James Alexander
POTEAU — James B. Alexander, 72, of Poteau died Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born March 18, 1932, in Ringold, Okla. He retired from the Air Force and a member of Heavener Church of Christ.
Funeral will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel in Poteau with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mural; two sons, Michael Alexander of Poteau and James G. Alexander of Washington; and one brother, Patrick Alexander of Oregon.

Katie Ollie
Katie Ollie, 78, of Poteau passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Poteau. She was born July 2, 1926, in Poteau. Katie was a member of First Christian Church of Poteau, the Omega Gamma Sorority, a founding member of the Poteau Humane Society, a member of the board of LeFlore County Youth Services, and was affiliated with George Ollie Lumber Company, the Sallisaw Lumber Company and Central National Bank. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Jessie Mac (Schell) Craig; brothers Jack Craig and Baby Wade Craig; and a sister, Bess Richardson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at First Christian Church in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau with the Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, George Ollie Jr. of Poteau; a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia Kay and Jerry Hetherington of Sallisaw; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Mardel Ollie of Sallisaw; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kay Ollie of Poteau; four grandsons, Jarret Hetherington of Sallisaw, Lance Ollie of Oklahoma City, Jonathan Ollie of Sallisaw, and Matt Ollie of Poteau; numerous other relatives and loved ones and a host of beloved friends.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Caldwell, Lee Fout, F.L. Holton, Jim Hamilton, Dr. Dick Winters, Neville Brehm, Bill J. Barber and Terry Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Gentry, George McBee, Steve Holton, Gary Ivey, Dr. Rick Winters, Bill Anthony, Fred Hardesty and Riley Smith.

Don Logan
POTEAU — Don Alden Logan, 70, of Poteau died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Poteau. He was born April 6, 1934, in Soper, Okla. He graduated from Soper High School in 1952, served in the Army Reserves, was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 42 years of service, and was a member of Poteau First Assembly of God in Poteau where he served on the official board as secretary-treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Poteau First Assembly of God with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; a daughter, Le Ann Cain of Lantana, Texas; a son, Michael Logan of Ponca City, Okla.; a sister, May Simpson of Antlers, Okla.; three brothers, Harold Logan of Enid, Okla., H.T. Logan of Soper, Okla., and Rogene Logan of Denison, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be D.K. Isham, Jeff Callaway, James Mathis, Tom Conder, Rob Wylie, Aaron and Josh Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will the Poteau Assembly of God family.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Don Logan at Arvest Bank, 3002 N. Broadway, Poteau, Okla.

George Ross
JAY, Okla. — George “Don” Ross, 71, of Jay, Okla., formerly of Sallisaw, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Tulsa. He was born July 24, 1933, in Akins, Okla. He was self-employed in construction, a Protestant, and a veteran.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Akins Assembly of God with burial at Akins Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; three daughters, Kathy Henrie and Terri Haynes, both of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Tracy Thomas of Blue Springs, Mo.; a son, Michael Ross of Claremore, Okla.; his father, George Ross of Sallisaw; two sisters, Betty Hightower and Wanda Adams, both of Tulsa; two brothers, Danny Ross of Sallisaw and Jim Ross of Owasso, Okla.; and 11 grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Flossie Peck
POTEAU — Flossie Mae Peck, 90, of Poteau died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in Poteau. She was born May 18, 1914, in Poteau. She was homemaker, a member of Double Ranch Baptist Church in Gilmore and the widow of Melvin Peck.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Peck of Fort Smith; and a sister, Tess Tustin of Poteau.

Thomas Ellis
PANAMA — Thomas M. Ellis, 71, of Panama died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Poteau. He was born Feb. 10, 1933, in Memphis. He was retired from the Army, having served in Germany, United States and Vietnam, where he received a Bronze Star, worked in Army finance and financial jobs mostly in California, was a motel manager in Oceanside and Corona, Calif. and Fort Worth, Texas, worked for Jefferson Bus Lines, a member of Green Country American Legion, Panama Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans No. 63 and past member of the 40 & 8 in Escondido, Calif.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Fran; three daughters, Patricia Boules of Camarillo, Calif., Karen Bennett of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Rebecca Conkling of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Deborah Hopkins of Henderson, Nev.; two stepsons, Donald Johnson of Marquette, Mich., and Michael Adams of Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Wooten of Millington, Tenn., and Virginia Wooten of Atoka, Tenn.; three brothers, Richard and Michael Ellis, both of Millington, Tenn., and Terry Ellis of Memphis; a stepsister, Shirley Embrey of Atoka, Tenn.; a stepbrother, Larry Thornton of Atoka, Tenn.; five grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

J.C. Corley
PANAMA — J.C. Corley, 66, of Panama died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in Panama. He was born July 25, 1938, in Stony Point, Okla. He was a mechanic and an Army veteran.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Allie; five children, Carroll, Sandy and Chris Corley and Cassie Sartor, all of Panama, and Pandy Coker of Spiro; a sister, Joyce Kelley of Spiro; a brother, Bill Corley of Coweta; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Kelley, Kevin Lippold, Justin and Andrew Spears, Tim Sartor and Blaze Moore.

