Henry Genaro Lopez, Sr

Henry Genaro Lopez, Sr., 73, Altus, died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joe Arledge officiating and burial following at the Altus City Cemetery.A rosary service has been scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Kincannon Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Henry Genaro Lopez was born December 2, 1931 in Fort McKavett, Tx. to Rosendo Reyes and Paula A. (Hernandez) Lopez. At a very young age, he helped support his immediate family and then later married Lela Jewel Ellis on March 21, 1953 in Vernon, Tx. To this union, five children were born. He worked at Altus Air Force Base, Tinker Air Force Base and numerous other cities in Oklahoma. He worked as a mechanic, including automobiles, diesel engines and bull dozers. He welded and helped build the runway at Altus Air Force Base. In addition, he has owned and operated Lopez Disposal. In 1962, he worked in Sadalia, Mo. at the Missle Site as a minute man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, sheep shearing and baseball. He was a member of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ernest and a daughter Tessie.

He is survived by his wife, Lela Jewel of the home; his daughter, Anita Marie Zein of Dallas, Tx; three sons, Sonny Lopez, Ron Lopez and wife Cris and Genaro Lopez and wife Ofelia, all of Austin, Tx; a sister Angie Yzaguirre of Olney, Texas

Jesse Ernest Alexander, Jr.

Jesse Ernest Alexander, Jr., 80, Altus, died Friday, February 18, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Altus with Rod Smith officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born March 10, 1924 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Jesse Ernest and Rosa Lee (West) Alexander. The Alexander family moved to the farm southeast of Altus when Jesse was a small boy. He graduated from Porter High in 1942. He entered the U.S. Navy in September of 1943 and drove the LCM amphibious landing crafts in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in March of 1946. He continued his education at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1950. He married Anna Mae Cundith in Sterling, Kansas on December 22, 1948. Mr. Alexander farmed the homeplace southeast of Altus since 1955. He was ordained as a Deacon at Humphreys First Baptist Church on July 14, 1957 where he taught a boys Sunday School Class for several years. He was a former board member of the Humphreys Coop and served on the Board of Education of Humphreys and Southside Schools for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alpha Rape and Wilma Thompson.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna Mae, of the home; four sons, Ron Alexander and wife Denise of Virgina Beach, Va; Gary Alexander and wife Cindy of Mesa, Arizona; Lyle Alexander of Oklahoma City, Ok; Jeff Alexander and wife Betty of Wichita Falls, Tx ; seven grandchildren, Patricia Miller and husband Jack; Amy Anderson; Emily Peyton and husband Steve; Jeremy Alexander; Kristin Bosgieter and husband Tim; Tyler Alexander and Amanda Alexander; three great grandchildren, Josh, Jordon and Megan Miller and many friends.

The Alexander Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Jane Clabaugh Buck

Jane Clabaugh Buck, 68, Altus, died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Home with David Lovejoy and Tom Bailey officiating. Burial will follow services at the Riverside Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on April 13, 1936 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Ralph and Faye (Garrison) Clabaugh. She graduated from Mangum High School where she was a twirler for the band and played basketball. She continued her education at Oklahoma University in Norman and Southwestern State College in Weatherford. She was a cheerleader and a homecoming queen candidate at Southwestern.

She married John Buck on December 20, 1957 in Mangum, Oklahoma. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Altus.

The Bucks had lived in Tipton, Elk City, Mangum and Altus. She worked in banking and was secretary for Altus Public Schools for several years. She was Secretary of the Year in 1996 and also retired that year. During all her 25 working years, she prided herself in being efficient and thorough in her work. While working for the Altus Public Schools she missed one day of work, that day being for illness. There was one thing she loved doing more than work and that was giving to her grandchildren. She enjoyed games, reading and looked forward to spending summers in Colorado. She always looked forward to their R.V. camping trips.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1960; her mother in 1992 and her sister Joye Heatly in 2002.

She is survived by her husband John of Altus; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Lyn Hepner of Altus; their two children Johnathan and Lynsey, both of Stillwater, Ok; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lisa Buck of Oklahoma City; their four children, Savannah, Avery, Kinzey and Kirbey; two aunts, Sue Clabaugh of Oklahoma City; Betty Clabaugh of California and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The Buck Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Stella Duncan

Stella Duncan, 95, Altus, died Wednesday January 26, 2005 at her home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 28, 2005 at the Martha Road Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Burial will follow at the Martha Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Stella was born September 23, 1909 in Blossom, TX to James M. and Elizabeth (Wright) Campbell. She attended school in Blossom. She married Clyde Duncan on November 6, 1926 at the First United Methodist Church in Altus. To this union, seven children were born. She worked as a sales clerk at McLellan's Department Store for years before her retirement in 1965. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She loved gardening and yardwork and even helped her family maintain the churchyard. She was of the Methodist faith and most recently attended the Martha Road Baptist Church with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her parents; one brother, Grady Campbell and two sisters, Vernie and Allie Duncan.

