PAYNE - Anthony E Kuhn

Age: 70
PAYNE - Anthony E. Kuhn, 70, a former resident of Payne, currently of Syracuse, Ind., died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Payne, the son of the late Edward and Victoria (Lucas) Kuhn. His wife, Phyllis, preceded him in death in 1999.
Mr. Kuhn retired from Dana Corp., having worked in both Antwerp and Syracuse, Ind.
Survivors include:
Sons - Thomas Kuhn of Midwest City, Okla., Philip Kuhn of Goshen, Ind., and Kurt Kuhn of Pompano Beach, Fla.
Daughters - Karen Johnson of Boulder, Colo., and Tamara Biller of Defiance
Brothers - John Kuhn of New Haven, Ind., and Hobart Kuhn of Payne
Sisters - Christina Schaefer and Clela Sample, both of Payne, and Nila Radenbaugh of St. Helens, Mich.
Three grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Payne, the Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. Friday at Slade Funeral Home, Payne, where a rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.
FORT WAYNE
Died: Monday, December 9, 2002
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Mary E. Heath, 79, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Bethlehem Wood Nursing Home, Fort Wayne.
She was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late John Karl and Josephine (Shaw) Sinn. On May 31, 1942, she married John R. Heath, who survives.
Mrs. Heath was a homemaker, a teacher's aide and part-time secretary for the Croninger Elementary School, Fort Wayne.
Other survivors include two sons, Daniel (Yvonne) Heath of LaGrange, Ind., and Bradley K. Heath of Fort Wayne; one daughter, Kristi (John) Bennett of Garrett, Ind.; a sister, Helen Treece of Briceton; one brother, John R. Sinn of Ohio City; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Craft.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Jerry Paul officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to service time Thursday at the funeral home.

OHIO CITY - Vernon J Hoverman
Died: Sunday, December 8, 2002
Age: 80
OHIO CITY - Vernon J. Hoverman, 80, of Ohio City, died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
He was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Gary, Ind., the son of the late Russell and Ruth (Aurand) Hoverman.
Mr. Hoverman was the retired owner of the former Yours and Mine Restaurant and Bar 30 in Van Wert. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a pilot.
He was a member of American Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803 in Van Wert and the BPOE.
Survivors include three sons, William J. Hoverman and Kim (Bonnie) Hoverman, both of Van Wert, and Jay (Andrea) Hoverman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one daughter, Toni (Chuck) Bair of Fort Wayne, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating.
Calling hours are 1 p.m. to time of service Wednesday at at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is the American Lung Association.
DELPHOS - Avis Aline Askew
Died: Saturday, December 7, 2002
Age: 66
DELPHOS - Avis Aline Askew, 66, died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare of Lima.
She was born Jan. 3, 1936, in Brinkley, Ark., the daughter of the late Claude and Irene Clark Askew. In 1951, she married Calvin Atterberry, who preceded her in death. In 1970, she married Myrl Akerman Sr., who also preceded her in death.
Ms. Askew was a homemaker.
Survivors include:
Sons - Dennis (Laura) Atterberry of Delphos, Mark Atterberry of Los Angeles, Calif., Myrl Akerman of Seattle, Wash.
Daughters - Quincy (Robert) Kiracofe and Marcia Ardner, both of Delphos
Sister - Billie Jean (Cecil) Bryant of Covington, Tenn.
Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Askew Jr., and three sisters, Nell Reid, Faye Pitts and Frankie Walker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
FLORIDA
Died: Saturday, December 7, 2002
FLORIDA, Ohio - Delores L. McClory, 82, of Florida, Ohio, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Defiance Hospital, Defiance.
She was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Payne, the daughter of the late Victor and Catherine (Burke) Malcuit. She married Robert McClory, who survives.
Mrs. McClory was a homemaker.

Sister - Marcelene Meyer of Hicksville
Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Payne, Deacon Donald Coughlin officiating.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Slade Funeral Home, Payne, where a rosary service is set for 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Paislie Rose Miller-Dickinson died Friday afternoon
Died: Friday, December 6, 2002
Age: 6
Paislie Rose Miller-Dickinson died Friday afternoon, Dec. 6, 2002, shortly after birth at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
She was the daughter of Kerby Miller and Jennifer Dickinson.

