Rosie L. Lynch

Rosie L. Lynch, 69, of 624 Woodward Ave., Fostoria, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1932 to Johnny and Ella Louise (West) Black. She married Archie Tatum, he preceded her in death, she then married James B. Lynch in 1974, and he survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a brother, Benjamin Thompson of Chicago; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Services begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at First Baptist Church Fostoria. Burial at Fountain cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 5-9 p.m. Monday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services in the church on Tuesday.

Albert J. Forster

Albert J. Forster, 86, of 935 W. Main St., Risingsun, died at 3:28 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, at Hospice of NW Ohio, Perrysburg.

He was born June 30, 1915, in Lorain to Joseph and Anna (Klingshirn) Forster. He married Hazel Laws in Bowling Green, and she died Sept. 19, 1984.

Survivors include: two sons, Edward of Van Buren and Dewayne of Fremont; three daughters, Marilyn Thompson of Findlay, Sr. Barbara Forster of Chicago, Ill. and Joanne Sautter, Weston; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert of Wakeman and Lloyd of Lorain; and a sister, Margaret Carman of Lorain.

A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Norman J. Wank, Sr.

Norman J. Wank, Sr., 87, resident of Good Shepherd Nursing Home and formerly of Twp. Rd. 84, Fostoria, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the nursing home.

He was born April 29, 1915, in Fostoria to Frank and Anna (Seebon) Wank. He married Florance L. Phillips April 5, 1948, in Fostoria; and she died May 6, 2000.

Survivors include: two daughters, Susan Greeno of Fostoria, and Deborah Johnson of Risingsun; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Catherine Shaver of Tiffin, and Loretta Hemminger of Alvada.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with burial in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John R. Martin

John R. Martin, 47, of Co. Hwy. 121, Upper Sandusky, died at 10 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, in the Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.

He was born to James Roy and Elizabeth (Reamsnyder) Martin July 28, 1954, in Upper Sandusky. He married Cecelia DeBolt April 10, 1980, in Upper Sandusky; and they were divorced.

Survivors include: his father of Upper Sandusky; a son, Justin R. of Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Angel R. of Upper Sandusky; a brother, James G. of Upper Sandusky; and a sister, Karla Werts of Attica.

His mother preceded him in death.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lucas Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 5- 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Leonard J. Schank, Sr

Leonard J. Schank, Sr, 85, of 11876 E. Reed TR 8, Republic, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at his residence.

He was born May 9, 1917, in Sherman Township., Huron County, to Amel John and Rose (Wise) Schank. He married Evelyn (Pflieger) Schank on Nov. 28, 1946, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Peru, Ohio. She survives in Republic.

Other survivors include: four sons, Delbert (Christine) Schank of Tiffin, Duane (Ann) Schank of Tiffin, Leonard (Jean) Schank, Jr of Attica, and Donald (Angela) Schank of Bellevue; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy (Gerald) Roth of Manheim, Pa., Mrs. Darlene (Steve) Hart of Van Wert, Carolyn Ruge of Toledo, Mrs. Marilyn (Edward) Moore of Shelby and Mrs. Denise (Philip) Gerber of Bellevue; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leon Schank of Attica, Ralph Schank of Tiffin and Arthur Schank of Tiffin; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Anthony Schank, Herbert Schank and Clarence Schank and two sisters, Loretta Dendinger and Martha Daniel.

Mr. Schank was a machinist for Tiffin Scenic Studios for 25 years, retiring in 1992. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He was a self-employed bulldozer operator for many years. Mr. Schank was a member of the Reed Assumption Catholic Church in Reed Township. He was a member of the Fremont VFW Post 2947 and the Tiffin Moose Lodge 846.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Reed Assumption Catholic Church in Reed, with the Rev. John M. Nagele officiating. Burial will be in Reed Assumption cemetery. Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Fremont V.F.W. Post 2947.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 West Tiffin St., Attica. Rosary service will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Reed Assumption Church, Community Hospice or Attica E.M.S.

Garrett William Bryant

Garrett William Bryant was stillborn at 11:36 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He is survived by his parents, Cory W. and Mistical R. (Nye) Bryant of 2722 CH 9, Sycamore.

