GOLDSTEIN Richard Joel Goldstein, age 73, born in 1929 in Columbus, Oh., died August 25, 2002 in Los Angeles, Calif. Predeceased by Dorothy Comeras Goldstein, 1986, Maurice Goldstein, 1959. Survived by Rhonda Cahn Goldstein, age 45 (Steven, and 3 children, Lauren, Michelle and Joshua), Marla Corburn Goldstein (Scott) and Curtis Goldstein; brother, Robert David Goldstein. He was married for 33 years to Sandra Francis Kahn Goldstein, who died in 1989 at age 54. Longtime star baseball player in Amateur Columbus Fast Pitch Leagues. Played 17 years in Sunday Morning League and other leagues, including Columbus Industrial League. Voted Most Valuable Player in SML in 1955, having pitched a perfect game in that same year, leading teams to several SML titles. Pitcher and center fielder. Jazz pianist who played in groups such as Don Tate Trio and others. Career in home improvement sales for more than 4 decades. Graduate of Columbus South High School, 1946, served in the U.S. Air Force, and attended The Ohio State University. While in U.S.A.F. played on Lackland A.F.B. Baseball team. He is loved very much and will be missed by all who knew him.

GOULDING Betty Green Goulding, age 84, of Columbus, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Kobacker House, Hospice at Riverside. She was a retired office manager. Her husband Joseph G. Goulding and her parents Albert V. and Mettie Green, preceded her in death. Her survivors include her daughter, Rebecca L. Goulding and her fiance, Joseph T. Nesbit; nephew, Robert Goulding; special friends, Kathleen Schaepper, Joanne Lett, Mary Beth and Kevin Caldwell; grandchildren of her heart, Marquite Nesbit, Lauren and Matthew Caldwell. She was an avid bowler, bridge player and she loved OSU Basketball. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, 414 E. North Broadway, Columbus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:15 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2002 with Msgr. Anthony Missimi, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph cemetery, Lockbourne, Oh. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Riverside/Grant, 3535 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43214. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Michael Weiss for his care and compassion during this difficult time. GUZZO Joan M. Guzzo, 86, Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at the Monterey Care Center. She was a member of Grace Community Church. Preceded in death by husband Louis J. Guzzo and great-granddaughter Shannon Powell. Surviving her are children, John (Deborah) Guzzo of Grove City, Oh., Louis Jr. (Betty) of S.C., Jo Ann Sparks of Glendale, Calif.; sisters, Minnie Friel and Sylvia (Tom) Hensel; brother, Tony (Thelma) Figilola; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. HANNAH Dolores M. Hannah, age 72, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2002. Member of First Baptist Church of Grove City and a Nazarene at heart. Member of American Legion Auxiliary Southway Post #144. Dolores was a great wife and mother. Preceded in death by parents Arthur and Minnie Kirkbride, brother Jack. Survived by husband of 54 years, Robert; son, Jack; daughter, Sherry; 6 grandchildren; 10* great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends and Bingo buddies. HART Mildred Marie Hart, age 87, died August 25, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Retired employee of Columbus Dispatch and Bank Ohio. Longtime member Columbia Heights United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by parents L.W. and Mary Ethel Johnson. Survived by husband, Harold; several nieces, nephews and loyal friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Columbia Heights United Methodist Church, 91 Sturbridge Rd. Rev. A. Gail Sims officiating. Private interment was held at Alton cemetery. JOHNSTON Juan E. Johnston, age 48, passed away Friday, August 23, 2002. Funeral service Friday 10 a.m. in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street. LEE (CARMON) Lela Mae (Carmon) Lee, age 48, passed away Friday, August 23, 2002 at her residence. Lela was a lifelong resident of Columbus and a graduate of Marion-Franklin High School. Employed in the health care field for 30 years. Preceded in death by her father Alfred Carmon and mother Lollia Ross Carmon. Survived by daughter, Raven L. Lee; brother, Alfred Carmon Jr.; and many other extended family members and friends. Family will receive friends Saturday 9-10 a.m. in the chapel at DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. LITTERAL Henry H. Litteral, age 76, retired fire chief from the City of Upper Arlington, died Friday, August 23, 2002 in Mexico. Survived by wife of 50 years, Barbara; children, Mike (Margaret), Tim (Sherry), David (Nikki), Jeff (Teresa), Pam (Jonathan) LaBenne, Rock (Donna) and Nathan (Tarianne) Litteral; 24 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, James Litteral. Preceded in death by parents, brothers and grandson Brandon. Chief Litteral was a U.S. Navy veteran serving with the Armed Guards during WW II. He began his career with Upper Arlington Fire Department in 1957 and retired as Chief of the department in 1982. He was a member of the Int'l Assoc. of