Johnnie Norwood Hicks

TAHLEQUAH -- Graveside services for Johnnie Norwood Hicks will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at the Tahlequah City Cemetery, with Pastor Tom Landsaw officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

Johnnie Norwood Hicks was born Feb. 2, 1944, in Modesto, Calif., and peacefully went to be with Jesus on Oct. 1, 2004.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his mother and father, George and Marie (Witt) Hicks; a brother, George Earl Hicks Jr.; and a sister, Jane Hicks.

He is survived by two sons, Dustin Edward Hicks and wife Teresa of Wagoner, and Jahan Hicks and wife Tammy of Tahlequah; three daughters, Rachael Hicks, Sarah Hicks and Audrah Hicks, all of Westville; a grandson, Dustin Hicks of Wagoner; a sister, Mary Lillian Chase of Tahlequah; and many other relatives and friends.

Johnnie will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Wylodean Norris Mooney

TAHLEQUAH -- Funeral services for Wylodean Norris Mooney, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Tahlequah with Rev. Ginny Hathaway officiating. Internment will follow at Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Steve Cumbey, Jerry Shore, Herman Jenkins, Mark Gish, Ron Beaverson and Curtis Norris.

Wylodean Mooney was one of nine children born to Thomas Franklin and Sudie Arizona (Gates) Norris. She was born Sept. 24, 1917, on the family farm near Stone Chapel and passed from this life on Oct. 2, 2004, in Tahlequah.

Wylodean graduated from Northeastern State Teacher's College in 1940. She married Walter Lilbern "Bill" Mooney on June 7, 1942, in her parent's home on the farm. After living briefly in Tulsa, they moved to Bill's hometown of Mounds, in 1946. Their only child, Tom, was born two years later. Wylodean took a job at Douglas Aircraft and it was there that she learned to ride a bicycle. She went to work for the Democrat News and later worked 27 years for the Sapulpa Herald. At the Herald, she began selling advertising and retired as editor of the social page. Upon the passing of her husband on June 8, 1995, she returned to Tahlequah to be near her son. Wylodean loved to garden and tend flowers, watch birds, bowl, spend time reading a good book and especially loved a good game of canasta or dominos. But most of all, her time with her family was the most important.

Wylodean was very active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star and garden club. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in the women's circle and CIHU class.

Wylodean is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; two brothers, Thomas Gates, "T.G.," in 1945, and Steve Monroe in 2002; and two sisters, Audrey Alicia in 1913, and Zona May in 1916.

Wylodean is survived by her son, Thomas G. and wife Robin Mooney of Tahlequah; three brothers, Floyd Norris and wife Tania of Los Angeles, Calif., Dr. Hugh B. Norris and wife Evelon of La Mesa, Calif., and Larry Norris and wife Mary Agnes of Water Valley, Texas; and one sister, Mary Powers and husband Merl of Bartlesville; two grandchildren, Timothy Mooney and wife Amelia, and Audrey Mooney, both of Tahlequah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Bill and Wylodean Mooney Scholarship fund at Mounds High School. The family will receive visitors at Hart Funeral Home from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Mae Elizabeth Glenn-Coe

TAHLEQUAH -- Services for Mae Elizabeth Glenn-Coe, 88, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday Sept. 20, 2004, at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Jack Carner officiating. Interment will follow at the Tahlequah City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Sean Smith, Bobby McAlpine Jr., Michael McAlpine, Keith Glenn, Donnie Carroll and Jimmy Stovall. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ed Glenn, Jim Glenn and Andy Glenn.

Mae Elizabeth Glenn-Coe was born in Welling, to James Arthur and Gracie (Shaw) Landrum on May 5, 1916, and passed from this life on Sept. 17, 2004, in Tahlequah.

Mae attended Ochelata School. Upon finishing school, she married her first husband, Alfred Glenn, on July 25, 1933, in Fort Gibson. To this loving union five children were born James, Donald, Pat, Joel and Phyllis. Later, Mae met and married Ira Coe in Reno, Nev., in 1962 and made their home in California. In 1972, she returned to the Tahlequah area, where she remained until her passing.

Mae was very talented with needlework and made beautiful quilts and crocheted pieces. Mae also loved to spend time in the kitchen, where she prepared special meals for her family. In her spare time, she loved making flower arrangements and working crossword puzzles.

But most of all, Mae loved the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great- and great, great-grandchildren. One of the many legacies Mae left her family was her devotion to God, and the power of prayer, which she exercised daily.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Alfred Glenn; and her second husband Ira Coe; her son, Joel Anthony Glenn in 1977; one sister, Gracia Mae Landrum -Stockton; and two half-sisters, Violet Lorene Landrum and Lorene Landrum.

