DELPHOS - Arnold Strayer
Died: Wednesday, November 13, 2002
Age: 86
DELPHOS - Arnold Strayer, 86, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Delphos.
He was born March 30, 1916, in Allen County, the son of the late Ross and Jessie (John) Strayer.
Mr. Strayer worked for Ralph Restaurant in Elida for many years.
The survivors include:
Sister - Dortha Unland of Delphos
Brother - Lyle Strayer of Lima
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, LaVern Strayer, Griffith Strayer, Harold Strayer, Russel Strayer and Robert Strayer, and two sisters, Madella Strayer and Avonelle Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Ronald Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
CONTINENTAL - Erma Moore
Died: Monday, November 11, 2002
Age: 91
CONTINENTAL - Erma Moore, 91, of Continental died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Paradise Oaks Quality Care Center, Cloverdale.
She was born Dec. 3, 1910, in Continental, the daughter of the late William and Cora M. (Donaldson) Morehead. On Sept. 3, 1936, she married Joseph P. Moore, who preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1975.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker.
Survivors include:
Sons - William (Pat) Moore of Tusten, Calif., John E. Moore of Paulding and Lotus P. Moore of Continental
Daughters - Cora (John) Wistner of Haviland, M. Jane Thomas of Deming, N.M., Mary (Don) Ford of Fayette and Sue Ellen Moore of Continental
Thirteen grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph A. Moore, and a brother, Paul D. Morehead.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental. Burial will be in North Mt. Zion Cemetery, Continental.

ROCKFORD - Donald Earl Siebert
Died: Monday, November 11, 2002
Age: 78
ROCKFORD - Donald Earl Siebert, 78, died suddenly Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at his home outside Rockford.
He was born May 1, 1924, in Celina, the son of the late Benjamin and Bertha (Armstrong) Siebert. On July 20, 1946, he married Genevieve Leininger, who survives.
Mr. Siebert, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was a farmer.

Children - Gary Siebert of Rockford and Janice (Norman) Holcomb of New Bremen
Brother - James Siebert of Orange Lake, Fla.
Brother-in-law and sister-in-law - Gene and Ruth Leininger of Rockford
Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Jim Keiser officiating. Burial will be held at Buck Cemetery, Celina.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
CECIL - Betty E. Simpson
Died: Monday, November 11, 2002
Age: 69
CECIL - Betty E. Simpson, 69, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, in Pensacola, Fla.
She was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Pensacola, the daughter of the late Daniel and Ada (Hollingsworth) Barlow.
On Nov. 24, 1951, in Ringold, Tenn., she married George W. Simpson, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1994.
Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker. She had also worked at the Ohio Art Company, Bryan, for 12 years and was the former owner/operator of the Lone Tower Service Station, Cecil.
Survivors include:
Sons - Roger (Patty) Simpson of Cecil and Gary (Linda) Simpson of Silver Springs, Fla.
Daughters - Sherry Simpson Svec of Cecil and Lori (Steve) Jackson of Mark Center
Sisters - Marlene (Floyd) Shaw of Vernon, Fla., and Thelma (Bob) Jones of Virginia Beach, Va.
Four grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Bill Barlow.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Keith Sarver officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, Cecil.
Calling hours are from 2-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18 and from 8 a.m. to service time Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the funeral home.
PAYNE - Mary Jane Sheehan
Died: Friday, November 30, 2001
Age: 79
PAYNE - Mary Jane Sheehan, 79, of Payne, died Nov. 10, 2002, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
She was born April 7, 1923 in Fondulac, Wis. the daughter of William and Naomi (Voell) Ferguson. She married Francis Hyland in 1990. On Dec. 30, 1997, she married John J. Sheehan who survives.
Mrs. Sheehan was a homemaker.
Other survivors include:
Sons - Patrick Hyland of Sussey, Wis. and Peter Hyland of Milwaukee, Wis.
Daughters - Kathleen Moss - Wichita Falls, Texas and Anne Bartusch of Lake Placid, Fla.
Step-sons - Stephen Sheehan of Defiance and Stanley Sheehan of Van Wert
Step-daughters - Rita Lamb of Payne and Patricia Kroncke of Whitehouse
Brother - Robert Ferguson of Cincinnati
Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Cemetery, Payne, the Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Payne. There will be no calling hours.
DELPHOS - Nannette E. Nagel
Died: Wednesday, January 1, 2003
Age: 65
DELPHOS -- Nannette E. Nagel, 65, died at 12:54 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Harvey and Martha Bell Moffett Himmeger. On July 24, 1954, she married Eugene M. Nagel Sr., who preceded her in death on March 25, 1997.
Mrs. Nagel was a homemaker and worked at Jim's Restaurant for several years.
Survivors include:
Sons -- Rick (Michelle) Nagel of Byron, Ill., Dan "Mike" (Kelly) Nagel of Shawnee, Jim (Ann) Nagel of Delphos and Eugene (Nicole) Nagel Jr. of Van Wert
Daughters -- Diana Frobase of Florida, Mary (Jerry) Looser and Lisha Garza, both of Delphos, and Nancy Jo (Steve) Gordon of Convoy
Sister -- Nancy Fedele of Delphos
Brother -- Harvey Lowell Himmeger of Arizona
Twenty-three grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Diana L. Himmeger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. today at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. today.
ROCKFORD - Richard G. Shrider
Died: Wednesday, January 1, 2003
Age: 74
ROCKFORD - Richard G. Shrider, 74, of Rockford died at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert, where he had been a resident.
He was born April 21, 1928, in Sylvania, the son of the late Kenneth R. and Helen (Kerns) Shrider.
Mr. Shrider, a U.S. Army veteran, retired from Huffy's in Celina.
Survivors include:
Sons - Dudley (Charlotte) Shrider of Napoleon, Mike (Kathy) Shrider of Rockford and Jeff (Sue) Shrider of Mendon
Sisters - Lillian (Bill) Scantlen of Perrysburg and Jean Doyle of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
