Gordon Lee Tabb

Gordon Lee Tabb, age 76 of Lawton and formerly of Altus, passed away on Sunday evening, July 30, 2006 at
Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.

Mr. Tabb was born on August 12, 1929 at Porter, south of Altus, to Ivan Ernest and Annie (Box) Tabb and
graduated from Humphrey High School. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Tabb served his
country during the Korean War and was awarded the Soldier’s Medal, the Army Occupation Medal (Japan),
the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. In 1963, he married Gladys Prestage, in
Lawton, and to this union, one daughter was born. Gordon later moved his family to Borger, Texas where he
worked as an equipment service technician, repairing musical and entertainment equipment. In 1970, he took
early retirement due to his declining health.

Preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wilma Williams, he is survived by one daughter, Diana Goold
and husband Bill of Edgewood, New Mexico; one step son, Larry Riley and wife Darla of Lawton; one sister,
Leta Wynona Blankenship of Eufaula, Oklahoma and one brother, Ivan Doyle Tabb along with many other
relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Gordon Lee Tabb will be on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Ft. Sill National
Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Brenda J. Tamez

Brenda J. Tamez age 46, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Jackson county Memorial Hospital.
Brenda was born August 1, 1957 in Shreveport, LA, to Andrew J. and Annie M. Hall.
She moved to Altus in 1966 and attended Altus Public Schools.
She enjoyed crafts, cooking and being with her family.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Annie M. Hall and two sisters Paula M. Hall and Tiara L. Hall.
She is survived by her son Darryl Allen Tamez of Altus, Oklahoma, currently serving his county in Iraq and
granddaughter Riley whom she loved dearly. Her father and step-mother Andrew J and Rosalyn Hall of Altus,
Oklahoma five sisters; Margaret Shaw of Moore, Oklahoma, Patsy Brown of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sondra Webb and
husband Thomas of El Reno, Shenetta Roblez and husband Daniel of Altus, Oklahoma and Kathy Hall of Altus,
Oklahoma. One brother Terry Hall and wife Cassey of Altus, Oklahoma, One step-brother; Jeremy Harris of Wichita
Falls, Texas, one step-sister, Erica Harris, of Houston, Texas, grandmothers; Olivia Coleman of Keithville, LA, Ollie
Hart of Altus, Oklahoma, Several nieces and nephew and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2004 at 2:00pm at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Marty Barnes of Highland
Height United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

ARCHIE TARRANT

Archie Ray Tarrant, age 65, a longtime resident of Sentinel, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007, at
his home in Sentinel.

Archie was born on June 27, 1941 in Orlando, Oklahoma, to Lee Roy and Lola Belle (Stagner) Tarrant. On
August 4, 1967, Archie married the love of his life, Barbara Johnson. Archie and Barbara were married over
39 years and raised two children. Archie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sentinel where he
was active in many aspects of the church. He worked for Halliburton for 25 years and retired in 2004. After
he retired, Archie became a member of the Sentinel City Council and cared very much about the Sentinel
community. Archie loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In his spare time,
Archie enjoyed caring for his cattle and taking his granddaughters to do “chores”. Ask anyone to describe
Archie Tarrant and you will hear the words, “Archie was a good man” or “they don’t make men like that
anymore”. Above all, Archie was the example of what a husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law
and friend should be. Archie will be dearly missed by anyone who ever knew him.

Preceding Archie in death were his parents Lee Roy and Lola Belle Tarrant.

Archie his survived by his wife, Barbara Tarrant, of the home; his two children, Anthony Tarrant and wife
Shelly of Elk City; Andrea Green and husband Marc of Sentinel; four brothers, Lee Roy Tarrant, Jr. and wife
Carol of Leota, Kansas; Garry Tarrant and wife Cheryl of Sand Springs; Glen Tarrant and wife Margaret of
Bixby; John Tarrant and wife Suzanne of Chandler; two sisters, Rosalie Russett and husband Daryle of
Georgia; Lu Ann Reid of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Raylee Tarrant, Makayla, Madlyn, Matthew and Timothy
Green; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

Services for Archie Tarrant will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the United Methodist
Church of Sentinel with Rev. Norman Wasson officiating. Interment will follow at the Sentinel Cemetery under
the direction of our funeral home in Sentinel, McClure Funeral Home of Sentinel.

