Helen A. Wheeler

(1911 - 2005)

Helen A. Wheeler, 94, of Bryan, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan, where she had been a resident.
Born July 12, 1911, in Pulaski, to Effie E. (Peyton) and Herbert C. Salsbury, she married Darwin F. Wheeler and he preceded her in death in 1989.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Farrell Wheeler and James Wheeler, both of Bryan; two sisters, Wanda W. Lougheed of Medina and Jean J. Ely of Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gale Salsbury and Cleland Salsbury.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Burr Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the CHWC Home Health Service or the Faith United Methodist Church.

Irma May Hurtig

SHERWOOD - Irma May Hurtig, 88, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2005, at her son's home in Cecil.
Arrangements are pending with the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory-Sherwood.

Herma M. Rychener

(1913 - 2005)

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Herma M. Rychener, 92, of Smyrna, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn., after a lengthy illness. Born July 24, 1913, in Archbold, to Annie (Schrock) and Daniel Sauder, she married Edwin J. Rychener on July 23, 1935, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1984.
A resident of the Archbold area until moving to Tennessee in the late 1960s, she was a homemaker and a member of the Stones River Baptist Church at Smyrna.
Surviving are a son, Charles (and wife, Janet) Rychener of Poulsbo, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Marlin (Marlene) Shetler of Davidsville, Pa. and Mrs. Ron (Joyce) Tassey of Mobile, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Charlotte Faye; a brother, Erie J. Sauder; and a sister, Lucretia Rupp.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-9 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Pettisville Cemetery with Pastor Dale Wyse to officiate.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Carlton D. Johnston

(1908 - 2005)

Carlton D. "Jack" Johnston, 97, of rural Bryan, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at the Inn at Fountain Park, Bryan, where he had been a resident since October 2004.
Born Jan. 26, 1908, at Champaign, Ill., to Lena (Hanks) and Robert C. Johnston, he married V. Hope Farnham on Feb. 25, 1929, in Bryan, and she survives.
A graduate of Edgerton High School, he had a milk truck business before purchasing the Pulaski General Store from Frank Mallory in 1938. In 1946, a frozen food locker plant was added where meat was processed. He operated the business until his retirement in 1972. Following his retirement, he delivered meals from Bryan High School to the elementary schools.
He was a member of the Pulaski United Methodist Church where he served faithfully on the Board of Trustees for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. LaVon (Barbara) Eschhofen of Bryan and Mrs. Don (Mary) Hovis of Benson, Ariz.; a son, Carl W. (and wife, Chris) Johnston of Mission Viejo, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delle Knisely of Sherwood. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alta Mae Swineheart; and two brothers, Linn and Cecil Johnston.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Pulaski United Methodist Church, 06950 Ohio 127, Bryan, with Pastors Debbie Kaylor and Gerald Mallott to officiate.
Graveside committal services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Memorials may be made to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Hospice Care or the Pulaski United Methodist Church.

Eleanor V. (Hoops) Boyd

(1921 - 2005)

MONTPELIER - Eleanor V. Boyd, 83, of Montpelier, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
Born Dec. 25, 1921, in Kunkle, to Blanche B. (Hayes) and Charles A. Hoops, she married Leonard D. Boyd and he preceded her in death in November 1999.
Formerly employed at Hurdlock Manufacturing in Adrian, Mich. for 18 years as an inspector and time checker, she later retired in 1974 from Robinair Manufacturing in Montpelier.
She attended the Montpelier Church of Christ and was a member of the Williams County Senior Center.
Surviving are a son, Walter Lee Boyd of Montpelier; a grandson; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gerald R. Hoops.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Loren.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, with Pastor Jim Willhoit to officiate. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Williams County Diabetes Association or Parkinson's Disease. Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Theodore N. "Ted" Hanna

(1978 - 2005)

ARCHBOLD - Theodore N. "Ted" Hanna, 26, of Archbold, died suddenly Thursday evening, Aug. 4, 2005, in his residence.
Born Nov. 18, 1978, in Paulding, he was the son of Betsy (Cooper) and Aaron Hanna. He was a 1997 graduate of Pettisville High School and was a lifetime northwest Ohio resident. He had worked at Skates Construction in Wauseon for about four years.
Surviving is the mother of his children, Alicia Garcia; a son, Alexander Hanna and two daughters, Tori Hanna and Jessica Hanna, all at home; his mother, Betsy Hanna of Bryan; his father, Aaron Hanna of Ney; a brother, Jacob Hanna of Wauseon; two sisters, Mrs. Sone (Amanda) Contalee of Bryan and Mrs. Alex (Sarah) Buchhop of Defiance; nieces and nephews; paternal grandmother, Nancy Hanna of Ney; and paternal great-grandmother, Willa Hanna of Defiance.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home in Archbold.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Wilmot of the Edgerton Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan. Memorials may be made to his children.
