Joyce Arta Hensley

Joyce Arta Hensley, age 74, a resident of Altus for 22 years, formerly of Kirkland, Washington, passed away
Friday, July 4, 2008 in Altus, Oklahoma.
Joyce was born in Pocotella, Idaho on November 11, 1933 to George Llee and Florence R. (Steed) Nelson.
On May 26, 1988 she married Harding Russell Hensley in Reno, Nevada and they were married for over 18
years before his death on October 3, 2006. Joyce retired as owner/operator of “The Hide Out” in Altus,
Oklahoma and also worked for the city of Altus. She attended First Baptist Church and enjoyed picking
pecans and shelling them and she would give them all to her family and friends.
Preceding Joyce in death was her husband, Harding; parents, George L. and Florence L. Nelson; one
daughter, Christy White; one brother, Bill Nelson; two sisters, Marilyn Brown; June Norman; one grandchild,
Micheal Jones; one great grandchild, Todd Bauar.
Joyce is survived by six children, Pat Jones; Micheal Jones; Sindee Frost; Shawn Leake; Kellie Sinclair;
Kenneth White; two step-children, Rusty Hensley; Berry Hensley; one brother, Lyle Nelson; one sister, Jeany
Smith; thirteen grandchildren, Miranda, Joe, Brenna, Cory, James, Chris, Fawn, Joyce, Lindsay, Stephaine,
Christy, Brandon, MacKenzie; six great grandchildren, Brennda, Shaydon, Tanner, Adriana, Ayana, Adiana;
numerous other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 6:00 pm ~ 9:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus,
Oklahoma. Funeral services will follow in Sedro Woolley, Washington later in the week.

Hensley

Michael Jay Hensley, 29, of San Francisco, California, formerly of Altus,
passed away July 13, 2009, in San Francisco.
Mike was born in Fairfield, California, on June 13, 1980. He graduated from
Altus High School in 1999 where he was active in football. Mike liked to
hunt, fish, and spend time with family and friends.
He is survived by his dad and stepmother, Travis and Jackie Hensley of Altus;
his mother Kathy Hensley of Medford, Oklahoma; a brother, Greg Hensley of
Dallas, Texas, two stepsisters, Kirby and Shelly Broaddus of Altus Oklahoma;
a niece, Alyssa Hensley of Dallas, Texas; his grandparents, Lee and Pat
Harman of Gordonville, Texas, and Jerry and Orna Fay Davis of Sweetwater,
Oklahoma, and Tom and Marlene Colley of Medford, Oklahoma. Also
surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of close and special
friends.

Memorial services have been scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, July 23,
2009 at Lowell-Tims Chapel under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home.

SUSAN JEAN HEUSS

Susan Jean Heuss was born January 30, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Robert William
Bogner and Haleida Floi (Lynn) Bogner. Susan died December 11, 2004, at her residence in Altus, Oklahoma.

She loved to play the piano, auto harp and her favorite musical instrument was the organ.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Bogner.

Survivors include:
4 Children - William C. Heuss and wife Angela of Vernon, Texas.

Killeen, TX and

Isaac T. Heuss and wife Tiffany of Altus, Ok

And a host of other relatives and many friends.

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Velma Mae Hewett

Velma Mae Hewett, age 88, former Altus resident passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Great Plains
Regional Hospital in Elk City, Oklahoma.

She was born September 24, 1918 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Jess and Anna Belle (Dodson) Riggs.

In February of 1937 at Tipton, Oklahoma Velma and James T. McCarty, Jr. were united in marriage. He
preceded her in death November of 1954. She later married Cleo E. “Red” Hewett on April 8, 1955 in Altus,
Oklahoma. He preceded her in death February 12, 1993. Velma had lived in the Altus community for many years
before moving to Canute, Oklahoma to be close to her family.

Velma had worked at Randels Dress Shop, Altus Western Wear, and Stevens Jewelry as a sales clerk for many
years. She was a member of W.O.W., American Legion, and the Good Sam’s Club. Velma and Red enjoyed
square dancing with the Silver Buckle Square Dance Club. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist
Church in Altus.