She is survived by her daughters, Bettye Brown and husband Lynn, Carolyn Duff and husband Roy and Bobbye Ebel and husband Richard, all of Altus, OK; four sons, James Duncan and wife Doris, Sam Duncan and wife Margie, all of Altus, OK, Jerry Duncan and wife Carole of Spokane, MO and Jack Duncan and wife Anita of Norman, OK; thrirteen grandchildren, Richard Ebel and wife Debra of Dallas, TX, Maria Barr and husband Paul of Springfield, MO, Jimmy Duncan and wife Jeannie of Altus, OK, Kenny Duncan and wife Candy of Meeker, OK, Russell Duncan and wife Sherri of Altus, OK, Mike Brown and wife Janean Brown of Altus, OK, Kerry Brown and wife Melissa Brown of Altus, OK, Deana Ladd and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, OK, Steve Duncan and wife Diana of Edmond, OK, Tommy Duncan of Pauls Valley, OK, Kyle Duncan and wife Lindsey of Oklahoma City, OK, David Duncan and wife Marla of Norman, OK and Derrick Duncan and wife Cher of Norman, OK; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The Duncan Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martha Road Baptist Church Building Fund.

Jose Francisco "Shorty" Bustos

Jose Francisco "Shorty" Bustos, 79, Duke, died Saturday, December 18, 2004 at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the Russell Cemetery in Russell, Oklahoma with Rev. Marty Barnes officiating under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born on September 17, 1925 in New Braunsfels, Texas to Anselmo and Maria (Charles) Bustos. He married Mariana Bernal on April 18, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. To this union ten children were born. He was a ranch hand in Southwest Oklahoma for several years, had worked at Republic Gypsum, had owned and operated the Champlin Gas Station in Duke from 1969 to 1982 and worked at the Western Sizzlin' Steak House in Lawton until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, animals, horses, farming and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Santiago, and one daughter, Rachael.

He is survived by his wife, Mariana, of Duke; three daughters and sons-in-laws, Lydia Garner, Mangum; MSgt. Alice and Ret. Chief MSgt. John Tripp, Newport News, Virginia; Jo Ann and M.D. Cox, Duke; five sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Shirley Bustos, Duke; David Bustos, Duke; Master Gunnery Sgt. Delio and Janet Bustos, Stafford, Virginia, Abel and Anna Bustos of Duke, OK and Richard and Vicky Bustos of Duke, OK; several brothers and sisters; nineteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many friends.

Lawrence Melvin Calkins

Lawrence Melvin Calkins, age 85, of Altus, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at McMahon-Tomlinson Nursing Center in Lawton, OK. Services for Mr. Calkins will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2005 at the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus, Oklahoma, with Mr. Bill Osborne and Mr.Tom Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Lawrence Calkins was born October 31, 1919 to John Roy and Eva Faye (McDowell) Calkins in Edmond, Oklahoma. He attended the Edmond schools. Mr. Calkins enlisted in the army and served from 1939-1945 and again from 1950-1952, retiring as a 1st Lt.. He married Helen Lackey on November 7, 1946 in Headrick, Oklahoma. He worked in civil service at Altus Air Force Base for approximately 30 years before his retirement. Mr. Calkins served as an elder of the Headrick Church of Christ. He and his wife later became members of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus. He was a member of the V.F.W. , D.A.V. and the American Legion. Mr. Calkins enjoyed watching football and spending time with his family, church family, and friends.

Mr. Calkins was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Calkins; two brothers, Tom and Charles Calkins; and one sister, Velma Bryant.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, and daughter, Janis Anderson, both of Lawton, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Terrie Calkins of Tipton, Oklahoma. He is also survived by grandchildren, Noel Anderson of Lawton, Oklahoma, T.J. Calkins and wife, Elizabeth of Weatherford, Ok. and Emilie Calkins of Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Joe T. Cline

