Edwin J. Beer, 88 of Mansfield died unexpectedly November 17, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield. Mr. Beer was born November 2, 1912 in Mansfield being a life long resident. He retired from General Motors in 1978 after twenty years of service. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Illinois Avenue.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma M. (Shaffer) Beer of Mansfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Edward Stevenson of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Barbara and Tom Hone of Chaska, Minnesota; and Wendi and John Beck of Gahanna, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Joyce Beer of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Ben Beer of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Josephine Beer; his brothers, Frank, Robert and Dave Beer; and sisters, Francelia, Hermine and Alma.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Sunday November 19, 2000 from 1-4 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. conducted by the Apostolic Christian Church at 84 N. Illinois Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio. Burial will be in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church.

Jackie Ly nn (Taylor) Gonzalez
August 23, 1957 - December 17, 2000
Jackie Lynn (Taylor) Gonzalez, 43, died Sunday, December 17, 2000 at Cleveland Metro Hospital from injuries she received in an automobile accident. She was born August 23, 1957 to Charles Richard Sr. & Peggy A. (Basting) Taylor in Crestline, Ohio. Mrs. Gonzalez was employed at Patent Analytical Systems. She liked reading the Bible and enjoyed helping people, her smiling face will always be remembered. Jackie has gone home to be with the Lord.
She is survived by her mother, Peggy A. Taylor of Mansfield; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Celene A. & Dwight L. Wallen of Mansfield; Regina & Anthony Baumgartner of Osian, Indiana and Lisa R. Gardner of Galion, OH; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles R. & Deni Taylor, Ricky Lee & Rosie Taylor and James R. & Christine Taylor all of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; a special friend, Norman Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose A. Gonzalez who died in the same auto accident; her father, Charles Taylor Sr.; maternal grandparents, Joseph F. & Celene C. Basting; paternal grandparents, Pearle E. & Maxine Taylor.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday, December 21, 2000 from 7-8 p.m. with services following at 8:00 p.m.on Thursday, December 21, 2000, conducted by Rev. Rick Basting. Private family burial will be held at Mansfield cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Harry M. Baker Jr.
December 17, 1937 - January 08, 2001
Harry M. Baker Jr. age 63 of 1428 Hiner Ave. died Monday January 8, 2001 at Cleveland Veterans Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Baker was born December 17, 1937 in Mansfield being a life long resident. He sold real estate in Mansfield and Ashland since 1972 and also retired from Artesian Industries. Mr. Baker was a member of Ashland Christian Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Harry owned and operated Baker Construction, as well as, managed Stadium Town Villas in Ashland, Ohio for 20 years. He was a member of the Mansfield and Ashland Board of Realtors
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, L. Jane Weaver Baker; two sons, Pete A. and Bryon E. Baker both of Mansfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jeff Schad of Ashland, Ohio; one granddaughter, Aubrey Baker; one grandson, Jeffrey Schad; one great-grandson, Luke West; two step brothers, Robert and Richard Aumend both of Norwalk, Ohio; and one step sister, Ruth Aumend of Norwalk, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry M. and Catherine Baker; and his step father, Guy Aumend.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday January 11, 2001 from 3-5 and 6-9 p.m.. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Lee Thomas of Ashland Christian Center. Military graveside services will be held in Mansfield cemetery.

Pauline Mary Elizabeth Berno
August 09, 1909 - February 04, 2001
Pauline Mary Elizabeth Berno, 91, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at Ranchwood Place after a lengthy illness. She was born August 9, 1909 in Findlay, Ohio to Harry & Laura (Enich) Stearns. Mrs. Berno owned the Stuhldreher Floral with her husband, Russell L. Berno for many years. She attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She will be remembered by all who knew her, as well as all the customers she & her husband enjoyed helping through the years.
She is survived by a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret & Nicholas Colangelo of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Berno whom she lost in 1996; her parents, Harry & Laura Stearns; a brother, Harry Stearns and her sister, Rose Flesher.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday, February 8, 2001 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Services will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Mansfield Catholic cemetery next to her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to the Msgr. Edward C. Dunn Foundation for Education in her memory.

Mary Irene Bell
July 20, 1928 - February 13, 2001
Mary Irene Davis Bell, 72, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Mansfield Memorial Homes after an extended illness. Mrs. Bell was born July 20, 1928 in West Liberty, Kentucky. She was employed with F. W. Woolworth for many years and more recently was a motor route carrier of the Mansfield News Journal. Mrs. Bell loved to garden and care for her plants. Staying active was very important to her.
She is survived by a sister, Anna Severance of Wadsworth, Ohio; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Eddie May, Jr. & Jorene Davis of West Liberty, Kentucky and Carl Davis of Dunmor, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie May, Sr. & Elizabeth Katherine Wells Davis; and her husband, Richard J. Bell.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 2-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 19, 200l at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Brian Phillips. Burial will be at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Raymond W. "Ray" Bauer
March 20, 1922 - February 17, 2001
Raymond "Ray" W. Bauer, age 78, formerly of Mansfield died Saturday February 17, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach, Florida. Mr. Bauer was born March 20, 1922 in Mansfield residing in the area most of his life before moving to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1987. He graduated from Mansfield High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II as a Pharmacist Mate First Class. Mr. Bauer retired from General Foods as a Sales Representative after 28 years of service. He was a member of Tomoka Christian Church, Venus Masonic Lodge #152 F & AM, and Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ray enjoyed Nascar Racing and he and Gladys owned several antique cars including a 1928 Plymouth.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Gladys Marie (Kerr) Bauer; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cindy Bauer of Indianapolis, Indiana; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Heston of Hilton Head, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Adam, Bethany and Anne Bauer and Karen and Colin Heston; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, William W. and Martha E. Bauer.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday February 22, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 23, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Paul Haney. Military graveside services will be held in Mansfield cemetery.

