Earl F. Ransom, civic and church leader
Earl F. Ransom, a former mayor, city council member and volunteer firefighter in Bromley, Ky., died Tuesday. He was 75.
'He was a strong leader,' said his son, Randall Ransom. 'He was known as someone who you could depend on to get something done. He was very outgoing, very sincere.'
Mr. Bromley, who was a retired foreman with Cincinnati Bell, also was active in the Masonic Lodge and at Lakeside Christian Church, where he was an elder emeritus.
The decorated Army veteran of World War II also leaves his wife, Pauline Surber Ransom; and daughter, Paula Ransom. Another daughter, Rebecca Jean Ransom, died in 1952.

Joseph Lucas Claxon Jr., agricultural expert
Joseph Lucas Claxon Jr., an agriculture adviser for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, died Monday. He was 80.
The Florence resident was a Boone County Agriculture Agent for 28 years. He was a member of the Boone County Fair Board and was the only person to ever serve as president and chairman of the state fair board. He was a state Farm Bureau Director and Boone County's Farm Bureau director for 10 years.
Mr. Claxon was a member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association and an avid UK baseball fall. He was honored with the Paul HarrisRotary Foundation and Citizen of the Year awards by the Florence Rotary Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He developed the Colonial Estates subdivision in Florence. He was a member of Florence Baptist Church, a past president of the Florence Rotary Club, and a member of the Boone County Chamber of Commerce.
He leaves his wife, Elizabeth Cox Claxon; son, Joseph Claxon III; and daughter, Ann Taylor.
