Joyce Gordon, taught school in Cincinnati
Joyce Danenhauer Gordon, a former elementary teacher for the Cincinnati Public Schools, died Thursday at age 82.
Mrs. Gordon was a graduate of University of Cincinnati and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
Mrs. Gordon also taught at the Unity Temple of Truth in Cincinnati and was a former Sunday school superintendent at the church.
Mrs. Gordon moved from Cincinnati to Columbus four years ago. Her husband Cedric preceded her in death.
She leaves sons, Douglas of Rochester Hills, Mich., Colin of Columbus, and Brian of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, Robert Danenhauer of Hamilton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Claremont Retirement Village, Columbus. Arrangements: Ohio Cremation and Memorial Society, Columbus.

Maurice Walsh, longtime doctor
Dr. Maurice R. Walsh, 88, a Crestview Hills, Ky., physician and member of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport Board, died Monday.
He was a founding partner of Radiology Associates of Northern Kentucky in Edgewood, the largest radiology group in Northern Kentucky.
The Covington native received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical School. He spent more than 40 years treating his patients as friends, said his daughter, Kathleen List, of Ft. Wright.
He also leaves a son, John Michael Walsh; another daughter, Paula Hopkins of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Ethlyn Walker and Margaret Hergott, both of Covington; and eight grandchildren.

Jill M. Sexton rites Wednesday
Services for Jill Michelle Sexton, a Hamilton High School senior who was found dead last week in Tennessee, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Hamilton. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Her boyfriend, Christopher Hubbard, 19, of Hamilton, is charged with murder. Ms. Sexton would have graduated from high school this June.
She leaves her mother and stepfather, Connie and Dan Isaacs of Fairfield; and her father, Neil Sexton of Hamilton.

Visitation tonight for Damien Jahnigen, 18
Visitation for Damien Jahnigen, 18, will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thomas-Justin Memorial Funeral Home.
Private services will be held Thursday.
Mr. Jahnigen died Saturday when he fell off a cliff in the Red River Gorge near Slade, Ky.
His grandfather, Harry Jahnigen, said the youth was a veteran hiker and former Eagle Scout who fell after trying to spot an eagle's nest in the Clifty Wilderness area.
Mr. Jahnigen, who was to graduate in June from Live Oaks Career Development School, was the son of Gregory and Linda Jahnigen of Mariemont.

Robert Lee Schletker, longtime riverboat pilot
Robert Lee Schletker spent most of his life as a riverboat pilot.
Although he retired in 1986, he never gave up his love for the Ohio River and took occasional jobs supervising loading and unloading of barges.
'Once you get started on the river, it's hard to quit,' Mr. Schletker said in a 1988 Post interview.
Mr. Schletker, 78, of Covington, died Monday.
He became a pilot for several barge companies that pushed coal, grain and steel along the Ohio River.
In 1970, Mr. Schletker took a job for Valley Line Co. in Cincinnati and remained with the company until 1986, when he retired.
Mr. Schletker's father, Arthur, was a riverboat pilot who was known as 'Captain Red.' Robert Schletker grew up on the Ohio and passed his love of the Ohio River down to his children.
Mr. Schletker's work inspired two of his children, Robert Jr., a former port engineer in Cincinnati, and Steven, an attorney who specializes in maritime law, to earn their livings in part from the Ohio.
He leaves his wife, Roseanna Costa Schletker; daughters, Toni Bravo of Crescent Springs and Angel Keene and Terri Neltner, both of Villa Hills; and 12 grandchildren.

Donald B. Weber, professor and volunteer
Donald B. Weber, 53, a professor of educational psychology and former associate dean of Miami University's School of Education, died Monday after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Weber was nominated for numerous divisional and university-wide teaching and advising awards. He served many years as coordinator of Miami's special education program and was instrumental in bringing the Special Olympics to Oxford, Ohio.
He served on the board of directors for the Children's Diagnostic Center in Hamilton, as treasurer of the Talawanda Academic Booster Organization, as a member of Talawanda Athletic Boosters and as a member of the executive board of Talawanda Pride Inc.
Mr. Weber, an avid tennis player and sailor, also worked with young people as a head soccer coach for the Oxford Recreation League and as an assistant coach for youth baseball league.
He became a full-time member of Miami's faculty in 1976 after completing a year as a post-doctoral teaching fellow and was promoted to full professor in 1991. He served as associate dean from 1994 to 1998, when illness forced him to give up the post. He was a graduate of the State University of New York in Buffalo and earned his doctorate from Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Weber leaves his wife, Diane; son, Jeremy; brother, Richard Weber, and sister, Janet Lein.