Clyde “Richard” Taylor

Clyde “Richard” Taylor, age 59 of Altus, passed away at English Village Nursing Home on July 27,
2003. Memorial Services have been set for Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Melvin Johnson will officiate.
Richard was born April 24, 1944 at Wichita, Kansas to parents Clyde Delbert Taylor and Billie Louise
Hicks Taylor. He grew up in Southwest Oklahoma, and in 1960 entered the United States Army. He
was proud of his military service. In 1961 Richard was honorably discharged and returned to the Altus
area to work as a Bail Bondsman. As a Bondsman, Richard lived and worked in the Altus, Lawton and
Duncan communities. He was a member of the Salvation Army and always enjoyed visiting with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Taylor. Richard is survived by one
daughter, Lisa Bolles and her husband Rodney of Batesville, Arkansas; two sisters, Donna Ann Jenkins
of Altus, Oklahoma and Mary “Lou” Kelley of Vernon, Texas; one brother, Wenfred Gene Taylor of
Tampa, Florida; three grandchildren, Kendra, Johnathan and David and a host of other relatives and
friends.
The family has asked that memorials, in Richards honor, be made to the Salvation Army. The family
would also like to express their thanks to Jackson County Hospice and Jan Winters and Staff at the
English Village Nursing Home.

TAYLOR

Fern Bates Taylor, 93, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the Plantation Village Nursing Center in Altus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2007, at the Highland Park Baptist Church in
Duncan with Rev. Winston Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Fern was born on the family farm south of Hobart on February 1, 1914 to John Ayers Bates and Maude
Elizabeth Cooper Bates. She graduated from Hobart High School and worked in the dry cleaning business.
She married Raymond W. Taylor and moved to Duncan where they owned and operated the Sunshine
Cleaners. He preceded her in death and Fern continued to operate the business until her retirement at
almost eighty years of age.

Fern is survived by her niece, Pam Roudebush and her husband Robert of Altus, and a nephew, John Elkins
and his wife Donna of Mangum. She is also survived by a great-nephew, Scott Roudebush and his wife
Michelle, two great-nieces, Kelley Roudebush Duncan and her husband Jeff, Kimberly Roudebush Picket and
her husband Gregg, eight great-great nieces and nephews, Gant, Jake, Nick and Todd Duncan, Carson,
Mason, and Hailey Pickett, Reagin Roudebush and many other relatives and friends.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents, John and Maude Bates of Hobart, two
sisters, Tressie Hein of Altus, Thelma Elkins of Mangum, and one infant brother, Willard Bates.

Fern Taylor will lie in state on Monday, July 23, 2007, from 10 a.m. until service time at the Highland Park
Baptist Church at 1002 S. 10th Street in Duncan.

Norma Ruth Taylor

Norma Ruth Taylor, 74, of Altus, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Norma was born March 23, 1934, in Altus, to William Edward and Anna V. (Glidewell) Burden. She graduated
from Altus High School in 1952 and later attended college. She married Max E. Cade and together they had
two children, Dan, and Sherri. She later married Seth Taylor and they had a daughter, Tammi.
Norma moved to Florida in the 1960’s and lived there for ten years before coming home to Altus in 1972. She
worked at the Blair Gin as a bookkeeper during the 1970’s. She later worked at the Altus Air Force Base as a
secretary for the Civil Service. Norma’s hobbies included shopping, especially for jewelry, and had a great
fondness for Braum’s cheeseburgers. She and her sister, Francis Jean, loved painting and decorating
together. Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus.
She is survived by one son, Dan Cade and wife Donna of Plant City, Florida; two daughters, Sherri Jones of
Tampa, Florida, and Tammi Taylor of Paces Ferry, Arkansas; six grandchildren, John Christopher Jones, Brian
Matthew Jones, Kristin Michelle Hancock, Stephanie Danielle Hoehne, Lasha Harden, and Seth David Harden;
two step-grandchildren, Leah Glover and Kevin Smith; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Jones, Jillian Jones,
Hayley Harden, and Jayden Harden; and four step-great-grandchildren, Garrett Neubaum, Shaelyn Neubaum,
Taylor Smith, and Keegan Smith. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Max Cade and
Seth Taylor; two brothers, C.T. Burden and Billy Burden; and two sisters, Mary Hurst and Francis Jean
Freeman.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home with David
Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Altus under the direction of Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

Joshua Telford

Joshua Telford was born on May 11, 1920 in Chapel Hill, Texas to Robert and Rosana Telford.

