Edithe Schiering, ran appliance store
Edithe M. Greene Schiering, 86, who with her late husband operated George Schiering & Sons Appliances in College Hill for more than 40 years, died Monday. The widow of Glenn E. Schiering, she was a member of the board of directors of the Cincinnati YWCA, the Cincinnati Women's Club, Cincinnati Garden Club and College Hill Presbyterian Church.
"Her children and grandchildren were always first on her agenda and her support and concern for them was unshakeable," recalled her son, David Schiering, of Ft. Meyers, Fla.
Other survivors: a daughter Glenna Mae Schiering of Wyoming, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Ave., College. Funeral services Friday are private. Memorials may be made to Children's Hospital Medical Center, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati 45229-3039.

John F. "Freddie" Knigga, a deacon, trustee and treasurer at Hanover Baptist Church in Hanover, Ind., died Wednesday. Mr. Knigga, 74, lived in Hanover.

He was a retired employee of the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corp. in Madison, Ind. He also was an Army veteran of World War II.
