PETER GEOFFREY (GEOFF) FRANKS
1960–2007
BERNICE, Okla. - Peter Geoffrey (Geoff) Franks died in February 2007.
He was born May 16, 1960 in Tahlequah, Okla. to Gene Howard and Malinda Alice Franks. He was their second son. He attended school in Denton, Texas until 1972 and completed school in Okemah, Okla. He worked as a welder for years in the oilfield in Oklahoma. He also worked with the mentally and physically challenged at the Denton State School in Denton. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Simmons Industries in Southwest City, Mo. for seven years. He then moved back to Denton in 1996 and was a manager of Evers Hardware for two years.
Prior to his death he had been self employed in lawn service and operated a small engine repair shop in Bernice, Okla.
He was the grandson of James and Clara McMillen and Howard and Nita Belle Franks of Okemah, Okla. They preceded him in death.
He was the father of three beautiful children, whom he loved very much and one granddaughter: Andrew Franks, of Prague, Okla.; Kaycie Franks of Joplin, Mo.; and Dillon Franks of Kansas. His granddaughter, Riley Dawn, lives in Prague, Okla.
He is also survived by: his mother and father, Gene Franks of Denton; Malinda Clark of Bernice, Okla.; brother, James H. Franks of Denton; and a sister Julie E. Franks of Tulsa, Okla.
Geoff will be remembered for his beautiful smile and his big heart. He had been ill for 2-1/2 years. He lived with his mother and took care of her until shortly before his death.
A memorial service will be held in March at a location to be announced at a later date.
Geoff donated his body to O.U. Medical School and will be cremated.

JESSE P. “BUSTER” MORROW, JR.
1915-2007
DISNEY, Okla. – Jesse P. Morrow, Jr., 91, died Wednesday morning, February 7, 2007 at his home in Disney.
Jesse, or “Buster”, as he was known to friends and family alike, was born May 9, 1915 at Row, Okla. to Jesse P. “Tobe” Morrow, Sr. and Maggie D. (Martin) Morrow. He grew up northwest of Topsy, Okla. and attended Seed Tick School. Buster married Vida Mae Robertson on May 20, 1944 at the Delaware County Courthouse in Jay, Okla. The couple moved to Tahlequah, Okla., and Buster was a bus driver there. He worked for Grand River Dam Authority for 14 years, became a trucker for several years and finally worked in construction 14 years prior to his retirement in 1978.
While in the construction business, Buster helped build the Markham Ferry Dam on Lake Hudson. The Morrow’s moved from Tahlequah to Jay, Okla., then to a farm in Topsy, before moving to Disney in 1950. Buster was a member of the Disney Assembly of God. He loved to fish, hunt and garden. Buster especially liked growing strawberries. He was family-oriented and compassionate and generous to those he met.
Survivors include: his wife, Vida of the home; one daughter, Lorene Schaller and her husband, Larry of Disney; a son, Larry Morrow and his wife, Susan of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by nine brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 9, at Disney Assembly of God with Rev. Daryl Lee officiating. Interment will be in Duffield Cemetery, Jay, under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay.

R.W. PATTON
1917-2007
MIAMI, Okla. – R.W. Patton of Miami died at 11:23 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center after a short illness. He was 89.
Patton was born on February 26, 1917 in Olvey, Ark. to Edgar and Ruby (Johnson) Patton. He graduated from the Harrisonville (Arkansas) High School with the class of 1935. He joined the Navy during World War II serving from May 29, 1942 to September 20, 1945. He served aboard the U.S.S. Swanson as an Apprentice Seaman. He advanced through the ratings to Temporary Chief Electrician’s Mate, the rating he held when he was honorably discharged.
While on the Swanson he saw action in the Algeria-Morocco landings during the period of November 8-11, 1942. The ship earned a Battle Star. Patton returned to Miami in March of 1946 and established the Patton Shoe Store, which he owned and operated until the time of his death.
He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On April 4, 1942, he married Lorraine Gaylin in Mount Vernon, Mo. She preceded him in death in 1967. He married Betty Shipman on January 12, 1970 in Vinita. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son, Gary Patton and his wife Debbie of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Lee Patton of Miami; one step-daughter, Jackie Robinson of Miami; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Jane Patton of Monett, Mo.
His brother, Edgar Junior Patton preceded him in death, as did his parents.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 8, at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami with Minister Ron Eden officiating. Burial will follow in G.A.R. Cemetery where Floyd L. Perry American Legion Post #147 Veterans Funeral Detail will perform military rites.
The family suggests memorials to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for eye research.

