Tom Wilhelm-Olsen, proud of heritage
Tom Wilhelm-Olsen loved two things: sports cars and his Norwegian heritage.
Mr. Wilhelm-Olsen, who came to the United States from Norway as a 17-year-old on July 4, 1958, never surrendered his Norwegian citizenship. In fact, he flew a Norwegian flag below the U.S. flag each May 17, Norwegian Independence Day.

He was a project manager with Pedco E&A Services of Cincinnati.
He also was an avid car racing enthusiast and loved sports cars. He was a member of Sports Car Club of America, the Consolidated Sports Car Club and Engineering Society of Cincinnati.
He owned a few sports cars over the years, but had a 1965 Austin Healy 3000 that he loved, said his son, Nicholas, of Apex, N.C.
"He was real proud of it," Nick Wilhelm-Olsen said.
Mr. Wilhelm-Olsen used to run rally races, in which competitors are given a map and directed through check points while driving cross-country.
For a while, he was chief timer at a Sports Car Club of America track in mid- Ohio.
