Annette C. Vogt, bridal consultant
Annette C. Vogt, 61, of Groesbeck, a retired bridal consultant, died Friday.
The Seton High School graduate was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her family and friends. The hobby led to a job as a seamstress at Wedding Party Formal Wear in Westwood.
"She was a beautiful seamstress," said Mrs. Vogt's former supervisor, Grace Baarlaer. "It was a blessing when we hired her. When customers returned for fittings, they asked for her by name. She helped the girls as if they were her own daughters."
Mrs. Vogt also was a Girl Scout leader.
"She was the one who had the knack for crafts," said Girl Scout leader Arletha Montgomery. "She was creative and taught the girls to look for ways to give a project that extra touch."
Mrs. Vogt also served two terms as president of the ladies auxiliary for the Purcell Council Knights of Columbus.
"She led the auxiliary in raising cash donations to improve the Knights of Columbus meeting facility," said Betty Gibbs.
Mrs. Vogt also enjoyed gardening, square dancing, camping, candle making and cooking from scratch.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, William R. Vogt of Groesbeck; daughters, Charlene Vogt of Pleasant Ridge, Joyce Vogt of Mount Airy, and Carolyn Vogt of Groesbeck; a son, W. Michael Vogt of Miamitown; sisters, Marcella Leibel of Mack and Loretta Van Lierop of Hebron, Ky.; and brothers; Ray Frondorf of Bridgetown, George Frondorf of Delhi and Larry Frondorf of Bellevue, Ky.
Visitation will be today at Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, Westwood, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann Church, Cincinnati.

Michael P. Spadafora, University doctor
University Hospital emergency room physician Dr. Michael P. Spadafora, renowned for his skill in a medical crisis as well as his care of patients, died Sunday from injuries suffered in a car crash in Warren County.
Dr. Spadafora, 46, of Waynesville, was critically injured late Saturday when his car crashed into trees on Gard Road, near Waynesville. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton where he died Sunday.
"He was a wonderful person," said Dr. Brian Gibler, chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at University Hospital. Dr. Gibler said Dr. Spadafora had a "broad field of knowledge" while also being "very gifted as a people person."
Dr. Spadafora also had an outstanding relationship with paramedics, nurses, and police, Dr. Gibler recalled.
Early last year Cincinnati police honored Dr. Spadafora and emergency nurses for their heroic attempt to save Officers Ronald Jeter and Daniel Pope, who were shot to death in December 1997.
"He was just a neat guy," said Traffic Sgt. Bill Coombs. "He never gave up working on somebody."
Said Specialist Charles "Chuck" Beebe of the Traffic Unit, "I told him that if anything happened to me, I hope he was the one working in the emergency room that night." Beebe and Dr. Spadafora went to Princeton High School together.
Dr. Spadafora was special because of his caring and sincerity, Beebe said. "There was always a degree of comfort knowing he would be there if you were hurt."
Dr. Spadafora had served as flight physician for AirCare in the past. "Mike was one of the best people we ever worked with," said AirCare Flight Nurse Renee Holleran.
Dr. Spadafora was part of University Hospital's Center for Emergency Care for 25 years, said Dr. Gibler. Dr. Spadafora started out as a physician's assistant and went on to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he graduated with honors.
He completed his residency in the Department of Emergency Medicine and was chief resident in his last year in 1988.
He was a member of UC's College of Medicine faculty, Department of Emergency Medicine for 11 years and was an expert in toxicology. "He was one of only 150 certified toxicologists in the country," said Gibler.

Mark Leslie, North College Hill tax administrator
Mark A. Leslie, tax administrator for the city of North College Hill, died Thursday in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Leslie, 48, lived in Burlington, Ky.
Mr. Leslie was a member of the Theta Chi honors fraternity at the University of Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Scheila V. Leslie; stepsons, Ben Bolton and Tom Bolton, both of Florence; a brother, Thomas Leslie of Cincinnati; and a sister, Lynne Leslie of Cincinnati.

Scott Barkley, Channel 5 chief news photographer
Scott Barkley, chief news photographer of WLWT (Channel 5), died Tuesday after a three-month battle with cancer.
Barkley, 52, of Anderson Township had been with the station for 25 years. He was well known at the Hamilton County courthouse as well as with local police and fire departments.
He had worked a morning shift, where he often spent much of his time chasing crime stories that led from the city streets to the courthouse and the jail.
"He had the biggest heart. He was a wonderful co-worker and a wonderful person. Everyone here is kind of gloomy today," said Sally Macy, assistant news director of the station. "He left an amazing record here and he won't be forgotten."
Channel 5 said that Barkley's career highlights included the work he did in 1983 when he was the only NBC photographer on the scene when the U.S. embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, was bombed, killing 241 Americans.
Barkley had reported extensively from the Middle East for Channel 5. He also had been inside the penitentiary in Lucasville when prisoners rioted in 1993 and had covered Pope John Paul's visit to New York in 1995.
He had won five regional Emmys for his camera work and also had had been recognized by Women Helping Women for his sensitive coverage of domestic violence. He was the first male to receive an award from the organization.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Buffy" Barkley, who teaches English at the College of Mount St. Joseph; and daughters, Annie, Elizabeth and Katie.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Anderson Township. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
