Lillian B. (Pat) Carter
Shawnee resident Lillian B. (Pat) Carter, 84, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 3, at her daughter's home in Shawnee.

She was born Dec. 8, 1922, in Texas to Abel and Ella Grace (Banks) Corgill.

She graduated from Vamoosa High School.

Pat was married June 1, 1944 in Shawnee to J. E. Carter.

She worked at the Douglas Aircraft Plant in Midwest City during World War II and was a homemaker.

She attended Shawnee Faith Assembly for 34 years. Pat enjoyed serving others in life. She loved flowers, gardening, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, parents, and sisters; Frankie Posric, Oleta Boren, Jackie Carson, and Ora Sharp.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Beverly and Roger Banning, Shawnee; one sister, Essie Collier, Shawnee; granddaughter, Teri Schollenbarger and her husband, Lane of Shawnee; grandson, Randy Banning and his wife, April of Oklahoma City; and the joy of her life - her only great-grandchild, Kinley Schollenbarger of Shawnee.

Service will be 10 a.m. today at Shawnee Faith Assembly with the Rev. Kurt Beauford and the Rev. M.L. Hadsell officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Donna Lee Brown
Former Shawnee resident Donna Lee (Truby) Brown, currently of Ada, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the age of 72.

Donna was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Drumright, Okla., to Glenn and Marguerite (Ray) Truby.

She met and married the love of her life, Dennis Brown, on April 20, 1955. They raised four children together.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Donna is survived by her children, Deborah Ritter and special friend, Mike Bourne, of Shawnee, David Brown of Shawnee, Denise Brown Breed of Virginia and Denny and Cindy Brown of Indiana; her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Goodnight; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nadine and Roy Myers; grandchildren, Mandy and Steven Rooker, Jamie and Chris St. Laurent, Jennifer Brown, Denae and Brad Brady, Michael Justin and Stephanie Breed, Colt and Vanessa Brown and Misty Breed; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Zarek, Madax, Riley, Sean, Kyle, Trinity, Tatam, Gage, Dakoda, Jaclyn and Matthew; along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh with Brother John Keeling officiating.

There will be no graveside service.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Thelma Alice Talbott
Shawnee resident Thelma Alice Talbott, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 3, at Unity Hospital.

She was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Lowrey, Okla., to William Mack and Minnie B. (Davis) Harris.

She retired from Unity Hospital after 15 years. She loved to quilt and was a member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Raymond Talbott on April 10, 2004; and five siblings.

Survivors include her children, Carolyn Murrow and husband, Rod, of Freedom, Okla., Ray Talbott and wife, Vicki, of Ada, Linda Dixon and husband, Gary, of Wellington, Kan., and Louis Talbott of Idaho; sister, Erma Roberson of Shawnee; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 pm. today at Gaskill Funeral Home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Faith Baptist Church in Tahlequah with Pastor Kenny Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Molly Field Cemetery in Tahlequah.

Rudy Rolette
Shawnee resident Rudy Rolette, 74, departed this life Monday after an extended illness.

He was born August 28, 1932, in the Econtuskee area to Luther and Ella (Squirell) Rolette.

He graduated from Earlsboro High School and earned his bachelor degree from Oklahoma Baptist University. He pursued his master degree at Oklahoma City University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954 in San Diego, Calif.

The majority of his career was spent in management of manufacturing companies. He retired from the Absentee Shawnee Tribe where he served for 10 years as Tax Administrator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kylie Copeland; and brother, Dexter Rolette.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Georgie of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Leroy Downs, and Rochelle and Billy Copeland, all of Shawnee; two grandsons, Che' Downs of Oklahoma City and Kyle Copeland of Shawnee; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Christine Rolette of Shawnee, Antone and Lorraine Rolette of Yukon, and Gilbert Rolette of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Stan Kaskuske, and Pat and Leon Bell, all of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Neida Rolette of Shawnee; mother-in-law, Laura Kishketon Walker of Shawnee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Floyd Parnecher of Newcastle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Leonardine Walker, Fort. McDowell, Ariz.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ellis Rolette officiating. George Blanchard will conduct tribal rites. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mary Santino
Tecumseh resident Mary Santino, 49, died Sunday, Feb. 4, in Shawnee.