JEANE LIPPINCOTT CHRISTENSEN
1916-2007
COLUMBUS, Kan. – Jeane Lippincott Christensen, formerly of Grove, Okla., quietly slipped away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at her home in Columbus. She was 90 years old.
Jeane was born on November 24, 1916 in Hutchinson, Kan. Her parents were Harry and Ethyl Mae Foster Lippincott. Jeane grew up and attended school in Hutchinson and was a member of the graduating class of 1934. After graduation, she attended business school in Wichita, Kan. Near the start of World War II, she enlisted in the U.S. Marines, and served two years before she received an Honorable Discharge. While in the Marines, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, a fellow Marine, R.C. “Chris” Christensen. The couple was married on April 18, 1945 in Las Vegas, Nev. They were best friends and remained devoted to each other until Christ passed away in November of 1990, after 45 years of marriage.
Jeane was an employee at the U.S. Post Office in Grove for over 20 years. She and Chris also owned and operated Long Horn Antiques, south of Grove for many years. Jeane was an active member of the Grove community and belonged to several organizations there.
Jeane was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Rick and Gary. While the boys were in school, Jeane was active in every aspect of their lives. Always there to encourage the boys to excel, she and Chris were actively involved in the Boy Scouts with their sons. Through their guidance, Rick and Gary each earned the rank of Eagle Scout. They were the first and second boys to achieve the rank in the history of Grove. Always a proponent of education, Jeane and Chris stayed active with the boys throughout their college years.
Gary, who attended the University of Tulsa on a football scholarship, fondly remembers his parents attending each one of his college games, following the team across the United States.
After retirement, and seeing her sons through college, Jeane continued an active life. She became an accomplishe3d wood worker and jewelry maker.. She loved traveling and visited nearly every state in the union. Throughout her life, Jeane kept her mind active and kept up to date with current affairs. She was extremely well read and never failed to amaze her grandchildren with her depth of knowledge in any number of areas. In 1990, Jeane moved to Columbus.
Jeane is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, two sisters, Viola Bainter and Willa Mae White; one brother, George Lippincott; and infant brother, Jack Lippincott.
She is survived by: two sons, Rick and wife Mary, of Tulsa, Okla., and Gary and wife Susie, of Columbus; nephew, Max Bainter and wife Jodee of Winner, S.D.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Connor and husband Rodney of Frisco, Texas, Richard Ryan Christensen of Addison, Texas, and Jamie Martin and husband Brian of Welch, Okla.; two great grandsons, Zachary and Korbyn, also of Welch; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at Olympus Cemetery in Grove with Danny Mullins officiating. Interment will follow the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Jim Thomas, Thomas Funeral Home, Welch.

MICHAEL P. MULLIKIN
1971-2007
GROVE, Okla. - Michael P. Mullikin, age 35, died February 27, 2007 due to injuries sustained in an accident in Joplin Mo.
Mike was born December 31, 1971 in Ventura Calif. to Jerry Rae Mullikin and Margaret Marie Carpenter. Mike graduated high school 1990 in Jasper, Mo., then attended Tadd Tech School in Kansas City, Mo. Mike was the owner of his own heavy equipment construction business and was a front-end alignment specialist at Peterbuilt Industries in Joplin, Mo. Mike was a member of the Grove Masonic Lodge #187 AF&AM.
Mike married the love of his life, Angela Husong on June 18, 1994 in Grove.
Mike is survived by: his wife Angela and three children of the home, Sydney Nicole, Heidi Loinae, and Zane Michael, of Grove; his mother Margaret Mullikin, of Grove; his father Jerry and step-mother Judy, of Grove; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” Mullikin, of Camarillo, Calif., and Jerry Mullikin, Jr. of Washington; two sisters, Pamela Battle of Las Vegas Nev., and Diana Mullikin of Washington. Other survivors include special friends, Kenny and Sandy Steeves of Jasper, Mo., Leland and Karen Still of Carthage, Mo., and numerous uncles and aunts.
Michael was preceded in death by one brother, Mitchell Mullikin.
An open visitation will be held at Ellis Family Funeral Home Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Masonic Rites and with Ed McFall officiating. Internment will follow at Fields Cemetery. Fields Cemetery is located East of Grove on 690 Rd., south of Dodge Baptist Church.
There has been a Mike Mullikin Memorial Account set up at the First National Bank in Grove.
Services have been entrusted to Ellis Family Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Grove, OK 74344.

LINDA GAIL BUTLER
1942 – 2007
VINITA, Okla.- Linda Gail Butler, 64 year-old Vinita resident, passed away Thursday, March 8, at Rosewood Terrace Nursing Center of Vinita, Okla.
Linda was born January 1, 1942 in Erie, Ks. to Cecil R. and Edith Loraine (Sears) Thurman. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. Linda loved to sew, play the piano, singing, and an avid reader and worked in the church library.
She is survived by companion Ernest Frye and her children, Nicholas Harrison and wife Cindy of Chanute, Ks. John Harrison Jr. and wife Betty of Pittsburg, Ks. Shane Harrison and wife Karen of Parsons, Ks. Edith Harrison of Wichita, Ks. Anson Frye of Chanute, Ks. and Frank Frye and wife Jammie of Emporia, Ks.; a sister, Sandy Asbil and husband Pat of Utah; a brother Tom Thurman and wife Darlene of Iola, Ks. 11 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 12th at the White Oak Baptist Church with Pastor Leland Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at White Oak Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Services of Vinita.

ORIN EARL CHADWICK
1938 – 2007
JAY, Okla.- Orin Earl Chadwick, 68 year-old longtime resident of Jay, passed away Saturday, March 10, of a sudden illness.
Orin was born May 27, 1938, in Bell, Ca. to Orin and Cora Ozios Chadwick. He was a proud veteran serving his country in the Navy during Vietnam.
Orin was united in marriage to Thelma Asher on March 10, 1962, in Orange, Ca. Together they moved to the Jay area in 1978.
Surviving family members include; his wife, Thelma of the home, son, Alex Chadwick and wife Kathy of Norman, Okla. daughter, Serena Browning and husband Charles of Celora, Okla. sister, Vivian Zook of Frankfort, In. and three grandchildren, Kalisha, Chase, and Jacob Browning. Orin was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, at Turner Funeral Chapel in Jay, Okla., with Rev. James Kissee officiating.
