POTEAU — John Edward Baker, 65, of Poteau died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Poteau. He was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Port Arthur, Texas, and was a chemical engineer.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church in Poteau under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Dula; three daughters, Stephanie Fleming of Portland, Ore., and Alexandria Baker and Elizabeth Preston, both of Poteau; a son, John Christopher Baker of Denver; a brother, Don Baker of Kingwood, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208.

Charlotte Isaac
BOKOSHE — Charlotte “Charlee” Isaac, 55, of Bokoshe died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Fort Smith. She made and distributed “Charlee’s Beef Jerky” nationwide for nine years before her retirement last year.
Memorial service will be 5 p.m. Monday in Bokoshe First Assembly of God under the direction of Mallory Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a son, Russell Hudson of Norman, Okla.; her mother, Suella Hudson of Bokoshe; a sister, Susan Aldrich of Bowling Green, Ky.; a half-brother, Ron Marley of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a stepsister, Nance Bruce of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a stepbrother, Rick Terry of Azle, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly of God, P.O. Box 98, Bokoshe, OK 74930.

Eugene Benson
POTEAU — Eugene Benson, 71, of Poteau died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Wister. He was a maintenance worker for Wister Public Schools and a Navy veteran.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Victory Baptist Church in Wister with burial at Howe Cemetery in Howe under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by a brother, Ray Benson of Kirwin, Kan.

Olen Jiles
VIAN — Olen Jiles, 83, of Vian died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Vian. He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Boynton, Okla. He was a retired carpenter, a veteran and member of the Country Gospel Church. He was the widower of Sarah Jiles.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Maple Cemetery northeast of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by three daughters, Sue Miller of Bakersfield, Calif., Diane Graham of Houston and Treasa Spencer of Vian; two sons, Jerry Jiles of Vian and Ray Jiles of Sallisaw; a sister, Net Roe of Muldrow; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charley Buck
VIAN — Charley Buck, 78, of Vian died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, in Vian. He was born May 17, 1926, in Nomchietown, Okla. He was a retired construction worker.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Redbird Smith Cemetery north of Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Polly; a son, Charles Buck of Vian; three daughters, Pearl Nichols of Muskogee and Martha Pettit and Suzanne Smith, both of Vian; five sisters, Nancy Quinton, Annie Bolin and Sadie Collins, all of Vian, Marie Dykes of Gore and Marie Davis of California; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris and Casey Nichols, Jason Buck, Tommy James, Ted Fine, Thomas Pettit, Richard Sequichie and Uriah Grass.
The body may be viewed today from 1 to 9 p.m. today and until 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Kelly Chitwood
SUMMERFIELD — Kelly C. Chitwood, 80, of Summerfield died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Heavener. He was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Hodgen. He was a truck driver and member of Heavener Methodist Church.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Hodgen Cemetery under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by three sisters, Eileen Camp of Iona, Calif., Glenda Chitwood of Oakland, Calif., and Wanda Whitt of Red Oak; and a brother, Sherman Chitwood of Summerfield.

Patsy Blaylock
McCURTAIN, Okla. — Patsy “Crickett” Blaylock, 58, of McCurtain, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Stigler. She was a member of McCurtain Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at McCurtain Assembly of God with burial at Milton Cemetery in Bokoshe under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her husband, Milford; three sons, Melvin, Alvin and Kenny Blaylock, all of McCurtain; her mother, Charlene McCullar of McCurtain; a sister, Shirley Pritchard of McCurtain; a brother, Boyd McCullar of Ozark; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Pollard, Leroy Addington, Ken Nix, Jeff McClellan, Casey Butcher and Jimmy Winklepleck.

Keith Allen Ruth
Keith Allen Ruth, 25, of Pocola went to be with his Lord on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 16, 1979, in Fort Smith. He was a construction worker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Harvest Time Tabernacle in Fort Smith with the Rev. Mark Rogers officiating. Interment will be at Heavener Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener next to Big Granny and Little Granny.
He is survived by his parents, Jan and Stan Cooper of Rock Island and Billy and Becky Ruth of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mandy Rodgers of Poteau and Missie Thompson of Midland; a brother, Christopher Cooper of the home; one grandmother, Betty Mitchell of Rock Island; three grandfathers, August Phillips of Heavener, Bill Ruth of Fort Smith and Hudson Favell of Dover, N.J.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and loved ones; a host of beloved friends, many who were as close as brothers and sisters.
Though his life on earth was short, he touched the hearts and souls of many. He was a beautiful person inside and out, and loved spending time with his family and friends, mostly watching movies and playing video games with his little brother. His passion was golf and his hobbies included bowling, basketball, listening to music, reading and serving others, most of all his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle where he loved to worship and praise God.
Pallbearers will be Justin Brown, Keith Haynes, Nick Williams, H.L. Cannon, Greg Miller and Joey Cleary. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Graham, Jarrett Cannon, John Rodgers and Kelly Lynn.
Arrangements under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.