Other survivors include: his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William M. Nye Sr. of Melmore and Mr. and Mrs. Ricky L. Bryant of Tiffin; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Foster of Tiffin, Bernice Nye of Fostoria and Mr. and Mrs. David (Lois) Snook of Morehead, Ky.

Then funeral will be private at the family residence.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are in care of Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Paul J. Keiffer

Paul J. Keiffer, 83, of 740 N. High St., Bascom, died 8:40 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, at his residence.

He was born March 5, 1919, in Alvada to the late Ira B. and Philomena (Wagner) Keiffer. He married Frances U. Ritzler, and they are divorced.

Survivors include: three sons, Michael P. Keiffer of Texas, Anthony W. Keiffer of Fostoria and Raymond A. Keiffer of Burgoon; seven daughters, Mrs. Paula (Jim) Walters of New York, Mrs. Margaret (Ed) Schwab of Findlay, Mrs. Ann (Dave) Scherger of Fostoria, Alice Fletcher of Carey, Lindsay Drake of Fostoria, Mrs. Kathy (Robert) Santos of Fostoria and Mrs. Connie (Dave) Myers of Bascom; 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, Rita Cavanaugh of Findlay.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Clarence, and Earl Keiffer and a sister, Alma Theis.

Mr. Keiffer retired in 1982 from Union Carbide in Fostoria. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the New Riegel American Legion Post 354.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Seneca Memory Gardens in Tiffin with the Rev. Jon Bravinder officiating. The New Riegel American Legion will conduct military honors at the ceremony.

Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice in Findlay.

Arrangements are being handled by Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Victor B. Niese

Victor B. Niese, 72, of Leipsic, died 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 14, 1930 in Leipsic to Edward and Frances (Schroeder) Niese. He married Monica Miller on Aug. 1, 1951. She died Nov. 18, 1994. He then married Sylvia Schroeder on Sept. 23, 1995. She survives in Leipsic.

Other survivors include: seven sons, John Niese of Miller City, Anthony Niese of Tuscon, Ariz., Fr. Larry Niese of Lagrange, Ga., Edward Niese of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Ronald Niese, Thomas Niese and Rickey Niese, all of Leipsic; five daughters, Rosemary Schroeder of Glandorf, Vicki Brickner of Glandorf, Norma Brickner of Ottawa, Donna Scott of Ottawa and Mary Schumaker of Kalida; four step-sons, Karl Schroeder of Chandler, Ariz., Kenneth Schroeder of Gilbert, Ariz., Dale Schroeder of Tiffin; five step-daughters, Janice Schroeder of Leipsic, Charlene Franz of Carey, Mary Ann Berg of Deshler, Marilyn Siefker of Ottawa and Jane Berg of Lima; 41 grandchildren, 22 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Niese of Leipsic, Frank Niese of Ottawa and William Niese of Leipsic; three sisters, Marilyn Roebke of Columbus Grove, Martha Turnwald of Kalida and Pat Fuerst of Glandorf.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leipsic. Burial will be in Holy Family cemetery in New Cleveland.

Carol Ruth Eynon

Carol Ruth Eynon, 67, of 484 Linwood Ave., Fostoria, died 12:40 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.

She was born Sept. 27, 1934 in Wood Co. to J. Wayne and Luella (Morelock) DeWese. She married William Kirk Eynon on June 14, 1957, at St. Rose Parish in Perrysburg. He survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: his mother, Luella DeWese of Pemberville, three sons, Kirk W. Eynon of Bowling Green, Eric J. Eynon of Perrysburg and Michael G. "Pickle" Eynon of Findlay; three daughters, Tamara Sue Pelequin of Charleston, R.I., Meg E. Rossilli of Findlay and Jennifer J. Schreiner of Fostoria; nine grandchildren; a brother, Douglas DeWese of Bowling Green and two sisters, Marilyn Hartman of Pemberville and Judy Teller of N.C.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where the Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, where Christian Wake will be at 8:30 p.m.

Helen V. Eblin

Helen V. Eblin, 75, died at 8:55 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2002, in the Ruffing Family Care Center of Tiffin, where she resided.

She was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Gallipolis, Ohio, to the late James A. and Grace (Nibert) Burnette. Her husband, William K. Eblin, survives in Huntington, W.Va.