She is survived by two daughters; Glenda Mae Jordan and husband Leon of Canute, Oklahoma, Kathryn E.
Stillwell and husband Charles of Altus, Oklahoma; one sister Pat Dill and husband Bob; one brother Glenn Riggs
and wife Dottie all of Ft. Worth, Texas. Velma is also survived by her six grandchildren; Thomas McMullen, Myron
L. McMullen, Jr., Tonja Sifton, Dan Tomlinson, Jr., Kathryn A. Cryer and Matthew E. Stillwell; eight great-
grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral Services for Velma Mae Hewett are scheduled for Monday, March 19, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Stillwell officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery
under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends Sunday afternoon March 18, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

Maxine Mae Hicks
Maxine Mae Hicks, 70, of Altus died Monday, April 17, 2006 at 5:00 am.
A rosary is scheduled on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 7:00 pm at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2006 11:00 am at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with
Father Joe Arledge officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Maxine was born September 14, 1935, in Altus, Oklahoma to Mick and Lizzie Elliott. She grew up on the family farm
south of Altus. She attended Altus public schools and graduated from Altus High in 1953. After graduation she
moved to Wichita Falls, TX, where she worked for Ryder-Scott Petroleum Engineering Company for three years.
She met and married Bill Hicks of Holliday, Texas on August 20, 1955. They lived in Wichita Falls for four years. In
1959, Maxine moved back to the farm in Altus with her husband. She went to work for several years at the Altus
AFB under contract. When the contract was completed Maxine went to work for Chevalley Moving and Storage.
Several years later she decided to buy the company and has worked and owned this company for the last 40 years.
Maxine was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church family and has been involved in the church her
entire life. She has been a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
She enjoyed being with friends and family. Maxine loved going to Ruidoso, New Mexico for vacation with her
husband for the last 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charlie, George and Jake and two sisters, Darlene
Godwin and Della Anderson.
Maxine is survived by her husband Bill Hicks, of the home, son, Howard and his wife Teresa of Altus, Oklahoma,
daughter, Brenda and her husband Tim Frymire, of Thomas, Oklahoma daughter, Tammi and her husband Dale
Didlot of Moore, Oklahoma, and last but not least the youngest son, Wayne of Altus, Oklahoma; eight
grandchildren Ronnie Hicks and wife Sherry of Gardner, Kansas, Dawn Hicks of Irving, Texas, Jay Frymire of
Weatherford, Oklahoma, Ashley Maldonado of Edmond, Oklahoma, Elliot Maldonado of Thomas, Oklahoma, Brad
Hicks of Altus, Oklahoma, Zac Frymire of Thomas, Oklahoma, Kelsey Hicks of Altus, Oklahoma; one
great-grandson, Tyler Hicks of Gardner, Kansas. She is also survived by two sisters, Ester Godwin of Mcloud,
Oklahoma and Mary and her husband Eddie Willeford of Altus; one brother John Elliot and his wife Edith of Altus,
Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Luvena Elliott of Bakersfield, California along with several nieces and nephews. She is
also survived and remembered by many, many friends. She really never met a stranger.

Robert L. Hillis
Robert L. Hillis, 22, of Sherman, Texas, formerly of Hollis, passed away suddenly in a work related accident in
McKinney, Texas.
Robert was born November 15, 1983, in Childress, Texas, to Bob and Geraldine (Osborn) Hillis. He grew up in
Hollis and attended Hollis Public Schools where he graduated in 2002. He received his Associate’s Degree in
Electrical Construction at OSU Okmulgee in 2005. Robert moved to Sherman, Texas, after graduation and was
immediately hired by RTS Enterprise, Inc., where he had worked for 15 months before his death.
Robert married M’kale Crabb December 17, 2005, in Hollis. They continued to live in Sherman after their
marriage. Robert loved his wife and dog, racing, fishing, and restoring old cars, one of which was a 1972 long
bed Chevy pickup purchased new in Hollis by his great-granddad, that he and his dad restored several years ago.
Robert is survived by his wife, M’kale, and their dog Boomer of the home in Sherman; his parents, Bob and
Geraldine Hillis of Hollis; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Donna Crabb; one sister, Michelle Palmer
and husband Michael; his niece, Leslie Dawn Palmer; two sisters-in-law, M’kenzi and M’kyla Crabb; his
grandparents, Myrtle Osborn, Kathryn Starr, Violet Jean Hillis, Clyde and Mary Whitman, all of Hollis, and Jeanne
and Mike Rutherford of Blair. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Herman Leslie Osborn, and his paternal grandfather,
Sewell Frances Hillis.

Memorial donations may be made in the name of Robert Hillis at Stockmans Bank, P.O. Box 190, Gould, OK
73544.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at the Church of the Nazarene in Hollis with
Reverend Jim Fishback officiating. Interment will follow at No. 2 Cemetery west of Hollis under the direction of
Patterson Greer Funeral Home.