Fire Chiefs and Ohio Fire Chiefs Association. Friends and family may call from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. LOHN Raymond C. Lohn, Sr., 83, of Westerville, Saturday at St. Ann's Hospital. Veteran of WW II where he received the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the WW II Victory Ribbon. Former employee of Columbus Wholesale Barber Supply and a Master Mason. Preceded in death by wife Elizabeth (Bunny) Hayes Lohn. Survived by sons, Ray Lohn, Jr. of Columbus and Roger Lohn of Logan; daughter, Shirley Nemish of Columbus; nephews, Matt Hayes of Charleston, WV, Dr. John Hayes of Chicago, IL, Andrew Hayes of Fredericksburg, VA and Pat Hayes of Rock Hill, SC; brother-in-law, Rev. McCARTY Evelyn J. McCarty, 79, of 1116 Apple Valley Drive, died August 28, 2002 at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mt. Vernon. She was born August 9, 1923 in Sandusky to the late John and Florence (Farwell) Wilt. She retired in 1987 from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services where she was supervisor of the financial section. She was a member of the St. Luke's Catholic Church in Danville. She is survived by 2 daughters, Linda McCarty of Howard and Sharon Cousins of Phoenix, AZ.; 3 granddaughters; 2 great-grandsons; a sister, and 2 brothers. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2002 at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville. Graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph cemetery in Lockbourne. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local Hospice or the St. Luke's Parish, PO Box P, Danville, OH 43014. The FISCHER FUNERAL HOME in Danville is handling the arrangements.

PRIDE Alice A. Pride, age 96, died August 27, 2002 at Worthington Christian Village, Columbus, Oh., where she has been a resident since 1986. She formerly was a resident of Bethel, Oh. Preceded in death by her husband Bauer Pride, her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her 3 sons, Denham (Peggy) of Upper Arlington, Blair (Marjene) of Bethel and Lloyd (Patricia) of West Point, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces. She was born in Loveland, Oh. and graduated from Bethel High School and the Cincinnati College of Music. She gave piano lessons from 1929 until 1965. She was active in the Pride INsurance Agency from 1956 until 1980. She was a longtime member of the Bethel Church of Christ and changed her membership to Worthington Christ Church after moving to Columbus. The past few years she has worshiped at the services held at Worthington Christian Village. REID James "Jim" Reid, age 65, of Reynoldsburg, former longtime resident of Gahanna, passed away Monday, August 26, 2002. He was an employee of United Sheet Metal for 15 years and had 20 years of auto sales service retiring from Quality Chevrolet and attended the Reynoldsburg Church of the Nazarene. He is preceded in death by his parents William Reid Sr. and Sarah McCrory, brother William Reid Jr. and son Jimmy Reid. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; mother-in-law, Kathryn "Kitty" Bode; son, Ron (Beth) Reid, Delaware; daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Conner, Gahanna; their mother, Janet (Dean) Crosson; son, Jeff (Michelle) Kidwell, Hebron; Kathy (Chuck) Cook, Carroll; grandchildren, Caitlin and Zachary Reid, Brittany and James Conner, Emily Kidwell, Chuck, Willie and Lori Cook; half-brother, Robert Reid; lifelong friend, John (Sally) Arnold. ROAN Martha M. "Pat" Roan, born September 10, 1920 in Columbus, Oh., died August 13, 2002 in San Diego, Calif. Preceded in death by her sister Mary Kathryn Heyn, brother John M. Roan. Survived by sister, Regina "Sally" Doyle of Cincinnati, Oh.; numerous nieces and nephews. Graduate of Rosary High School, B.S. in Art from Immaculata College, San Diego. Masters Degree, Pepperdine University. Retired School Teacher. Inducted into the Navy May 4, 1944, Columbus, Oh. trained at Hunter College and Stillwater, Okla. Assigned to Receiving Center, Navy Dept., Washington, D.C. Honorably Discharged Yeoman 3rd Class April 2, 1946. Funeral Mass Friday 1:30 p.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, 6440 S. ROTON Kirsten Reynolds Roton, 33, passed away August 19, 2002 at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Fla., while battling cancer. She was preceded in death by her infant son and father Simon Reynolds. She is survived by her children, Sheryl, Anthony and Ashley Roton; her mother, Jean Reynolds Pennington; brother and sister, Gregory and Leslie Reynolds; a large extended family and numerous good friends. THOMPSON Dorothy A. Thompson, age 75, of Upper Arlington, passed away August 27, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church and an avid bowler for over 35 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, James T. Thompson, son Gary Wilhelm, parents John and Josephine Schriever, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Dorothy is survived by her children, Larry Wilhelm of Kalamazoo, MI, Linda Frew of Columbus, Janine (Eric) Hutchings of Lexington, VA, James T. (Julie) Thompson II of Utica, OH, Lori (Greg) Lindsay of Denver, CO; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
