J. Stanley Seger, ran Price Hill theaters
J. Stanley Seger, a former manager of the old Covedale and Sunset theaters in Price Hill, died Monday at age 80.
Mr. Seger, of Cincinnati, worked for 22 years at the Hamilton County Courthouse and was an active member of the county's Republican Party.
He was a former member of the Price Hill Ball Players of Yesterday "Oldtimers" Hibernians.
Survivors are three sons, Scott Seger, the Rev. Michael Seger and Kevin Seger; three daughters, Terry Seger, Mary Holland and Connie Huhn; a brother, Robert Seger; a sister, Lucille Scherrer; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services and visitation were today at Harry Meyer & Geiser Funeral Home, Price Hill.

Syvilla Aplin, taught at Hyde Park
Syvilla Marie Aplin set high standards for students during her 30 years of teaching at Hyde Park Elementary School.
"She loved it when former students came back and told her how glad they were that she had pushed them because it paid off later on," recalled Mrs. Aplin's son, Kenneth Aplin.
Mrs. Aplin, 91, of Hyde Park, died Tuesday.
The graduate of Hamline University came to Cincinnati in 1946, received a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and taught 30 years at Hyde Park before retiring in 1975.
"She is remembered by many Cincinnatians as a conscientious, dedicated teacher," said her son. "She emphasized writing and insisted that students write correctly and with clarity.
Mrs. Aplin was a member of the Ohio State Teachers Association, College Club of Cincinnati and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was a member of the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church for 50 years.
She also leaves a daughter, Faye Feinthel; her brother, Lawrence Santelman; and two grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elden A. Good Funeral Home, Hyde Park.

Sister Blanche Girard, teacher
Sister Blanche Girard, formerly Sister Mary Virginia Girard, died Thursday at the Sisters of Charity's Mother Margaret Hall in Delhi Township. She was 87.
Sister Blanche served as an educator for 47 years and a librarian for 20 more. She was a Sister of Charity for almost 70 years.
She taught at various schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, including St. Elizabeth in Norwood (1936-37); Holy Trinity in Middletown, Ohio, (1944-47) and Archbishop Alter High School, Kettering, Ohio (1963-71).
At the time of her death, Sister Blanche was a librarian in the Resource Center Library at the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse.
"She was always interested in the community and what was going on in the world," Sister Bonaventure Schmeidler said of her friend.
Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Motherhouse Chapel at the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse, 5900 Delhi Road.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Heritage Room at the motherhouse.