LaDeana Hinkle

LaDeana Hinkle age 76, passed away Monday, January 24, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
She was born to William Elbert Henderson and Cora Pearl (Oringderff) Henderson on June 24, 1928 in Duke,
Oklahoma.
LaDeana was a member of the Jaycee Jaynes and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
She owned and operated the Main Cleaners of Altus for over 40 years with her husband D.L. Hinkle and his
parents Dewey and Mildred Hinkle; she also owned and operated Deana’s Cottage Crafts in Altus since 1985.
LaDeana enjoyed Bowling, Crafting and youth baseball.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law Dewey and Mildred
Hinkle.
LaDeana is survived by her daughter; Patti Lea Boaldin and husband Al of Corinth, Texas and niece; Stacy
Smith of San Antonio, Texas, four sisters; Opal Burnett of Chickash, Oklahoma, Leona Ray of Hominy,
Oklahoma, Zelma Hunt and husband J.C. of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Doris Wallace of Altus, Oklahoma and one
brother; Carroll Henderson and wife Pat of Bixby, Oklahoma, two grandchildren; Ashli and Audri Boaldin both of
Corinth, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Interment will
follow at Restlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Synott Matthews officiating.

Jubil Jesse Hinton

Jubil Jesse Hinton age 88 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at Jackson County
Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 19, 1917 in Blair, Oklahoma to Mart Hinton and Auban “Jack”(Potts) Hinton.
Jubil proudly served in the Army Air Corps from February 10, 1942 until January 13, 1946 and was a Tow
Target Reel Operator during World War II.
After serving his country he married Oletta O. Brown on July 20, 1947.
Jubil farmed until 1960 then moved to Altus, where he and Oletta resided. He worked at Altus Air Force Base
as a Civil Service employee, and retired in January 1985.
He was a member of the American Legion and DAV. Jubil enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Oletta of the home in Altus, one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Margaret Hinton
of Altus, Oklahoma, one brother Bud Hinton and wife Gladys of Grandview, Washington; two grandchildren
Tammy Wilson and husband Mike Ray Wilson of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Jason Ray Bouchard of Houston,
Texas. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside service for Jubil Hinton is scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Victory Cemetery
with Ardron Hinton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Hallie Hokett

Funeral services for Hallie Hokett have been scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, May 6, 2005 at Lowell-Tims
Chapel with Rev. Jason Duree and Rev. Alvin Funkhouser officiating. The family will receive guests from 6:30
to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, at Lowell-Tims. All local arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home. Interment will follow on Monday at 1:00 pm in the Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia, New Mexico under
the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary in Artesia.

Hallie Lucille Hokett was born September 3, 1914 near Granite, Oklahoma to Gabriel Ardell and Delilah Ann
Elizabeth (Howard) Sewell. When she was about four years old, the family moved by wagon across what is now
Lake Altus to the old homeplace next to Mt. Tepee. Hallie attended the little one-room Mt. Tepee school house
just down the road.

At school, Hallie met her future husband Johnnie Albert Hokett when she was nine years old. She said, “That’
s the boy I’m gonna marry!” They were married October 11, 1931 by Uncle Bert Winters on the Red River with
mules Kate and Beck as their witnesses. To this union were born six children who survive, David Lee Hokett
and wife Winn of San Antonio, Texas, Ray Lynn Hokett of Del City, Oklahoma, Anson Ardell Hokett and wife
Judith of Tuscon, Arizona, Judy Ann Signorelli and husband George of Altus, Oklahoma, Janice Hokett of
Magdelena, New Mexico and James Allen Hokett and wife Cat, also of Magdelena, New Mexico. Also surviving
are 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie; five brothers, Vadus, Gorman, Bailey,
Clarence and Anson; and three sisters, Winnie, Nannie and Rosalee.

Hallie never knew a stranger and was ready to help anyone who needed help. She baked animal cakes for
her grandchildren and many other children. She taught Sunbeams and worked with children in Sunday School
and Church for many years. Hallie made doll clothes, animal pillows and quilts for so many people. Her
handiwork is scattered around the world.

Hallie loved her Lord, accepting Him as her Savior as a young adult.

Hallie loved to bake BNB (banana nut bread) for her friends and neighbors. She took food to the sick,
bereaved and the unfortunate. Hallie was a good mother, wife, friend and Grandmother. She helped on the
ranch, farm and even at the service station with her husband. She was an exceptional homemaker and was
ready to “pitch in” on any job or chore to take care of her family. She loved everyone and everyone loved her
back. Hallie will be sorley missed by the many who knew and loved her.