Great-grandparents - Donald and Betty Richards of Delphos, Marcella and Ned Crum of Grover Hill and Rita Miller of Grover Hill

Great-grandparents - Blanche Dickinson of Van Wert and Ed and Edna Kanney of Van Wert
She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandfather, John Miller, and her maternal great-grandfather, John "Finney" Dickinson.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, the Rev. Joseph M. Schmelzer officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements were handled by Brickner Funeral Home.
OHIO CITY - Beloved grandmother
Died: Friday, November 30, 2001
OHIO CITY -- Beloved grandmother, friend and longtime resident of Ohio City, Violet W. (Mottinger) High Snyder, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 22, 2002, at 3 p.m. in her home in Ohio City. She had suffered a broken hip in May 2000, but had continued living in her home and enjoyed good health until six weeks before she departed this life.
Violet was born Dec. 9, 1906, in Ohio City, to the late John F. and Sadie (Putman) Mottinger. On Jan. 21, 1925, she married William Hial High, who died on June 11, 1968. She then married Gerald B. Snyder on June 28, 1975; he too passed away on May 5, 1985.
Violet worked in various jobs in her lifetime. She worked in retail at variety and 5/10 cent stores, at General Electric in Fort Wayne, Ind., and managed her own room and boarding home business. She also owned and operated both an Ohio City restaurant and grocery with her first husband, Hial.
Violet was a member of Ohio City Church of God for over 80 years. She belonged to the church's WCSC group and was a charter member of the Town and Country Club.
She was known to all for her deep Christian conviction which was displayed in her pleasant personality, her quick laugh and wit and her entire life of hospitality and service to others. She used Christ's example to influence those with whom she came in contact. Though her earthly presence will be missed by those who knew and loved her, we shall be led by her inspiration. We rejoice that God has taken her home to spend eternity with Him. She has left us a wonderful legacy to follow.
Family who survive and will miss her love, wit, laughter and commitment to her faith are a grandson and his wife, Charles "Chuck" and Judy Waterman; a granddaughter and her husband, Sue and Audie (Waterman) Thatcher, all of Ohio City; great-grandchildren, Nicole (Waterman) Barna and husband Alan of Rockford; Mindi Waterman of Swansboro, N.C., Jacob "Jake" Jones and fiancee Becca Adams and Meg Thatcher, both of Dayton, and Ross Thatcher of Ohio City; one great-great-grandson, Colton G. Barna of Rockford, and a brother, Don D. Mottinger and wife Elsie of Covington, La.
She was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Melvin, Murl and Von Mottinger; four sisters, Opal and Mary Lou Mottinger, Mildred (Mottinger) Rickard and Melba (Mottinger) Crowe; both husbands, and her only child, a daughter, Meda Belle (High) Waterman.
A service of the celebration of life will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Ohio City Church of God with the Rev. Matt Braun officiating and the Rev. Steve Waterman assisting. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Time of reflection, reminiscence and comfort for the family will be held on Tuesday, 2-8 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials in Violet's memory should be sent to the Ohio City Church of God or Community Health Professionals-Hospice.
SPENCERVILLE - Tamantha J. "Tammy' Ewing Marshall
Died: Friday, December 6, 2002
Age: 44
SPENCERVILLE - Tamantha J. "Tammy" Ewing Marshall, 44, of Bluffton and formerly of Spencerville, died at 3:17 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in a single vehicle accident on I-75 south of Bluffton.
She was born March 6, 1958, in Lima, the daughter of Paul A. and Marianne Blythe Ewing, who survive in Spencerville. She was formerly married to Bill Marshall, who survives.
Mrs. Marshall was employed for the past 13 years at BP Chemicals in Lima as a chemical operator and prior to that had worked 10 years at Superior Metals in Lima.
She was a member of Hartford Christian Church near Spencerville and the Chemical Workers Union. A 1976 graduate of Spencerville High School, she was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Other survivors include three sisters, Triena (Terry) Kahle of Kalida, Tarianne "Tari" (Nicholas) Calvelage of Fort Jennings and Twila J. Ewing of Spencerville; her fiance, Ralph Miller of Ottoville; two nieces, Nicole Calvelage of Fort Jennings and Maurissa Cummins of Spencerville and a nephew, Andrew Calvelage of Fort Jennings.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Revs. Robert King and Leonard Spacht officiating. Burial will follow in Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling hours are 3-9 p.m. Monday and after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