Mae is survived by her four children, James Alfred Glenn and wife Pat of Hanford, Calif., Donald Glenn and wife Ivia of Tahlequah, Pat and husband Bobby McAlpine of Tahlequah, Phyllis Ilene Glenn Axt and husband, Rodney P. of Broken Arrow; brother-in-law, Don Stockton of Fort Gibson; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 15 great, great-grandchildren; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

Betty Ruth McCollum

TAHLEQUAH - Funeral services for Betty Ruth McCollum, age 74, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Parker of Crescent Valley Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Hendricks Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Garland Eden, Mike Hall, Weldon Rector, Johnny Ray Watkins, Stevie Hilton, and Jeff Conrad. Her honorary pallbearers are Jeff Sparks, Mike Conrad and Larry Conrad.

Betty was born one of thirteen children on July 11, 1930, to Arie Lawton and Elsie Marie (Bolding) Hilton in Tahlequah. On June 9, 1950, Betty and Carthel Neely McCollum were joined in holy matrimony in Prairie Grove, Ark. To this union eight children were born.

Betty was an excellent cook. When not cooking for her family, she could be found working as the cook at the Shack Café in Tahlequah. When she had free time, Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, being around her horses, walking and occasionally traveling.

After her retirement in 1991, Betty liked meeting her friends at Jerry's Café to visit or visiting with friends at Grace Living Center. Betty was a kind and caring person who always had time for a friend. But Betty's favorite pastime was being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities.

Betty attended the Crescent Valley Baptist Church. She passed peacefully from this life on Sept. 16, 2004 in Tahlequah. She will be greatly missed by all her family, friends, and acquaintances.

Betty is preceded in death by both of her parents; her beloved husband, Carthel, in 1979; her brother, Carl Hilton; and one sister, Mary Campbell.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include her beloved children, Geneva and Ahmad Ebrahimi, David and Lori McCollum, Eunice and Richard Wahkinney, Carren and David Hullinger, Frances McCollum and her companion Bob, William and Cheryl McCollum, Connie and Paul White, and James and Dawn McCollum; her 18 adored grandchildren, Hadi, Amir, Mamood, Josh and wife Candice, Hanson and wife Rachel, Abby, Ruthann, Lauren, Amanda and husband Rob, Jonathan, Benjamin, Christopher, Colton, Jennifer, James, Lacy, Leslie, and Dylan; nine special great-grandchildren, Delena, Savanna, Koby, Kyle, Madison, Chryssa, Christian, Janessa, and Benjamin; 10 beloved brothers and sisters, Robert and Jewell Hilton, Earl Hilton, Luther Hilton, Charles Floyd Hilton, Ethel and husband Tommy, Francis and husband Junior, Lola, Cindy and husband Clayton, Viola and husband Richard, and Martha, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.

Wilburn "Mean" Eugene McLemore

TAHLEQUAH - Funeral services for Wilburn McLemore, 48, of Tahlequah will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at the Cedar Tree Tabernacle at Briggs. Officiating will Be Rev. Dale Wilson with Daniel McLemore assisting.

Serving as pallbearers will be Johnson Wacoche, Billy Wayne Wacoche, Robert Leon Wacoche, Larry Mouse, Stacy Wacoche, and Joe Tom Mouse. Honorary pall bearers are Andrew Bird, Leo Bird, Leon Bird, Sam McLemore, Tracy Wacoche, Timothy D. Wells, and Billy Gene Blackfox. Interment will follow in the Cedar Tree Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home.

Wilburn was born Sept. 15, 1955, in Tahlequah the son of Rev. Sam and Mary Mayes McLemore. He died on Sept 13, 2004, in Tahlequah. Wilburn received Christ at the age of 10 at Fairfield Baptist Church in Stilwell. He was a graduate of Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah. He loved to play ball - football, baseball, and basketball - and liked track. He also enjoyed camping and swimming.

Predeceasing him are his parents; two sisters, Kathy Kanatobe and Peggy Perry; a stepsister, Patricia McAlvain; and two brothers, Jimmy and Benny McLemore.

Surviving him are two sisters, Christine Mouse and her husband Tony of Moodys, and Margie Wacoche and her husband Watie of Tahlequah; three brothers, Daniel McLemore and his wife Lucy of Durant, Sanders McLemore Jr. of Tahlequah, and Billy "Stony" McLemore, also of Tahlequah; a stepbrother, Wayne Gray and his wife Winona of Watts; stepmother Joan McLemore of Stilwell; aunt Christine Davis and her husband Virgil; uncle Taylor McLemore of California; a special friend and cousin, Jeanna Hendricks; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
