Walter M. Fry
Former Tiffin resident

Walter M. Fry, 82, of Windsor Manor Nursing Home, 10426 S. Roberts Rd., Palos Hills, Ill., died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in Palos Community Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Tiffin to Truman and Bertha (Funk) Fry. He never married .

Survivors include a brother, Robert, of LaGrange, Ill.; a sister, Virginia Fry of Palo Alto, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fry graduated from Columbian High School in 1935; served in World War II; was a farmer; and a member of the Second United Church of Christ.

Private graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the McCutchenville cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Nelle Herold Talbot
Former Tiffin resident

Word has been received of the death of Nelle Herold Talbot, who would have been 100 years old Feb. 20, 2001, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in Santa Rosa, Calif., following a series of strokes.

She was born in Mill Gap, Va., to Horace Frye and Permelia (Gilmore) Herold. She married Adolph F. Talbot Oct. 15, 1924, and moved to Tiffin where she resided until moving to California in 1992.

Survivors include: a son, Ralph of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a daughter, Virginia Casper of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband on Dec. 20, 1965, and seven siblings.

During her nearly 70 years in Tiffin, she was an active member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church and its Choir Mothers Guild; had various offices, including that of president, in Saint Margaret's Guild and later The Episcopal Church Women; active member of the Tiffin Women's Club; and more recently, Heidelberg Fellows.

Burial will be at a later date in Maplegrove cemetery, Granville.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Old Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, c/o The Parish, 125 E. Market St., Tiffin.

Milton Howard Krupp
Retired police sergeant

Milton Howard Krupp, 66, of 910 E. Main St., Bellevue, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Krupp was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Sandusky to Myron and Jean (Kellogg) Krupp who are deceased. His former wife was Karen (Klohn) Krupp of Bellevue.

Survivors include: three daughters, Amy Woodruff, Jenny Lewis and Priscila "Perky" Chumley, all of Bellevue; five grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas, also of Bellevue.

He served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy, June, 1952-Aug., 1955; served with the Bellevue Police Department for 13 years retiring with the rank of sergeant; worked for the American and Economy Baler Company in Bellevue retiring in 1999; a member of the Bellevue Moose Lodge 238, VFW Post 1238 and Lodge 273 F and AM; a former member of Bellevue Eagles Aerie 490 and Elks Lodge 1013.

Private family funeral services will be Thursday at the Mausoleum Chapel, Restlawn Memorial Park, Huron, with the Rev. Sandra Hutchinson officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.

At the request of Mr. Krupp, visitation will be private, for family members only.

Memorials may be made to: Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 430 S. Main St., Clyde 43410; or The American Cancer Society, 1045 N. Main St., Bowling Green 43402.

The Harris Funeral Home, Bellevue, is in charge of the arrangements.

Willis E. Wagner
National Machinery retiree

Willis E. Wagner, 83, of 303 E. Seventh St., Sycamore, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in the Marion General Hospital.

Mr. Wagner was born Dec. 18, 1916, in Tiffin, to Glenn and Nellie F. (Martin) Wagner Hemminger. He married Hazele D. Young July 24, 1937, and she resides at Fairhaven Community.

Other survivors include: two sons, Willis C. Wagner of Whitepine, Tenn. and Mike S. Wagner of Urbana; two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Linda) McCarley of Sycamore and Mrs. Jon (Diane) Grosky of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Robert G. Wagner of Tiffin.

He graduated in 1934 from Akron East High School where he was class president; former part owner with his brother in Wag's Truck Stop, rural Tiffin, from 1945-1955; former owner of Wag's flea market/coffee shop in Sycamore; retired from National Machinery in 1979; a former Sycamore Village Councilman; and a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. David Griffis officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mohawk Community Library, Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department and EMS or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Robert A. Bertsch
Bellevue resident

Robert A. Bertsch, 82, of Moore Avenue, Bellevue, died Tuesday evening at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.

Arrangements are pending at Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Robert L. Marvin Sr.
Upper Sandusky resident's father

Robert L. Marvin, Sr., 75, of 7728 Lake Seminole Rd., Sneads, Fla. and formerly of Findlay, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at his son's residence in Findlay.

