JACK R. VOLTZ
JACK R. VOLTZ, 43, of N. 8th Street Martins Ferry, Ohio, died, Saturday December 29, 2001, at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
He was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on Friday, August 1, 1958, a son of the late Jack R. Voltz and Beverly Collins Anderson who survives him of Long Beach, California.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Sandy Dinardo Voltz, one son Jeremiah R. Voltz of Martins Ferry and one daughter Amy Voltz of St. Joe Beach, Florida. Also surviving are one brother Joseph Sabol of Reading, Pa.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated Monday December 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Rev. Thomas Magary as the celebrant. Interment followed in St. Marys Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
ELIZABETH K. HEINIGER
ELIZABETH K. HEINIGER, 95, of Cadiz, Ohio, formerly of Vine Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Friday, January 11, 2002, in East Ohio Regional Hospital.
She was born in Wheeling, WV., on Friday, December 15, 1905, a daughter of the late George and Anna Heil Muth.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar W. Heiniger; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a son, William R. Caldwell of Ft. Collins, CO. and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, January 17,2002, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Peter Pilger, officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

JAMES H. DEAN
JAMES H. DEAN, 91, formerly of Vine St., Martins Ferry, Ohio and The Home for Men, Warwood, W. Va., died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 29, 1910, a son of the late Ross and Alice Behr Dean.
He was a retired inspector at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret J. Long Dean.
James is survived by one son James A. Dean of Bismarck, N. D.; one daughter Beverly Kurner and her husband Dale of Wheeling, W. Va.; six grandsons Michael and Doug Kurner, Wheeling, W.Va.; James T., Dan, Billie and Robert Dean all of Bismarck, N. D.
Funeral services were held, Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at the funeral home, wth Pastor Van D. Fisher, officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
THOMAS PEARSON
THOMAS PEARSON, 75, of High Street, Bridgeport, Ohio, died, Friday, February 15, 2002, at Heartland of Lansing Nursing & Rehab. Center, Lansing, Ohio.
He was born in Fayette Co., Pa. on Wednesday, November 3, 1926, the son of the late Thomas and Ella Mae Ashby Pearson.
Thomas was a retired custodian at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel/DuVall Center, Wheeling, W.Va. He served in the U. S. Army during the
Korean War. He was a member of the Shiloh Temple Church, Bridgeport, a member of the American Legion Post 89, Wheeling, Knights of Pithean Ed E. Wantzer Lodge, Triadelphia, and a Lifetime member of the D.A.V. of Bellaire.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 5 sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Daisey Womack McGhee Pearson; 5 sons, Ronald Pearson and his wife Penny, Wheeling, Percy McGhee and his wife, Melanie, Bellaire, Curtis McGhee and his wife Shelia, Bridgeport, John McGhee, Bridgeport, Charles McGhee, Clarksburg, W. Va.; 5 daughters, Linda Pearson, Maryland, Deanna Cason and her husband, Keith, Steubenville, Pauline foster and her husband Donald, Wheeling, Pearl Foston, Bridgeport, Alice Hill and her husband Eligha, McMechen, W. Va., 54 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Shiloh Temple Church, 100 First St., Bridgeport, Ohio, with Elder James Agnew officiating. Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
GLENN BALK
GLENN BALK, 87, of County Road 1, Rayland, Ohio, formerly of Old Route 7, died Friday, February 15, 2002, in Heartland of Lansing Nursing Home, Lansing, Ohio.
He was born in Martins Ferry on Sunday, May 24, 1914, a son of the late George and Helen Cozma Balk.
Glenn was a retired fire inspector at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Mill, Yorkville plant. He served in World War II in the U. S. Army. He was a life member of the D.A.V., Bellaire Post No. 117, since 1946. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 0888 and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace McElroy Balk and two brothers, Alex and Nick Balk.
Surviving are three sons, Glenn Balk and his wife, Doloras of Rayland, George Balk and Nancy Callarik of Martins Ferry and Richard Balk and his wife, Irmgard of Yorkville; a sister, Rose Long of Montery Park, California; a brother, Raymond Balk and his wife, Virginia of Blaine, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home February 18, 2002 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joe sanders officiating. Interment followed in Belmont County Memorial Park, St. Clairsville.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Ohio Division of wildlife, 1840 Belcher Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43224-1329.
ELIZABETH E. KERI
ELIZABETH E. KERI, 92, formerly of West Road, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 26, 2002, in Heartland of Lansing Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Lansing, Ohio.
She was born on Tuesday, October 12, 1906, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Petrusovich Pogan.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by her husband, Joseph Keri; 2 sisters, Helen Berher and Mathilda Kunczt; a brother, John M. Pogan.
Surviving are her sister, Irene Jurovcik of Lansing, Ohio; god-child, Elizabeth Simon of Weirton, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Mary Pogan of Blaine, Ohio; a nephew, Joseph Berher and his wife, Dee, of Montgomery, Ala.; a nephew, Anthony Kuntcz and his wife, Evelyn, Peru, Ind.; a niece, Maryanna Kunczt, Peru, Ind.; a nephew, John S. Pogan and his wife, Ann, Flushing, Ohio; a niece, Suzanne DeVault and her husband, James, Englewood, Fl.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, Friday, March 1, 2002 at 10 a.m. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

STELLA S. KATA
STELLA S. KATA, 83, formerly of South Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in East Ohio Regional Hospial.
Stella was born in Martins Ferry, on Saturday, March 16, 1918, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Koval Kata.
She was a retired clerk for the former Ohio Power Co., Bellaire, Ohio. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Catholic Womens Club and the Polish National Alliance, all of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Kata; two sisters, Genevieve Frey and Stefka Sudol.
Surviving are her sister, Wilma Bykoski of Sebastian, Fla.; three nieces, Kay Ann Tate and her husband, James, of Mt. Joy, Pa., Stephanie Anderson and her husband, Douglas, of Titusville, Fla., and Carol Adams of Melbourne, Fla.; a grand-niece, Kimberly Benefield and her husband, Phillip, of Tallahassee, Fla.; a grand-nephew, James Cosco III and his wife, Linda, of Snohomish, Wa.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated Friday, March 8, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, with Rev. Thomas Magary as celebrant.
Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
