AlbertG.'Abbie'McCrory
Father of Tiffin resident

Albert G. "Abbie" McCrory, 75, of 6986 CR 140, Findlay, died at 6:52 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in the Emergency Room at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

He was born in Tiffin, Oct. 30, 1924, to Floyd and Esther (Hetzel) McCrory. His wife, Irma (Daniels) McCrory, whom he married June 2, 1951, died March 15, 1978. On Nov. 2, 1979, he married Barbara Cotner, who survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Daniel Ross McCrory of Rawson and Jaime Albert McCrory of Findlay; a daughter, Mrs. Bernie (Christine) Backus of Tiffin; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two step-daughters, Mrs. Jim (Lisa) Saums and Mrs. Douglas (Kelly) Parker, both of Findlay; a brother, William McCrory of Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Betty Lehman of Toledo.

A son, Timothy McCrory, died in May 1975.

Mr. McCrory retired as a machine attendant from RCA in 1984, after 32 years of service. For the past 10 years he had worked in the warehouse at the Findlay Sears Store.

A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, where he attained the rank of Seaman 2nd Class, he was a life member and past commander of the Findlay AMVETS Post 21.

He also served as past department commander of AMVETS State of Ohio (two consecutive terms 1984-1986) and in 1986 received the honor of Commander of the Year for the United States of America. He also held all state offices prior to becoming commander of AMVETS State of Ohio and was the current Department Inspector General AMVETS State of Ohio.

He also was a life-member of Findlay VFW Post 5645 and a member of the Wayside Golf Club.

Pastor Gerald Wade, post commander of AMVETS 21, will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday service in the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Hopewell Township, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Hancock Veterans Memorial Squad.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where AMVETS memorial services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Ryan Thomas Myers
Infant son

Ryan Thomas Myers, infant son of Dan Myers and Wendy Little of Clyde, was born and died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in The Toledo Hospital.

Survivors include his parents; two half-sisters, Tabitha Myers of Fremont and Danielle Myers of Clyde; grandparents, Tom and Johnnie Myers of Green Springs and Jack Little of Fremont; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship, Fremont.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Visitation will be 1:30-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Willis E. Einsel
Retired Lt. Col. US Air Force

Willis E. Einsel, 65, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at his home in rural Tiffin.

He was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Tiffin, to the late David W. Sr. and Naomi (Williams) Einsel. His wife, Lady Frances (Jones) Einsel, whom he married Jan. 25, 1959, in Big Spring, Texas, survives.

Other survivors include: a son, David Z. Einsel of Houston, Texas; and two brothers, David W. Einsel Jr. of Tiffin and Henry L. Einsel, formerly of Clyde.

A 1953 graduate of Columbian High School, Mr. Einsel graduated in 1957 from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a minor in mathematics. He had resided in the Tiffin area since 1986.

Also after graduating from Ohio State as a reserve officer training corps student, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He entered active duty in September 1957 for pilot training; after the training he was assigned to combat crew training in the B-47 strategic bomber. Subsequent assignments in C-124, C-123, C-47 and B-52 aircraft resulted in the accumulation of 6,000 hours of military flying.

Assignments with the Strategic Air Command encompassed 16 years of his career. Missions were flown worldwide with the Military Airlift Command; he was assigned a tour of duty in Vietnam with the Tactical Air Command flying in B-12 aircraft and also completed 27 combat missions and 309 flying hours in B-52 aircraft over Vietnam.

He also completed academic instructor courses, Squadron Officers School, Air War College with the Air University and the Air Force on-scene commanders course. Three years were served at OSU as an assistant professor of aerospace studies. He was the squadron operations officer of the 69th Bombardment Squadron for three years.

His awards included: the Meritorious Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Medal with seven Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Readiness Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four clusters and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

On Oct. 1, 1986, Lt. Col. Einsel retired after 28 years of military service.

His civilian service included assisting the cities of Abilene and Sweetwater, Texas with establishing an emergency management and safety plan and, as the local emergency plan commissioner, was instrumental in implementing the EMA disaster plan for Seneca County.

He was given the "One Thousand Points of Light" award by President Bush for his volunteer work in Seneca County. While in Texas, he contributed many hours to the Abilene Community Theatre and to the Abilene Art Museum for its Buffalo Gap fund raiser.

Since 1986, he served as volunteer projectionist at the Ritz Theatre; was a member of Tiffin Kiwanis Club, Post 169 American Legion and the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. In May 1988, he was elected Republican precinct committeeman for Clinton Township and assisted in rewriting the zoning resolution for Clinton Township.

The Rev. Dr. Robert E. Buckley will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Abilene Community Theatre, 801 S. Mockingbird, Abilene, Texas 79605 or the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.

Charles Edward Schemmel
Former Libbey-Owens employee

Charles Edward Schemmel, 86, of Orchard Grove Drive, Clyde, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in St. Francis Nursing Home, Green Springs.

He was born in Toledo, Jan. 4, 1914, to John and Jessie (Swartz) Schemmel. On June 24, 1961, he married Julia Lee Hughes, who survives.

Survivors also include: two step-daughters, Mrs. William (Judith) Stiger of Clyde and Janet Provenzale of Fremont; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A sister, Deloras Schemmel, is deceased.