Mr. Marvin was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Findlay to Clarence W. and Elizabeth (Reed) Marvin. He married Elfrieda (Vickie) Wilhelm and they divorced. He then married Deloris (Martin) Cole and they divorced. He then married Reta Bushong Babcock Jan. 2, 1973, and she survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Robert L. Marvin, Jr., of Tampa, Fla., Turrini (Tony) W. Marvin of Colorado and Matthew G. Marvin of Cincinnati; two step-sons, Rex E. Babcock of Findlay, and Ned F. Babcock, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Elizabeth L.) Brown of Land of Lakes, Fla. and Mrs. Thomas (Loretta) "Lori" Paras of Upper Sandusky; nine grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were: a son, James L. Marvin; three brothers, Elsworth Marvin, James L. Marvin and A.D. "Mike" Marvin; and two sisters, Dorothy Winkle, and an infant sister.

He was a graduate of Findlay High School; served in World War II under General Patton; attended Church of God Upper Room; lifetime member of Disabled American Veteran Buddy Chapter No. 43; served eight years as scout leader for Troop #323; Heritage Trail founder; and former member of New Life Assembly.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, where military rites will be conducted by the Hancock Co. Veteran's Memorial Squad and the Rev. Terry McBeath officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mission Possible.

Robert E. Fey
Atlas Corp. retiree

Robert E. Fey, 78, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 26, 2000, at his home at 1934 TR 249, Arcadia.

He was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Tiffin, to Joseph and Emma (Fogle) Fey. On July 14, 1945, he married Miriam R. Snavely. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Bart C. Fey of Columbus; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Kerry) Ferguson of Ada, Mrs. John (Cinde) Reynolds of Wayne and Mrs. Jerry (Duana) Pierce of Findlay; and 11 grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were two half brothers, Herman and Walter Fey.

Mr. Fey, a member of the North Baltimore Lions Club, retired from the Atlas Corp.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he had been a prisoner of war in Germany.

The Rev. Claire Mortenson will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Friday service in the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Visitation is 1:30-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Drawer T-320, Nashville, TN 37244-0001.

Matthew E. Fagan Sr.
Findlay Whirlpool Corp. retiree

Matthew E. Fagan Sr., 63, of 7565 CR 45, Carey, died at his residence at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, following a long illness.

He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Findlay, to the late Matthew A. and Minta N. (Workman) Fagan. His wife, Patricia J. (Mullholand) Fagan, whom he married June 30, 1990, survives.

Survivors also include: four children, Matthew Jr. and Michael, both of Findlay, Mrs. Ron (Terry) Spradlin of Carey and Martin of Benton Ridge; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Marcus (Jane) Bell of Harrisburg, Pa.; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; three brothers, Vaynard E. of Fostoria and Virgil D. Sr. and Richard Max, both of Findlay; and two sisters, Mrs. Don (Collene) Radabaugh of Findlay and Mrs. Richard (Maxine) Billingsley of Williamstown.

He also was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and two sisters, Frieda Fagan and Doris Spence.

Mr. Fagan, who attended Community Bible Church in Williamstown, retired in 1995 from Whirlpool Corp. in Findlay, after 30 years of employment.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Bob Wood officiating. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery, McCutchenville.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County, in care of the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, OH 43316-1169.

Robert A. Bertsch
Retired carpenter

Robert A. Bertsch, 82, of 225 Moore Ave., Bellevue, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, in the Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.

He was born Oct. 12, 1917, in rural Bellevue, to John and Loretta (Michales) Bertsch. On Oct. 11, 1947, in St. Mary's Church, Sandusky, he married Rita Good. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, David Bertsch of Dyer, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Elbert (Kathy) Bolen and Mrs. Bruce "Shorty" (Sue) Roth, both of Bellevue and Janet Welling of Elyria; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur and Walter Bertsch, both of Bellevue, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Seven brothers, Edward, Albert, Lee, George, Richard, Herman and an infant brother; and two sisters, Gertrude Ecos and Cordula Wise, also are deceased.

