Ruth V. Miller
Died: Thursday, November 20, 2003
Age: 95

Ruth V. Miller, 95, of Van Wert died at 2:41 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home, Van Wert.

She was born Feb. 10, 1908, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late David and Ethel (Allen) Miller.

Survivors include two sisters, Marcile Dunlap and Pauline (Frank) McGannon, both of Van Wert, and several nieces and nephews.

Miss Miller retired in 1978 after 40 years as a graduate registered nurse. When she retired she was working for the Ohio Dept. of Health. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert. A graduate of Ohio State University School of Nursing, she was a member of OSU Torch Club, the National Nursing Society Sigma Theta Tau and American Business Women’s Association. She was a former member of the American Nursing Association.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Preferred memorial is First United Methodist Church, Van Wert.

Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert.

Laveda B. Baucher
Died: Wednesday, November 19, 2003
Age: 95

CELINA — Laveda B. Baucher, 95, of Celina died at 9:58 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at The Gardens at Celina.

She was born Jan. 13, 1908, in Hopewell Township, Mercer County, the daughter of the late John and Nettie (Smith) Now. On Nov. 7, 1929, she married Arlie Baucher, who preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1968.

Survivors include:

Daughters — Marjorie Canary and Doris (Gail) Grunden, both of Celina, Beatrice (Robert) Linn of Rockford and Lois (Howard) Snyder of Perrysburg

Sisters — Margaret Weitz of Xenia and Loretta Fast and Mabel Koontz, both of Celina

Twelve grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Now; one sister, Beulah Bradford; a son-in-law, Darlene Canary, and one granddaughter, Cynthia Canary.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Carmel Church of God in Celina, the Rev. Mark Wakeland officiating. Burial will be in Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour prior to church service Saturday at the church.

Helen W. Schrimshaw
Died: Wednesday, November 19, 2003
Age: 88

PAYNE — Helen W. Schrimshaw, 88, formerly of Payne, currently of Columbia City, Ind., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at The Oaks, Columbia City.

She was born May 24, 1915, in Latty, the daughter of the late William and Hannah (Zielke) Huebner. On Jan. 1, 1939, she married Albert Schrimshaw, who survives.

Other survivors include:

Sons — Rex Schrimshaw of Largo, Fla., Neal Schrimshaw of Auburn, Ind., and Keith Schrimshaw of Bolingbrook, Ill.

Daughter — Marla White of Churubusco, Ind.

Eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Schrimshaw retired as an LPN from Paulding County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Briceton, the Rev. Joseph Allen officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding.

Calling hours are after 4 p.m. Friday at Slade Funeral Home, Payne.

Clara E. Bayless
Died: Wednesday, November 19, 2003
Age: 80

Clara E. Bayless, 80, formerly of Holland, Mich., died at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at her daughter’s residence.

She was born June 10, 1923, in Lincoln County, Tenn., the daughter of the late James T. and Cathrine R. (Hancock) Simmons. On July 24, 1946, she married James H. Bayless, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1992.

Other survivors include two daughters, Anita (Peter) vanden Berg of Van Wert and Kathy (Steve) Howard of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one sister, Mary McAlister of Oak Ridge, Tenn., four grandchildren, Danielle (Earl) Erland, K.C. Howard, Ashley Czerepak and Loren Czerepak, and two great-grandchildren, Earl and Renee Erland, also survive.

Mrs. Bayless was a homemaker and a member of Carlock Methodist Church in Carlock, Tenn.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert.

Kenneth L. Fronk
Died: Tuesday, November 18, 2003
Age: 83

DELPHOS — Kenneth L. Fronk, 83, of Delphos died at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert.

He was born July 29, 1920, in Allen County, the son of the late Frank and Minnie (Stirn) Fronk. On Sept. 30, 1945, he married Oleta Miller, who survives in Delphos.

Other survivors include:

Son — Phillip (Denise Mathews) Fronk of Delphos

Daughters — Marcia (Walt) Barber of Beaverdam, Char (John) Birkmeier and Susie (Dan) Rode, both of Delphos

Sisters — Frances Matthews of Pataskala, Ethel Coulson of Delphos, Norma Miller of Spencerville, Vera (Donald) Burnett of Venedocia, Ruth Fronk of Boise, Idaho, and Jean (Bob) Hassel of Henderson, N.C.

Brother — Carl Fronk of Mt. Vernon, Ohio

Nine grandchildren, Shellie Munoz, Scott (Renee) Fronk, Kelly (Curt) Garmatter, Angie (Will) Eversole, Brian Birkmeier, Erin (Steve) Stark, Jason (Megan) Birkmeier, Kyle and Lauren Rode, and three great-grandchildren, Sierra Fronk, Dominic Munoz and Klarissa Garmatter, also survive.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Alexandar Munoz.

Mr. Fronk retired from the Operating Engineers of Local 18, Toledo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Harry Tolhurst officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.

Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mittie Jean Ley
Died: Sunday, August 17, 2003
Age: 78

Mittie Jean Ley, 78, of Van Wert died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at her residence. She was the widow of Sidney A. Ley.

Arrangements are incomplete at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert.