Douglas Poole
SPIRO — Douglas S. Poole, 69, of Spiro died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in Spiro. He was a 32nd degree Mason, retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro.
He is survived by a daughter, Yvonne Lawrence of Fairfield, Calif.; two sons, Robert Poole of Merced, Calif., and Jimmie Poole of Orfordville, Wis.; three sisters, Rita Garner of Midland, Texas, Peggy Herlatcher of Silver Springs, Nev., and Margie Miller of Victorville, Calif.; two brothers, Jimmy Poole of Spokane, Wash., and Larry Poole of Walla Walla, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Roger Brown
POTEAU — Roger “Lynn” Brown, 50, of Poteau died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, in Poteau. He was born May 3, 1954, in Poteau. He was a heavy-equipment operator and a Mason.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown Family Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda; four daughters, Amanda Clary of Hugo, Okla., Marlissa Bowen and Elizabeth Banda, both of Poteau, and Brooke Parton of Henryetta, Okla.; two sons, Matthew Enkoff of Panama and Aaron Brown of Shady Point; three brothers, Tommy and Wayne Brown, both of Shady Point, and Ronnie Brown of Howe; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Johnny Jones
POTEAU — Johnny W. Jones, 60, of Poteau died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, in Poteau. He was a tile setter.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Freda; a daughter, Misty Doak of Wister; a son, John Jones of Springdale; a stepson, Jimmy Box of Fanshawe; two sisters, Pat Bottoms of Fort Smith and Debbie Mead of Hodgen; four brothers, Bob, Tommy, Gary and Pete Jones, all of Poteau; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

William Harrison
SPIRO — William Tom Harrison, 80, of Spiro died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Lighthouse at the Crossroads.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Forest Park in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie; two daughters, Grace Harrison of Spiro and Brenda Pierce of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Gracie and Wynnona Harrison, both of Millington, Tenn.; a brother, Robert Harrison of Millington, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nailor, Tommy and Henry Harrison, Rocky Sprye, Harry Stanley and Sonny Pierce.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

William Paul with mug
SPIRO — William “Bill” Paul, 71, of Spiro died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in Spiro. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Fishing Club, and the widower of Freda Paul.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Short Mountain Cemetery in Keota under the direction of Mallory Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived three daughters, Evon Blackburn of Roberts Dale, Ala., Jeannie Bayus of Bakersfield, Calif., and Wilma Roper of Warsaw, Mo.; a son, Terry Wiggs of Spiro; two sisters, Ruby Sandspree and Maxcene Welch; six brothers, Lee of Foley, Ala., Grady of Austin, Texas, Kenneth of Roberts Dale, Ala., Issac, Ponocho and Robert; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Buffington, Floyd Rasha, Cobly Jones, Ron Chumley, Ricky Morrison and Brian Davidson.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

William Ritter
POTEAU — William Z. “Short” Ritter, 91, of Poteau died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, in Poteau. He was born Aug. 18, 1913, in Howe. He was a farmer and the widower of Martha Ritter.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial to follow at Springhill Cemetery in Monroe, Okla.,
He is survived by a daughter, Bruxie Ritter of Poteau; three sons, Gary of Hayward, Calif., Jack and Jerry, both of Modesto, Calif.; four sisters, Marcella Waymire, Savola Wise and Faye Humphries, all of Poteau, and Jeannie Hill of Howe; two brothers, Willard Ritter of Poteau and Cleo Ritter of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Billy Scarbrough
HOWE — Billy J. Scarbrough, 80, of Howe died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in Poteau. He was born June 21, 1924, in Howe. He was a longtime resident of the Howe area, a retired pipefitter and a member of the Heavener Masonic Lodge and the Methodist Church. He served in the Army.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Howe Cemetery in Howe.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Blake of Howe; two sons, John Scarbrough of Howe and Jimmy Scarbrough of Batesville; a sister, Helen Adams of Howe; a brother, Dean Scarbrough of Howe; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
