M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Country Neighbor Program, 39 S. Maple St., Orwell, Ohio 44076 or Regional Home Health Services, 3949 Jefferson Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 or to the Jefferson Medical Associates Activities Dept., 222 E. Beech St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.

Sean Justin Morisue
Tuesday, November 9th, 2004
Sean Justin Morisue, 14, a resident of St. Rt. 46 in Plymouth Twp. and an eighth grade student at West Jr. High School, died Sunday evening from injuries sustained in an auto/pedestrian accident on Jefferson Rd. in Plymouth Twp.
He was born January 29, 1990 in Ashtabula, the son of Jayne M. (Visnosky) and Sean Morisue and has lived in Ashtabula and Jefferson all of his life.
Justin lived life to the fullest. He loved his pets, especially his dogs and horses,enjoyed hunting & fishing, loved music and was athletically active, playing 7th grade baseball at West Jr. High and was involved with Ashtabula Midget Football and Ashtabula Little League.
He is survived by his parents, Jayne M. Morisue of Plymouth Twp. and Sean Morisue of Marengo, Ohio, his step-father, Edgar Johnson of Plymouth Twp., his grandparents, Jayne Visnosky of Plymouth Twp., Glenn T. Morisue of Saybrook Twp. and Barbara J. Adams of Hillard, Ohio, brothers, J. R. Johnson of Jefferson, David Johnson of New Salem, N. C., Domanic Hanshaw & Tylan Morisue, both of Marengo, Ohio, aunts, Dianna Visnosky of Jefferson & Tiffany Morisue of Hillard and uncles, Nick Visnosky of Jefferson and Joe Visnosky of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Nick Visnosky, Sr.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A. M. Friday at the Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Rd., Ashtabula, with Pastor Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Plymouth Twp.
Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 6-9 P. M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, in care of Jayne Morisue, 2662 St. Rt. 46 North, P. O. Box 372, Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home and church.

Alma Hansen
Tuesday, November 2nd, 2004
Alma L. Hansen, 77, St. Rt. 193, Dorset, died Sunday evening at the Country Club Retirement Center.
She was born March 13, 1927 in Cleveland, the daughter of Carl R. & Gertrude (Behrendt) Hansen and has lived in this area since 1975, coming from Cleveland. Miss Hansen was a graduate of Hiram College and taught kindergarten in the Cleveland Area Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1975.
Miss Hansen was an artist, painting water colors, did crocheting, enjoyed reading and loved animals.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Virginia R. Hansen of Vale, Oregon, a niece, Joyce M. Cornell of Dorset and two nephews, David C. Hansen of Warsaw, Ind. & Darrell R. Hansen of Vale, Ore., several great-nieces and nephews and two close friends for more than 40 years, William Fleishman of Greensboro, N. C. & Walter Schmidt of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald C. Hansen.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 P.M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Edward Pickard of the Dorset Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dorset Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd., Kingsville, Ohio 44048, envelopes will also be a the funeral home.

Hazel E. Morgan
Monday, December 26th, 2044
Hazel E. Morgan, a life long Jefferson area resident, died Saturday morning in the emergency room at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born in New Lyme Twp., the daughter of DeForest & Densie (Wilder) Gibbs, was a 1925 graduate of Jefferson High School and a graduate of the Spencerian Business College in Cleveland.
Mrs. Morgan retired in 1993 from the office at Old Reserve Realty. She also previously worked for 12 years in the treasurer’s office at the courthouse and for the Federal Land Bank in Jefferson and Cortland.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Jefferson, 74 year member of the former Sunshine and later the Covered Bridge Chapter, O. E. S., the Pamona Grange, was a volunteer for the Red Cross and a volunteer at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center, starting as a Gray Lady.
She is survived by a niece, Caroline Gollais of Sarasota, Fla. and a great-nephew & niece, Eric Childs of Brooklyn, N. Y. and Lyla Childs of New York, N. Y.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Morgan in 1970.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 P. M. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 41 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047. The Rev. Bruce Larson of the church will be officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery, New Lyme Twp.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 P. M. at the church. Contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ Memorial Fund at the above address, envelopes will also be available at the church during the service hours. The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

Katherine G. Roberts
Saturday, January 1st, 2005
Katherine G. Roberts, 86, a resident of the Jefferson Medical Associates died there on Friday evening.
She was born December 21, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Solomon & Marie (Cohen) Blattner and has been a resident of the Jefferson area the past five years, spending several years in Lake Co. and Roanoke, VA before coming to Jefferson.
Mrs. Roberts was a teller with Society National Bank for 18 years, retiring in 1982. She was a tournament bridge player, playing in three different leagues.
Survivors include two children, Robert L. Mervis of Solon & Judi M. Smego of Jefferson, two step-daughters, Carol Evans of Sagamore Hills & Mary Chamberlain of New York, one grandson, Scott Mervis of Solon and seven step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, William S. Mervis in 1972, her second husband, John L. Roberts in 1998 and two brothers, Richard Blattner & a borhter in childdhood.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:30 P. M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with an informal memorial service beginning at 8:30 P. M. Cremation will take place at the Family Care Group Cremation Center. Burial of ashes will be in the Temple Emanuel Section of Hillcrest Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 12200 Fairhill Rd., Cleveland, Ohio 44120, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