Esther A. Beasley
November 21, 1914 - March 06, 2001
Esther A. Beasley, 86, of 710 Ashland Road died Tuesday afternoon, March 6, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Beasley was born November 21, 1914 on Springton Mountain, West Virginia. She retired from Essex Wire Company in Lexington and was employed several years at Alta Greenhouse. Mrs. Beasley was a very active and dedicated Christian who enjoyed working for her Lord. She was a life member of Flame Fellowship and Church Mother for Cowboy Fellowship Church. Esther did not die but joined her Lord in paradise forever.
She is survived by a son Phillip Beasley, and his wife Jane, whom she considered a very special daughter-in-law and friend, of Mansfield; four grandsons, Lester Beasley, and his wife Jackie, Randy Beasley, Steve Beasley, and his wife Milly, and Dan Beasley; two special granddaughters, Melissa Harmon and Jennifer Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Kris, and his fiancé, Janelle, John, Sarah, Sheena, Jessica, Zachary, Elijah, and Travis Beasley; a great great-granddaughter, Abbygail Grace Beasley of Porter, Texas; three brothers, Vessie Shrewsbury of Princeton, West Virginia; Melvin Shrewsbury of Tony, Alabama, and Roby Shrewsbury of Springton Mountain, West Virginia; three sisters, Lillie Laxton of Lashmeet, West Virginia, Rachel Duncan of Matoka, West Virginia, and Bernice Shrewsbury of Springton Mountain, West Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend and prayer partner, Helen Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitfield & Vercie Akers Shewsbury; her husband, Roy T. Beasley; a brother, Jessie Shrewsbury; and a sister, China Clark.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 5-9 p.m. The going home celebration will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted Rev. Helen Carpenter. Burial will be at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Center.

Stacey Bell
June 25, 1966 - April 09, 2001
Stacey Bell, age 34, of 1074 Woodhill Road, died unexpectedly Monday evening at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital. Stacey was born June 25, 1966 in Mansfield, Ohio living here most of her life. She was a 1984 graduate of Madison High School. Stacey was a very caring and generous person.
Surviving are a brother, David Bell of Mansfield; four aunts and their spouses, Carol & Ron Isgro of Berea, Ohio, Helen & Terry Spence of Tucson, Arizona Peggy & Tom Dille of Butler, Ohio, Diane & Tom Bell of Galion and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, John Edward Bell and her parents, David & Barbara (Klapproth) Bell.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from two hours prior to the funeral service, which will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m., conducted by Pastor Tim Storms. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Marvin V. Ayers Jr.
October 06, 1942 - April 21, 2001
Marvin V. Ayers, Jr., age 58, of Mansfield, died Saturday, April 21, 2001 after a sudden illness. He was born October 6, 1942 in Biloxi, Mississippi to the late Marvin V. Sr. and Christine Armstrong Ayers. Mr. Ayers was raised in Cincinnati where he graduated from Madeira High School and attended one year at Ohio University. He was the Collections Manager at Auto Workers Credit Union. He was a member of 1st English Lutheran Church, past Commander of the Marine League of Richland County, President of Mansfield Memorial and Patriotic Association, Past Commander of Joint Veterans Council of Richland County and he served on the Advisory Board for the Mansfield Memorial Museum and the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building Board of Trustees. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving from 1963 to 1969.
Surviving are his wife, Wendi Ayers of Mansfield; two sons, Matthew and Ryan Ayers, still at home; one sister and brother-in-law, Dona & Roscoe Brock of Madeira, OH; two brothers, James Ayers of Bangkok, Thailand and Ralph Ayers of Roy, Utah; nieces and nephews, Beth & Patrick, David & Tim, all of Cincinnati, Samantha of Bangkok, Christina of Roy, Utah, and Jay & Jon of Cincinnati; and his father and mother-in-law, Jacob & Hilda Gaubatz of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Patricia Moxey.
A memorial service will be held at the 1st English Lutheran Church on Friday, April 27, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Paul Larson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family. Wappner Funeral Directors are handling local arrangements.

Rachel Elizabeth Allen
March 05, 1974 - June 08, 2001
Rachel Elizabeth Allen, 27, of Columbus, OH, died Friday, June 8, 2001, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was the eldest child of Suzanne Allen and Curtis Allen; born March 5, 1974 in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated with honors from Madison Comprehensive High School and Bowling Green State University. She worked for the Domestic Violence Shelter in Mansfield until her move to Columbus where she was employed by Columbus State Community College.
Rachel is survived by her parents, both of Mansfield, OH; her sister Rebecca of Kyoto, Japan; her two brothers, Mark of Bowling Green, OH, and Luke of Mansfield; her grandmothers, Marjorie Simon of St. Louis MO, and Willena Allen of Silver Springs, MD; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, William J. Simon and Richard L. Allen.
Rachel was a passionate, outspoken individual who always colored outside of the lines. She was loved by many, tolerated by some, ignored by few. We will gather for an informal celebration of Rachel’s life on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at 7:00 p.m., at Grace Fellowship Church, 365 Straub Road East, Mansfield, OH. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the charity of your choice.