Anthony Bernard
CAMERON — Anthony “Tony” Allen Bernard, 44, of Cameron died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in Cameron. He was born Dec. 24, 1959, in Oklahoma City. He worked in oil and gas production and was the widower of Velma Bernard.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by two children, Taira and Tyler Bernard, both of Clarksville; two stepchildren, Jason and Dameon Rogers, both of Fayetteville; his parents, David and Nancy Bernard of Poteau; his grandparents, Roland and Rose Jordan and William Bernard, all of Shawnee, Okla.; a sister, Rebecca Fields of Poteau; and a brother, Bubba Bernard of Poteau.

Gary Hodges
CAMERON – Gary Lynn Hodges, 49, of Cameron died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in Cameron. He was born March 4, 1955, in Beloit, Kan.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Buggy Hill Cemetery in Mansfield under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by a daughter, Kristy Cantu of Mansfield; a son, Michael Hodges of Mansfield; his father, Verle Hodges of Cameron; and two grandchildren.

Keith Allen Ruth
Keith Allen Ruth, 25, of Pocola went to be with his Lord on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 16, 1979, in Fort Smith. He was a construction worker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Harvest Time Tabernacle in Fort Smith with the Rev. Mark Rogers officiating. Interment will be at Heavener Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener next to Big Granny and Little Granny.
He is survived by his parents, Jan and Stan Cooper of Rock Island and Billy and Becky Ruth of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mandy Rodgers of Poteau and Missie Thompson of Midland; a brother, Christopher Cooper of the home; one grandmother, Betty Mitchell of Rock Island; three grandfathers, August Phillips of Heavener, Bill Ruth of Fort Smith and Hudson Favell of Dover, N.J.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and loved ones; a host of beloved friends, many who were as close as brothers and sisters.
Though his life on earth was short, he touched the hearts and souls of many. He was a beautiful person inside and out, and loved spending time with his family and friends, mostly watching movies and playing video games with his little brother. His passion was golf and his hobbies included bowling, basketball, listening to music, reading and serving others, most of all his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle where he loved to worship and praise God.
Pallbearers will be Justin Brown, Keith Haynes, Nick Williams, H.L. Cannon, Greg Miller and Joe Clearie. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Graham, Jarrett Cannon and John Rogers.
The family will be at Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola today from 6 to 8 p.m. to visit with friends and relatives.
Arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.

Jackie Deaton
POTEAU — Jackie “Jack” Marshall Deaton, 62, of Poteau died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Howe. He was an electrician and a member of AA/NA (Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous) of Poteau.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Howe Cemetery in Howe under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by five daughters, Lisa Meredith of Poteau, Judy Chestnut of North Carolina, Kathy Deaton of Missouri, Shelly Thomas and Cindy Gonzales, both of California; four sisters, Barbara Vickers of Wister, Faye Flemister of Florida, Pat Steele of Anaheim, Calif., and Jimmie Nelson of Palm Desert, Calif.; and several grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to AA/NA, P.O. Box 1293, Poteau, OK 74953.

Kristen Tobey
HARTFORD — Kristen Nicole Tobey, infant daughter of Mark and Tina Tobey of Hartford, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, in Little Rock. She was born Aug. 4, 2004, in Little Rock.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Dustin and Eric Tobey of the home; maternal grandparents, Tommy and Shelia Burns of Hartford; paternal grandparents, Dan and Barbara Cheek of McLoud, Okla., and Gary and Pat Tobey of Chester.
A private family viewing will be today.

Billy Hayes Sr.
KEOTA, Okla. — Billy Ray Hayes Sr., 72, of Keota, Okla., died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, in Keota. He was the widower of Sharon Hayes.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Keota Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by a daughter, Teri Johnson of Wellston, Okla.; two sons, Billy Hayes Jr. of Spokane, Wash., and Dallas Hayes of Wagner, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Murl Donathan
SHREVEPORT, La. — Murl E. Donathan of Shreveport, La., died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, in Shreveport. He was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Wister. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad Co. as a telegrapher and AAR clerk, was a past member of Elks Club, Order of Railroad Telegraphers, Brotherhood of Railway Airline and Steamship Clerks, Transportation Communication Union, Morse Telegraph Club and the American Legion, and an Army veteran, serving with the 304th Signal Battalion stationed in Seoul, South Korea.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church in Wister with burial at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister. Local are arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; a sister, Christine Jacobs of Susanville, Calif.; a brother, Tom Donathan of Broken Arrow, Okla.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, LA or charity of donor’s choice.