They later moved to Altus, Oklahoma when he was six years old. He began his school years at Lincoln
School, where Mr. Kenyon was principal and later our own W.C. Davis.

Joshua went on to complete the eleventh grade. While he was a young man, he helped Mr. Holloway raise
swine. He would drive a small wagon with a donkey hitched to it, to go and get garbage from restaurants to
feed the swine.

When Josh was old enough he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served three years, where he worked with
the military police. He received an honorable discharge February 1,1946.

After his discharge from the Army he married Earlene Carroll and the marriage lasted until her death.

Joshua started to work for Mr. Melvin Johnson who owned the “Coconut Club”, The Hide Away restaurant
and another place on Nona as it was call then.

Josh, as he was called for short was manager and bouncer and he did an excellent job in that capacity.

He use to tell us, that it was nothing for Mr. Melvin to make three #2 tubs of money on a weekend. He
trusted Josh explicitly.

He was hired at the electric department by the City of Altus and worked there for several years.

After leaving that department, he was hired by the Altus Police Department and the streets all over town. All
of the businesses knew and respected Mr. Josh Telford. He was known and loved by all of Altusans except
those who chose to break the law.

After retiring from the police department he worked for the Altus Public Schools as a security officer.

Joshua met and married Sara Kenyon who taught school in the Altus Public School System. To that union
one daughter was born Frances Telford Pippins of Arlington, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Sara, one daughter Frances and husband Richard, two sons, Connie Gardley of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Clarence Jefferson and wife Marcella of Altus, Oklahoma; seven nieces, Sandra
Smith and husband William, Fredreka Smith of Altus, Barbara Badgatt and Harriet Badgatt both of Lancaster,
California, Rosa Newsome of Chapel Hill, Texas, Paulette Booker of Pacoima, California and Carol Siverand of
Galveston, Texas; nephews, Jerry Williams and wife Ann of Strafford, Missouri, Robert Williams, Jr. and wife
Doretha of Owasso, Oklahoma, Clarence Booker and Donnre Martin of Pacoima, California; grandchildren,
Joshua, Theodore and Jerrod Pippins of Arlington, Texas, Connie Wayne West of Texas, Khaleaf, Kerjia and
Klod Gardley of Clovis, New Mexico, Tychicus Jefferson of San Diego, California and great-grandson Cory
Tenell. He is also survived by great-nieces and nephews are Miranda Howell and Etienne Purefory of Altus.
These two helped their grandmother take special care of their great uncle when he needed them.

Other great nieces are Carolyn Bakkar of St. Louis, Missouri, Valerie Risinger of Oklahoma City, Christina
Smith of Altus; great-nephews, Jerry Williams Jr. of Mt. View, California, Joel Williams, of Strafford, Missouri,
David Williams of Owasso, and Billy Smith of Altus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and Robert Telford, Rosana Telford, Ned Armstrong, Hester
Badgatt, Francis Haskell, Marvin Armstrong, Leon Armstrong, Marie Booker, Mary Williams, Constance Wynne
and Rosie Badgatt.

Funeral Services for Josh Telford are scheduled for Friday, August 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First
Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Diana Terry

Diana Terry was born May 28, 1953 in Tipton, Okla. She was the daughter of Doris Terry and the late
Joe Terry. She died Sept. 10, 2003 in Altus, Okla. She married Raymond Hodge. Diana was a home
provider, a lifetime resident of Altus and Jackson County.

She enjoyed cooking. Her family and friends were the most important part of her life.

Survivors include: Husband, Raymond Hodge of Altus

Mother, Doris Terry of Altus

2 Children: Norman Terry & Dana of Duncanville, Tx

Cornelius Terry of Okla. City, Okla.

2 Sisters: LaDoris Robinson & Kenneth of Altus

Joe Terry Jr. & Gwen of Okla. City, Ok.

Terry Lee Terry & Jennifer of Altus

Marvin Terry of Seattle, Washington

8 Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends

She was preceded in death by her father, 1 sister, Wanda Gildon, and 1 brother, Horace Terry

Services for Diana Terry are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at 1:00PM in the Lowell-Tims
Chapel with Pastor DeWayne Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