Services are pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Carl E. Satterfield
Macomb resident Carl E. Satterfield, 78, died Monday, Feb. 5, at his home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Raymond W. Bierman
Chandler resident Raymond W. Bierman died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at the age of 85.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

Service is under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Jerry Ray Little Axe
Little Axe resident Jerry Ray Little Axe, 53, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at the Sulphur Veterans Center.

He was born Aug. 23, 1954, in Norman to John and Pauline (Littlecharley) Little Axe and was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.

Following his graduation from Riverside Indian School in 1972, he attended The University of Oklahoma. He joined the U.S. Air Force during his first year with The University of Oklahoma and went into immediate active service. He served in the Air Force for 6 years and was discharged at the rank of Sergeant in November 1979.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Little Axe; two brothers, Floyd Little Axe and Terry Williams; and two sisters, Ida L. Bullock and Delores Johnson.

Survivors include seven brothers, John Al Little Axe of Tecumseh, Jerry James Little Axe of Little Axe, Troy Little Axe of Bartlesville, Danny Little Axe of Newalla, Kevin Williams of Newalla, Robert Williams of Norman and Billy Williams of Little Axe; seven sisters, Marilyn Byers of Shawnee, Sabrina Little Axe of Little Axe, Glenda Sullivan of Albuquerque, Wanda Tiger of Okmulgee, Carolyn Little Axe of Little, Ella Watson of Dale and Betty Morris of Little Axe; two nieces, Jenna and Dynna Bullock of Texas and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Tribal rites were held Tuesday evening at his brother John Al Little Axe home in Rainbow Valley, Tecumseh.

The family asks that anyone who wishes to honor Jerry Ray and his service to this country, please make donations in his honor to the Absentee-Shawnee Tribe Veterans Society.

Billy Gene Riggs
Shawnee resident Billy Gene Riggs passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, in Shawnee at the age of 78.

Billy was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Cushing to Frank E. and Hessie G. Riggs. He graduated from Cushing High School.

Billy served with the U.S. Army in Korea from April 1947 to April 1952. He worked for the U.S. Government at McClellan Air Force Base in California until his retirement in 1991, at which time he and his wife, Stella (Demings) Riggs, returned to Oklahoma.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stella; and his brother, JC Riggs.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Bill Speers of Del City; his sister-in-law, Carell Riggs of Shawnee; nephew, Rick Standifer and his wife, Carmen, of Del City; niece, Laurie Pitcher of Del City; and Penny Porter and her husband, Gary, of Bridgecreek, Okla.; several great-nieces and nephews and other friends.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Resthaven Funeral Home. No services are planned.

Mark Stobaugh
Tulsa resident Mark Stobaugh died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at the age of 27.

Services are pending and will be announced by Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.

Conard O. Springwater
Conard O. Springwater, 81, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, in Shawnee.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1925, in Gans, Okla.

Conard was raised in Seminole where he graduated from Seminole High School. He went to Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma University. He was a master mason for fifty years and was a Southern Baptist ordained Deacon.

He was married July 10, 1945, to Wanda Springwater.

Conard served in the U.S. Army during WWII, The Korean Conflict and European Theatre as a master sergeant and a squad leader with the 504th parachute company and the 82nd airborne division, E-company. He also was a platoon sergeant in the 120th Engineering Company, 45th infantry.

He worked for ten years at Southern California Edison Power Company where he was a broker/dispatcher. He retired after 27 years from the federal government as a Power Systems Broker working on government dams.

He received a distinguished career service award from the U.S. Dept. of Energy.

He and his wife received a distinguished leadership award in 1998 from Oklahoma Baptist University.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; Connie Lynn Springwater Ludwig in November 1995; and two sisters Helen Hart and Ruth Roby.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda of the home; one brother, Bert Springwater of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Lawrence and Linda Ludwig of Colorado; and numerous, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