Mr. Bertsch, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in Africa, retired as a carpenter from E.J. Hosang Construction.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Eagles 490, where he served as past president; the VFW and Knights of Columbus.

The Rev. Robert Tuccherri will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Friday service in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Foos and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, where the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and Eagles services will be at 7.

Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception School, Bellevue Eagles Scholarship Fund or Erie-Huron-Ottawa Educational Services Center, Huron, Ohio.

Gary D. Eulett
Area resident's father

Gary D. Eulett, 50, died at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at his home at 206 Jump St., Bucyrus.

He was born Sept. 13, 1950, in Lewis County, Ky., to the late William E. and Phyllis I. (Bloomfield) Eulett. His wife, Nancy E. (Arnett) Eulett, whom he married Sept. 26, 1981, survives.

Other survivors include: four children, James E. Eulett of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Donnie (Vanessa) Schifer of Nevada, Mrs. Rodney (Tracey) Hunt of Bucyrus and Kori E. Eulett, at home; 10 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Roy (Brenda) Bilger of New Winchester, Mrs.John (Debbra) Miller of Benton and Mrs. Max (Pauletta) Denny of Bucyrus.

A brother also is deceased.

Mr. Eulett, who enjoyed flea markets, hunting and fishing, was employed as an assembler at Komatsu Dresser in Galion. He attended the Bucyrus Church of God.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Pat Eulett officiating. Interment will be in Benton cemetery, Crawford County.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Home Care Matters, Galion.

R. B. 'Mike' Abbott
Clyde resident

R. B. "Mike" Abbott, 83, of Orchard Grove, Clyde died Wednesday Sept. 27, 2000 at Memorial Hospital in Fremont. He was born March 20, 1917 to O. F. and Iva Jane (Huber) Abbott. On July 11, 1942 he married Rachel Crose, she died 9/22/94. His second marriage was to Norma Foreman on Dec. 6, 1997, and she survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Dr. Bruce Abbott of Bloomville Hills, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Behnke of Concord; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Abbott was a 1935 Clyde High School graduate and a 1941 Ohio State University graduate. A U.S. Marines Veteran serving in WW II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Abbott owned and operated the Abbott Hardware Store till 1964, then as a banker at Home Savings and Loan in Clyde. A member of First United Methodist Church; Clyde Exchange; American Legion; and V.F.W., all of Clyde; Ohio State University Alumni Association and Alumni Band, where he had been a member of the 1936 band which performed the first SCRIPT; Monticello Lodge 244 F & AM; and the Elks of Fremont.

The Rev. John Bailey and The Rev. Gerald Kalb will officiate the 3 p.m. Sunday funeral service at First United Methodist Church, Clyde. Burial will be at McPherson cemetery, in the Veteran's section, Clyde.

Visitation hours are from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home. Military Graveside services provided by the Clyde American Legion and V.F.W.

Memorials may be made to: Clyde American Legion, 847 West Maple St., Clyde, Ohio 43410 and/or First United Methodist Church, West Maple St., Clyde.

M. Gene Dariano
Retired aircraft electrician

M. Gene Dariano, 57 passed away Thursday, September 28, 2000 at the University of Utah Hospital in Syracuse, Utah.

He was born July 13, 1943, in Tiffin to Matthew J. and Cornelia Huntsman Dariano.

He married Norma G. Schneider in Elko, Nev., Feb. 18, 1967.

In 1998, he retired from Hill Air Force Base where he worked as an aircraft electrician and equipment specialist.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Mr. Dariano enjoyed his family, working in the yard, traveling and fishing.

He served in the U.S. Navy from October 1961 through February 1966.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Kevin (Cally) Dariano, West Haven, Utah; a daughter, Jolyn (Markus) Henle, Clinton, Utah; three granddaughters, and two grandsons.

Also surviving are his parents, Matthew and Cornelia Dariano, Tiffin; two sisters, Frances (Raymond) Gaietto, Tiffin; and Gayle Swenson, Beford, Texas; and many neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, father-in-law, and grandparents.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.

Friends and family may call at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road, 6-8 p.m. Sunday. A prayer service will be at 7.

Interment will be in Syracuse City cemetery.

Donations may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.
