Alice Mae Bostick
Wanette resident Alice Mae Bostick, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 27, in Norman.

She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Danville, Ark. to Robert and Emma (Hall) Peeler. Alice was raised in the Wanette area.

She was married March 14, 1942, in Lubbock, Texas, to Dave T. Bostick. Mr. Bostick preceded her in death May 10, 1998.

Following her marriage she and her husband farmed and ranched in West Texas for 20 years. They then ran a dairy in Chromo, Colo., for 5 years. In 1965 they moved back to Macomb where they also farmed and ranched.

In 2000 she moved to Wanette, where she had lived since. She enjoyed gardening, house plants, crocheting, reading, cooking, canning and raising chickens.

She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Kent Bramwell; two sisters, Letha Wilson and Flora Degn; and three brothers, Lee, Ed and George Lester Peeler.

Survivors include, three daughters and one son-in-law, Janet Taylor of Oklahoma City, Rosa Lea and Kenneth Griffith of Liberal, Kan., and Beverly Bostick of Wanette, two sisters, Roxie Farley of Lexington, Clema Farley of Wanette, one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Pat Peeler of Del City; grandchildren, Margaret Whitaker, Eric Taylor, Derek Taylor, Daniel Taylor and Tamie Elam; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh and again beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Chapel in Wanette.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Wanette with the Rev. Larry Stevenson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Wanette, officiating. Burial will be at Tribbey Cemetery.

Ruby Laverne Thompson
Maud resident Ruby Laverne Thompson died Saturday, Jan. 27, in Oklahoma City at the age of 80.

She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Eagletown, Okla., to James E. and Lillie Mae (Vickery) Cobb.

She was raised in the Macomb area and had lived in Purcell. She had resided in Maud for the past 15 years.

On Feb. 11, 1942, she married Marvell Thompson in Pauls Valley. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2001.

Ruby was a licensed practical nurse and had worked at Central State Hospital, Mission Hill Hospital, Sunset Estates in Seminole and Maud and Shawnee Care Center. She also had worked as a beautician out of her home.

Ruby enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and fishing. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a focal point in her life. Also preceding her in death was one grandson, James Garretson.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and James Garretson of Maud, Jolene and Max Hunt of Seminole, Nickie and Jerry Nelson of Maud, and Debbie and Randy Briggs of Tecumseh; son and daughter-in-law, Morris and Carleta Thompson of Tecumseh; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dewayne Hillis of Stratford; brother, William Cobb of Asher; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends, including special friend, Melvin Long.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Martin and the Rev. Dennis Stone officiating. Burial will be at Old Moral Cemetery.

Bernice Jody Pack
Seminole resident Bernice Jody Pack, 53, died Monday, Jan. 29, at her home.

Service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Temple of Praise Church in Seminole. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Dale E. Murdock Sr.
Lake Leon, Texas, resident Dale E. Murdock Sr., 67, died Monday, Jan. 29, in an Abilene hospital.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Edwards Funeral Home, Eastland, Texas.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Edwards Funeral Chapel in Eastland with Dr. Shawn Brewer officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger.

Jack W. Erb Jr.
Oklahoma City resident Jack W. Erb Jr., 64, died Monday, Jan. 29, at his residence.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wilmont Place Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, with the Rev. Danny Frazee officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Wilbern "Tip" Dees
Former Seminole resident Wilbern "Tip" Dees, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Sulphur Veterans Center.

Service is pending under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Eileen Marie Smart
Former Seminole resident Eileen Marie (Bobbitt) Smart died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in McKinney, Texas, as the age of 62.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Billingslea, the Rev. Rob Gore and the Rev. Jerry Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, 8 miles north of Seminole on Hwy 377, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Glenna Simon
Shawnee resident Glenna Simon died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in a local hospital at the age of 64.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bill Matthews and Larry Goins officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee.

Further information will be announced by Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee.

Robert Lee Halstead
Shawnee resident Robert Lee "Bob" Halstead, 86, departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Oklahoma City.

He was born March 27, 1920, in Carterville, Ill., to Sam and Mary (Freeman) Halstead.

Bob served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy. He was a retired geologist, a member of the First Christian Church in Shawnee, and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verna Lucetta (Richardson) Halstead; and one grandson.

Survivors include his son, Gary Lane Halstead of Haymarket, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Bob Pickett of Prague; brother, Sam Halstead Jr. of Ohio; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Pastor John Halstead, Bro. Tim Emmons, and the Rev. Milo Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery.

Mark Allen Taylor-Barnett
Shawnee resident Mark Allen Taylor-Barnett, 32, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 30. He passed from this life at his home in Shawnee.

He was born April 2, 1974, at South Community Hospital to Roger and Sherida Barnett.

He was very humorous and mischievous. Mark enjoyed playing with his dogs, going to the casino, spending time with his family and making people laugh.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carma Nell Eidson; grandfather, Billy Barnett; and aunt, Cheryl Bryan.

Survivors include his parents, Roger Barnett and Sherida Taylor; one daughter Rrhaylee Barnett and her mother (his best friend) Melissa Stubblefield; one brother, Billy Barnett; four sisters, Laura Lyn Brown and her husband, Josh, Amber Barnett, Ashley Taylor, and Roxy Barnett; two nieces, Ronee Harlin and her husband, Seth, and Whitney Coching; two nephews, Avry and Aydin Young; and one great-niece Blakelyn Harlin; one grandmother; Lenora Barnett; one grandfather, Jim Eidson; two very dear friends, Margo Starnes and Rosa Chan; his beloved dogs Peanut and Pepper and many other friends and family members.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.

Reba Chandler
Shawnee resident Reba Chandler, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Edmond.

She was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Maxwell, Okla. to Dee B. and Elma M. (Abney) Belcher. She moved to Lincoln County as a teenager. She graduated from Wellston High School in 1945.

She was married Dec. 15, 1945, John N. Chandler in Wellington, Kan. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2002.

Following her marriage she lived in Chandler for several years. She also lived in Bartlesville, Hominy and Humboldt, Kan., before settling in Shawnee in 1967.

She worked for abstract offices and the county clerks office in Lincoln County. While living in Kansas she worked for a credit union. Upon moving to Shawnee she received her realtors license and became a broker and partner in Century 21 Golden Key.

She was very active member of Wesley United Methodist Church as well as the Rebekah's Lodge in Chandler. She enjoyed reading, sewing and spending time at Lake Eufaula.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Kenneth Belcher and Vaughn Belcher.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Richard Rollins of Edmond, Paula and Paul Martin of Coppell, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Laura Chandler of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Taylor and her husband, Ralph, of Shawnee, and Carolyn Riley of Edmond; and one brother, Troy Belcher of Golden Valley, Ariz.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Burress and Rep. Kris Steele officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

Tracy Paulette McCalip
Prague resident Tracy Paulette McCalip, 37, died Thursday, Feb. 1, in Prague.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

John Houston Byford Jr.
Davenport resident John Houston Byford Jr., 81, died Thursday, Feb. 1, at Oklahoma City.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at New Zion Cemetery, Chandler, with the Rev. Lance Stoat officiating.

Burial will be at New Zion Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Stroud.

Robert Lee "Bob" Gist
Lifelong Seminole resident Robert Lee "Bob" Gist, 73, died Wednesday, Jan 31, at his home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Pollard and the Rev. Doyle Long officiating.

Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