Joe T. Cline, 73, Altus, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at English Village Manor in Altus. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004 at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor T. J. Willingham and Clifford Yates officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow services at 4:00 p.m. in Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery , Colleyville, Texas under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born on July 16, 1931 in Prairieview, Arkansas to George A. and Lillian (Neal) Cline. He graduated from high school in Arkansas and had also attended college. He entered the United States Army in August of 1948 and was honorably discharged in October of 1968 as a Staff Sergeant. He owned and operated Advance Signs in Ft. Worth, TX from 1968 until his retirement in 1989. He married Shirley ( Rushing) on March 24, 1990 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, church activities, writing songs, playing harmonica and guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Azz Cline and step brother Clyde Wilson.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, of the home; daughters, Joanie Honovar of Hurst, TX, Susan Drake of Arlington, TX, two stepdaughters, Terri Langston of Amarillo, TX , and Lisa Blackwood of Ft. Worth, TX; three sons, Stephen Cline of Arlington, TX, Bruce Preston of Huntsville, TX and Bryan Cline of West Virginia , and three stepsons, Richard Yates of Irving, Texas , Clifford Yates of Altus,OK and Doyle Yates of Haltom City, TX; a sister, Nadine Hammons of Warner, OK and a brother, Edgar Cline of Columbia, S.C.; twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren and ten step grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

John M. Dempsey

John M. Dempsey, 69, Altus, died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Kincannon Funeral Home with John Bigbe and James Dempsey officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow services at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born October 8, 1935 in Denison, Texas to Fredrick and Viola (Lovell) Dempsey. He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and joined the Air Force in 1955 and served in Korea in 1955-56. While he was stationed in Amarillo, Texas he married Geraldine Newton from Wapanucka, Oklahoma in 1960. He served in Viet Nam in 1969 and as flight engineer he logged over 12,000 hours. His medals include: distinguished flying cross, air medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, meritous service medals, air force commendation medal with one oak leaf cluster, Viet Nam service medal with one silver star and three bronze stars, Viet Nam gallentry cross and others.

He transfered to Altus in 1973 and trained air crews to fly C5's. He retired from the Air Force in March of 1983 as Senior Master Sgt. and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 04876 of Altus. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Kenneth W. Dempsey of Altus; Ronald D. Dempsey and wife, Rhonda, of Liberty, Missouri; one daughter Tracey Lynn Dempsey of Altus; four grandchildren; four brothers; one brother-in-law; several nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Bonnie Lee Elliott

Bonnie Lee Elliott, 82, Altus, died Wednesday February 23, 2005 at the English Village Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. February 26, 2005 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Bohannan and Rev. T.O. Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Bonnie was born May 20, 1922 in Seagraves, TX to William T. and Rosa May (James) Busby. She attended Altus High School through the 11th grade when she started working to support family after her father's death. She married Tony Elliott. To this union, a son was born. She worked her way up to office manager of Chickasha Compress, office manager of the COOP Compress and retired as office manager of the Hemphill Cotton Compress. She was faithful member of the Altus Church of the Nazarene. She served as church treasurer, on the church board, as Sunday school teacher and many other positions. She dearly loved her church. She loved to cook, especially baking her bread, cakes and pies and sharing them with countless number of family and friends. After retirement, she took up quilting and enjoyed making and giving away many to her family and friends. She at one time was a member of the Southwest OK Quilt Guild.

He husband preceded her in death; her parents; sister Velma Busby and two brothers, W.T. Busby and Melvin Busby.

She is survived by her son, Anthony L 'Butch' Elliott and wife Carol of Altus, OK; grandchildren, Anthony L 'Tony' Elliott III of Ruidoso, NM and Bobbie Jo Fowler of SC; grandchildren of love, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Whitt of Boonville, MO, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Bentley of Humboldt of AZ and Mr. and Mrs. Perry Whitt of San Antonio, TX; ten great grandchildren and many friends.

Charlotte Ann Gastineau

Charlotte Ann Gastineau, 71, Blair, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2005 at the Blair Cemetery with S. K. Robinson officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born on October 26, 1933 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Joseph and Mary Ellen (Chilton) Eastham. She graduated from Hollis High School in 1951. She married Ray Gastineau on October 26, 1989 in Blair, Oklahoma. She was a bookkeeper for several area businesses for many years. She was an avid supporter for her husband of Gastineau Racing Team and enjoyed antique furniture restoration.

She was preceded in death by her son, her brother and her sister.

She is survived by her husband, Ray, of the home in Blair; two daughters, Jaynie Yeager and husband, Kenneth, of Blair; Jan Rose and husband, Steve, of Blair; two step sons, Russell Gastineau and wife, Joyce, of Taloga, Oklahoma; Todd Gastineau of Hydro, Oklahoma; a sister, Dorothy Timmons of California; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
