2005. Harold was born February 4, 1915, to Ernest Edward and Leannie V. Milner. They also had one daughter,

At an early age, Harold’s appendix ruptured and the doctor said he wouldn’t survive. But God had plans for him
and Harold went on to live a productive life of over 90 years. He graduated from Prairie Hill High School and Altus
Junior College, now known as Western Oklahoma State College. It was there that Harold met the love of his life, H.
Imogene Saunders of Martha. They were united in marriage March 25, 1937. They established their long life together
on the Milner farm south of Duke in the Prairie Hill community. Harold and Imogene were blessed with four children.
He was a lifelong member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, led singing, and served as
a Deacon for many years.

Harold was a very productive person all his life. He was a life long farmer/rancher but also did many other jobs
through the years to provide for his family. In the early years of their marriage, Harold bought pigs and would butcher
and sell sausage to area markets and restaurants. He worked for a short time in a factory in Brownwood, Texas. He
also worked in construction on roads. During the late 1940’s and 1950’s, they did custom wheat harvesting. Harold
also worked for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society for almost 30 years as a field representative and
district manager. Harold and Imogene were both very involved in the Gideons, where he spoke in area churches and
touched many lives by distributing Gideon Bibles in area schools and colleges. In later years, he was very instrumental
in the Gideon prison ministry, going with other Gideons to area jails to minister to inmates for the need of Christ in their

MILNER

With her family at her side, Imogene Milner, age 89 of Duke, passed away late Saturday evening at Hollis.

Born March 29, 1917, in Olustee, Imogene was the daughter of the late William Allison and Lillis Gay (Rorex)
Saunders of Martha. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Milner of Duke and three
brothers, Gordon, Wayne, Ray, two infant sisters and one infant brother. She is survived by a brother, John
Saunders and his wife Florence of Littleton, Colorado, one brother-in-law, Elvin Glenn of Kress, Texas; her children,
Gayle and Dale Ledbetter, Jeanette and Herbert Turner, Harold Gene and Donita Milner all of Duke and Edward
(Bud) and Lynda Milner of Hollis; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild,
many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Imogene graduated from Martha High School and attended Altus Junior College, now known as Western Oklahoma
State College. It was there she met the love of her life, Harold. They were united in marriage on February 25,
1937. They established their long life together on the Milner farm south of Duke, in the Prairie Hill area. Imogene
was a lifelong member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, secretary,
treasurer and organist.

As a girl, Imogene worked in the cotton field beside her brothers and father. At the age of eleven, her mother was
stricken by crippling arthritis. Imogene was thrust into the job of working, cleaning, and caretaking of her family
without hesitation. She was a tremendous cook as many can attest. She won ribbons at the fairs with her cooking.
When her daughter, Jeanette, asked a few years ago for her recipe book to make copies, Imogene said there wasn’t
one. They were all stored in her mind. They sat down and Jeanette transcribed numerous recipes to paper as
Imogene spoke from memory.

The Milner home was always open to friends and relatives to stay. Visiting evangelists always stayed in their home
and were always welcomed back anytime they were in the area. The Milner Home was always the Howard Johnson
Inn for family reunions and nobody ever left hungry.

Harold and Imogene were both very active with the Gideon and Ladies Auxiliary, distributing Gideon Bibles and
visitations. Imogene enjoyed reading, singing and painting. She loved to be involved in any endeavors her children
and grandchildren were involved in, whether it was church school, sports or livestock shows. Her love, patience,
devotion, faith and friendship have been passed on to all who knew and loved her. Imogene truly possessed all the
attributes from the book of Proverbs that describe, “A Virtuous Woman”.

Funeral services for Imogene Milner are scheduled for Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 4 p.m. at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Rev. Gary Paul Baird officiating. Internment will follow at the Prairie Hill
Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

The family of Imogene Milner will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Monday evening, September 4,
2006 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Milner Scholarship Fund
at Western Oklahoma State College, Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice or to the Gideons International.