Other survivors include: five children, Keith Eblin of Columbus, Charlie and Carl Eblin, both of West Virginia, Linda Clagg of Gallipolis and Barbara Bauman of Tiffin; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Burnette and Johnny Burnette, both of North Carolina; and four sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Gloria) Harrison, Mrs. Francis Harrison and Mrs. Robert (Diane) McHenry, all of North Carolina and Mrs. Betty Golden of California.

Two sons, Donald and Tim Eblin; and a brother Jesse Burnette, also are deceased.

Mrs. Eblin, a resident of the Tiffin area for a year, formerly of Gallipolis, was a homemaker.

All services will be in Gallipolis.

The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

M. Esther Miller

In Loving Memory of M. Esther Miller, 86, of 1000 Independence Rd., Fostoria, died 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Upper Sandusky.

She was born Aug. 26, 1915, in New Riegel to the Late Charles H. and Veronica (Welly) Kelbley. She married Orville S. Miller on Aug. 8, 1933 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. He died on Feb. 3, 1972.

Survivors include; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine M. (Robert) Hunt of Tiffin; two sons, Donald P. Miller and David A. Miller, both of Fostoria; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great, great-granddaughter; a sister, Mildred Hammer of Fostoria.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Lucille Knox and a brother, Truman Kelbley.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and had retired from Fusse Corp. in Fostoria. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Rosary-Altar Society and the Fostoria Woman's Club.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. A Christian Wake will be 8:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and a Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Church and Schools or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Kathryn M. Thomas

Kathryn M. Thomas, 83, of Bucyrus, died 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus.

She was born Dec. 31, 1918 in New Washington to George and Catherine (Schiska) Nedolast.

Survivors include: a sister, Rose Nedolast and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Gary, George, Cornelius and Paul Nedolast; three sisters, Helen Krebs, Martha Pifher and Anna Kaple.

She had no children, but actively participated in raising many children. Mrs. Thomas moved from Tiffin to Bucyrus in 1963 where she worked as a housekeeper for Fr. Downey at Holy Trinity. She attended St. Bernard's School and graduated from New Washington High School. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and enjoyed helping others, gardening, cooking and bingo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Fr. James Steinle as Presider, Fr. Timothy Downey and Fr. Ronald LeJeune as Concelebrants. Burial will be at St. Bernard cemetery in New Washington.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Endowment Fund in care of the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus.

Fr. Albert Zimmerman

Father Albert Zimmerman, 83, of Hammond, Ind., died Friday, May 24, 2002, in Hammond, following an extended illness.

He was born to Albert and Margaret (Frye) Zimmerman on Oct. 15, 1918, in Racine, Wis.

Surviving are one sister, Sister Margaret Ann, O.S.F. of Joliet, Ill.; one brother, James Zimmerman of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.

Father Zimmerman was preceded in death by his sister, Jane and brother, Father Thomas Zimmerman C.S.C.

Father Zimmerman was ordained in 1945, and served his priesthood for 56 years in the Gary, Ind. Diocese.

Funeral services will be at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Hammond, Ind.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery, Tiffin..

Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Foreign Missions, in care of Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Eugene E. McCoy

Eugene E. McCoy, 77, of Severna Park, Md., died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Heartlands at Severna Park in Severna Park.

He was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Tiffin. He married Jeanne Morrow in July 1952.

Survivors include: his wife Jeanne McCoy of Severna Park, Md., a brother, Robert T. McCoy of Ashland, Ky. and a sister, Nancy Wright of Denver, Colo.

Funeral will be private. Burial will also be private.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Barranco and Sons Funeral Home in Severna Park, Md.

Charles 'Chuck' Filliater

Charles "Chuck" Filliater, 45, of North Union St., Fostoria, died 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at his home.

He was born March 9, 1957, in Fostoria to Francis and Phyllis (Benson) Filliater. He married Bobbie Pingle on Oct. 4, 1986 in Fostoria. They were divorced.

Survivors include: his father, Francis "Norm" Filliater; a son, Cody Filliater at home; a daughter, Abbie Filliater at home, a fiancee. Alane Bossler: two brothers, Edward and Norb Filliater, all of Fostoria; three sisters, Fran Wagner of Bradenton, Fla., Linda Schlievert of Findlay and Dawn Decker of Fostoria.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Florianna Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
