Loretta A. Buchs
(1934 - 2007)

EDGERTON - Loretta A. Buchs, 72, of Edgerton, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, following an illness of four months. Born Oct. 29, 1934, at Bryan, to Ruth (Long) and Earl Friedel, she was raised by her grandmother, Charlotta Long, after the death of her mother when she was five years old. She married Donald D. Buchs on June 20, 1951, at Angola, Ind., and he survives.
A retail sales clerk with the Edgerton Pharmacy, she retired in 1993 with 22 years of service. She was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Judy (and husband, Lewis) Hendricks of Montpelier and Tammy Buchs of Edgerton; two sons, Alonzo (and wife, Mary) Buchs of Bryan and Curtis (Lois) Buchs of Montpelier; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Pierce of Warsaw, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Chasity Carpenter.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Gleason to officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove cemetery, Edgerton.
Memorials may be made to the Williams County Humane Society, Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Hospice Care or the Edgerton United Methodist Church.

Lorabel Apger
(1934 - 2007)

ARCHBOLD - Lorabel Apger, 72, of Archbold, died Saturday evening, June 30, 2007, at the Archbold Hospital, where she was admitted Thursday.
Born Oct. 4, 1934, at Weston, to Clara (Marsh) and Jay Tolles, she married Robert Apger Sr. on Sept. 18, 1954, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1992.
A resident of the Swanton area until moving to Archbold in 1969, she had worked at ITT Higbie in Archbold for 34 years before retiring in 2000.
She was a member of the Central Mennonite Church near Archbold and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving are six children, Robert Apger Jr. of Archbold, Deborah (and husband, Burnie) Potter of Cheboygan, Mich., Teresa (Patrick) Wyse of Archbold, Pat (Brad) Gilbert of Lyons, David (Cindy) Apger of Bradner and Lori Lane of Napoleon; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers; and five sisters.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Douglas Apger; a brother; and a sister.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Central Mennonite Church with Pastors Jeffrey Smith and Bill Holsopple to officiate. Interment will follow in the Archbold cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Archbold Hospital, Archbold EMS or the Central Church Building Fund.

Opal V. Kimberly
(Died April 20, 2015)

Opal V. Kimberly, age 93, of Evansport, passed away in her home on Monday, April 20, 2015. She had been a housewife and in the 1950’s she worked at the former Eddie’s Glass Bar in Stryker, where she met her husband, John. She also helped John on the family farm.
Opal was born in Blakeslee, Ohio on October 2, 1921, the daughter of Owen V. and Adeline (Schaull) Miller. In 1959 she married John W. Kimberly, and he preceded her in death in 2001. She loved sitting outdoors, dogs and cats, and sitting in front of the woodstove in the winter months.
In 1939 Opal gave birth to her son, John F. Shannon, and he preceded her in death in 2013. In 1960 she gave birth to her son William Ward (Karen) Kimberly, and he survives. Also surviving is grandson, Ken P. Shannon; great-grandson, Joe Hiler; three great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Owen Victor Jr. Miller. Other survivors include her step-grandchildren; Kevin Schlachter, Casey (Dave) Leonard, Kyle (Tasha) Schlachter; and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, John F. Shannon; and three brothers, Claude, Victor and Earnie Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Evansport cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Williams County Humane Society.

Elizabeth "Betty" Ries
(1910 - 2007)

WAUSEON - Elizabeth "Betty" Ries, 97, of Wauseon died Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Fulton Manor Nursing Home in Wauseon.
Born May 9, 1910 in Denhof, Russia to Elizabeth (Stoll) and Phillipp Hess, she was married to Kenneth Ries on November 7, 1942, and he preceded her in death in 1972.
A Volga German, she immigrated to the United States with her parents, having come through Ellis Island, New York.
Prior to her retirement, she had co - owned and operated the former E&E Beauty Salon in Wauseon. She also worked in the Elm Street Elementary School cafeteria and the Wauseon High School cafeteria for many years.
Surviving are: two brothers, Jake Hess of Wauseon and Paul (Phyllis) Hess of Greenville, S.C.; sister Lucille Roth of Wauseon; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, daughter Lynn Thorpe, and infant daughter Helen Ries.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., in Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon with the Rev. Charles Althoff officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union cemetery. Friends may call at the Edgar - Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon form 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday and at Emmaus Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to either the Emmaus Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made to the family at .