Mr. Schemmel, who attended St. James Elementary School and graduated in 1934 from Libbey High School, had been employed in production at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass.

A resident of Clyde since 1998, coming from Toledo, he attended the First United Methodist Church, Clyde and was a former member of the Toledo Elks.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. John Bailey officiating. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to Sandusky County Hospice, the church or the American Heart Association.

Florence Lynch
Clyde homemaker

Florence Lynch, 86, of Limerick Road, Clyde, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in The Arbors of Clyde.

She was born May 25, 1913, in Grundy, Va., to Henry and Alafare (Stiltner) Collins. Her first husband, Ernest Cook, whom she married Dec.. 30, 1935, in Grundy, died June 30, 1960. On Nov. 30, 1966, in Lancaster, she married Harley R. Lynch, who died Oct. 28, 1976.

Survivors include: three step-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Collins of Akron; and her caregiver, Eva Collins of Clyde.

Three brothers, Glen Wilmar, Charlie Hawkins and Dewey Collins, and a sister, Lou Collins, are deceased.

A member of the Greenlawn Church of Christ, Mrs. Lynch was a homemaker.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Greenlawn Church of Christ, 1793 W.McPherson Hwy., Clyde, with the Rev. Russell Pannell officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Floral Hills Memorial Park, Lancaster.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde. The body also will lie in state after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Cinda C. Macaulay
Fostoria homemaker

Cinda C. Macaulay, 53, of 125 N. Vine St., Fostoria, died at 10:21 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

She was born in Dover, Aug. 2, 1946, to Charles Retzler and Joy (Bowers) Retzler-Reiser. Her mother survives in Dover. On June 20, 1970, in New Philadelphia, she married Donald E. Macaulay, who survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Joy) Payne Jr. of Fostoria; two brothers, Charles Retzler of Florida and Dan Retzler of Michigan; and a granddaughter.

Her father is deceased.

Mrs. Macaulay, a 1964 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, was a homemaker.

There will be no service or visitation. The Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn B. Steigerwalt
Homemaker

Marilyn B. Steigerwalt, 76, of Stinchcomb Drive, Fostoria, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born May 10, 1923, in Sandusky, to Russell and Helen M. (Bates) Dann. Her husband, Harold W. Steigerwalt, whom she married Dec. 9, 1945, in Toledo, died May 2, 1989.

Survivors include: a son, William Steigerwalt of Bloomdale; a daughter, Mrs. David (Maryann) Hamilton of Findlay; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Richard and David Steigerwalt, also are deceased.

Mrs. Steigerwalt was a homemaker.

The Rev. Branson Hawkes will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery (formerly Memory Gardens) near Arcadia.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made a charity of the donor's choice.

R. Galen Bame
Retired Hancock County farmer

R. Galen Bame, 94, of 840 West St., Carey, died at his residence at 1:34 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000.

He was born in Big Lick Township, Hancock County, Nov. 27, 1905, to Sharon S. and Vertie D. (Newcomer) Bame. On Feb. 11, 1931, he married Gladys M. Dible, who died Oct. 25, 1983.

Surviving are: four children, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Lee, Mrs. Ed (Nancy) Hotelling and Luana Bame, all of Carey and Paul Bame of Findlay; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Walter (Maxine) Roynon of Carey.

A son, Eldon; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Mabel and Hazel Lee, also are deceased.

Mr. Bame, a 1923 graduate of Vanlue High School and a 1929 graduate of Findlay College, where he played football, was a sports enthusiast, especially the Carey Blue Devils, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.

A retired Hancock County farmer, Mr. Bame attended Memorial United Methodist Church and Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene. He served as a Sunday School teacher at both churches and also served on the Vanlue School Board.

The Rev. Cynthia Morrison and the Rev. Paul Goetz will be the co-officiants at the 11 a.m. Wednesday service in the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to both churches or the Midwest Bible College, in care of the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio 43316-1169.

Lorena M. Sickmiller
Former Lamsons employee

Lorena M. Sickmiller, 82, died at 8:32 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in the Independence House, 1000 Independence Road, Fostoria, where she resided.

She was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Sandusky County, to Chester and Mary Bertha (Oberhaus) Trappe. Her husband, Donald Sickmiller, whom she married Aug. 18, 1953, in Angola, Ind., died Aug. 12, 1979.

Survivors include: two sons, Gordon C. Lamb of Toledo and Dale W. Lamb of Columbus; and eight grandchildren.

A sister also is deceased.

Mrs. Sickmiller, a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Gibsonburg, had been employed at Lamsons of Toledo for 20 years.

Private graveside services and interment will be in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo.

The Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Delbert F. Falter
Brother of Tiffin resident

Delbert F. Falter, 74, of St. Stephen, died at 7:17 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Mercy Hospital of Willard.

He was born Nov. 14, 1925, in St. Stephen to the late Anthony L. and Josephine M. (Blum) Falter.

Surviving are: a sister, Alberta M. Kowpak of Tiffin; four nephews and four nieces.

A brother, Norman Falter, also is deceased.

Mr. Falter, a retired farmer, was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Stephen Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church, 11658 E. TR 44, Attica, OH 44807.