Lyman A. Powers
(Died April 18, 2015)

Lyman Alfred Powers, age 91 of Wauseon, Ohio passed away April 18, 2015 surrounded by his loving family in the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. Born in 1924, Lyman is survived by his devoted wife Martha (Holman) Powers; loving children Kathleen (Fred) Burkhart of East Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mark (Janet) Powers of Wauseon, Ohio; and Dan (Julie) Powers of Bellbrook, Ohio; his beloved grandchildren Sarah and Jacob Powers, Andrew and Eric Burkhart, and Mitchell and Shelby Powers; and cherished great-grandchild Christian Powers as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Zelma (Bachman) Powers and his siblings Lowell, Lynn and Lyle Powers, Maxine Hartman, Clark Powers, Mary Ann Leffingwell and Betty Lou Funk.
Born and raised in Morenci, Michigan, Lyman was a 1942 graduate of Morenci High School and went on to join the Army Air Corps during WWII. Lyman was stationed on the island of Tinian in the Pacific Theater where he was a radio technician for the B - 29 bombers as he proudly served his country in the 505th Bomb Group. He was a sergeant in the 483rd Squadron of the 313th Bomb Wing in the 20th Army Air Force. After his time in the service, Lyman worked as an electrician out of Adrian, Michigan and on July 12, 1947 he married the love of his life, Martha and they made their home in Oakshade, Ohio before moving to Wauseon. In addition to his membership in the American Legion Post 265, Lyman was an active member and Elder Emeritus at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Wauseon where services will be held.
Memorial gifts may be made either to the First Christian Church or to Community Health Professionals Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Visitors may call on the family Saturday, April 25th beginning at 1pm with Celebration of Life service at 3pm and meal to follow all at the First Christian Church, 129 E. Elm St., Wauseon, Ohio.The Edgar - Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.

Cinda S. Meyer
(Died April 19, 2015)

Cinda S. Meyer, age 72, of Wauseon, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, in her home.
Cinda was born in Lightsville, Ohio on September 28, 1942, the daughter of Lloyd and Elidine (Oswald) Winterrowd. On June 1, 1963 she married Paul E. Meyer, and he survives. Also surviving is their son, Randy (Natalie) Meyer, four grandchildren, Courtney Meyer, Alexis Meyer, Hayley Meyer and Chloe Crooks. Also surviving is her son - in - law, Brian Crooks. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Crooks on July 5, 2014, grandson, Ethan Crooks, and both parents.
Graveside funeral services will be held at the family’s convenience. There will be no visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Fulton County Relay for Life. Edgar - Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.

Helen M. Wright
(1917 - 2007)

EDGERTON - Helen M. Wright, 89, formerly of Summerfield, Fla., died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at her daughter's home in rural Edgerton.
Born Aug. 24, 1917, in Monroe County, Mich., to Mary Rose (Dlabal) and John Edward Todd, she married Herbert Wright on June 1, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1996.
A 1935 graduate of Lyons High School in Michigan, she was a homemaker and co - owner of various family businesses.
She was very active in church activities.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah (and husband, Jack) Thatcher Payton of Edgerton; two sons, Robert (and wife, Carol) of Lafayette, Ind., and James (Marilyn) of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, a great-grandson, two brothers and a stepsister.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Lost Creek cemetery, rural Hicksville.

George E. Juillard
(1938 - 2007)

GLOBE, Ariz. - George E. Juillard, 69, of Globe, died May 23, 2007, at his home. Born May 4, 1938, at Stryker, Ohio, he was the son of Thelma and Harold Juillard.
A 1956 graduate of Stryker High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after graduation and served his country for 20 years. His tours of duty took him to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Alaska. He was a member of First Christian Church of Globe.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane (and husband, William) Young of Show Low, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Rebecca Young and William Young Jr.; two brothers, James Juillard of Santa Fe, N.M. and Thomas (and wife, Julie) Juillard of Lake Seneca, Ohio; and three sisters, Lonnie (Fred) Memmer of Fremont, Ohio, Jane (Ken) Guillem of Snellville, Ga., Kay (Neal) Strickland of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Susan Juillard of La Mesa, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Lydia Juillard.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Stryker.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Daniel Douglass to officiate. Private interment will be in Oakwood cemetery, Stryker. Arrangements are by the Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Donald James Zimmerman
(1941 - 2007)

LIMA - Donald James Zimmerman, 65, of Lima, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at his residence.
Born Oct. 6, 1941, at Lima, to Madeline (Casey) and Karl Zimmerman, he married Viola Patrick on Oct. 7, 1958 and she preceded him in death May 11, 1999. He later married Brenda Sue Raines and she survives in Lima.
Retired as a cleaner from Ford Motor Company with 35 years of service, he had previously worked at Nickles Bakery with 16 years of service.
He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 199 and Eagles Lodge No. 370.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Johnnie (and wife, Carla) Zimmerman of Lima; daughters, Donna (and husband, Leroy) Byrne and Leona Zimmerman, both of Lima, and Christina Barraco of Bryan; stepson, Willy Sponsler of Lima; two stepdaughters, Tammy and Nicole; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford (Amy) Zimmerman of Lima and Karl (Janet) Zimmerman of Ada; and two sisters, Betty Shimp of Lima and Lily (Jack) Weyer of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Louise Zimmerman; a great-granddaughter, Sister Mary Johns; and brother - in - law, Bob Shimp.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 - 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. in the Chiles - Laman Shawnee Chapel.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Brock to officiate. Interment will be at Memorial Park cemetery, Lima.
Memorials may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.

Dorothy Jean Garrett
(1934 - 2007)

TOLEDO - Dorothy Jean Garrett, age 73, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Inpatient Unit, Toledo. She was born April 9, 1934, to Clyde and Ocie (Coop) Keith in Glasgow, Ky. Dorothy was formerly a longtime resident of Montpelier. She enjoyed crocheting and baking cookies for her grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Earl) Cooper - Grant; sons, Mike (Kris); Tony (Caroline) and Andy (Cindy) Carver; grandchildren, Logan, Trista, Tia, Todd, Tara, Cortney, Trina, Chris, Ryan, Brittany, Jeremy, Tajuana and Tamika; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta (Herbert) Fox; Juanita (Charles) Davis and Betty Green, all of Kentucky; special daughter - in - law, Teresa Underwood; and faithful companion, "Princess."
Dorothy's family would also like to thank the Home Healthcare and Inpatient staffs of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the loving care and support that they provided.
There will be no viewing, but a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Marjorie Lucille Hoover Smith
(1923 - 2006)

COLUMBUS - Graveside services with burial of ashes for Marion and Marjorie Smith will be Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 11 a.m., at the Floral Grove cemetery, West Unity. Marion was born June 3, 1923 and died Oct. 5, 2004, at Columbus. Marjorie was born March 17, 1923 and died May 28, 2006, at Columbus.
Both were formerly of West Unity and were 1941 graduates of West Unity High School. They moved to Columbus in 1948.
They are survived by three daughters, Mrs. Max (Kristine) Fout of Plain City, Patricia Smith (and Scott Brooks) of Lewis Center, and Mrs. Daniel (Kathryn) Donnell of Columbus; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding them in death were their parents, Blanche and Frank Smith and Golda and Frank Hoover; a son, David Allen Smith; a brother, James Smith; and a sister, Mary Boyer.
Hollingshead - Beck Funeral Home of West Unity is in charge of arrangements.
