David Edward Fondren

Services for David Edward Fondren, age 4, Sulphur, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating.

Interment was in the Oaklawn Cemetery with Cowley-Krien Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

David was born July 8, 1996 in Austin, Texas to Ronnie Fondren and Renee (Pope) Fondren.

He died Jan 10, 2001 in Children's Hospital, Oklahoma City.

Little David moved to Sulphur in 1996, where he lived the remainder of his life.

He attended First Baptist Church. David's favorite toy was Thomas the Train.

He enjoyed playing with trains and collecting anything with trains.

He is survived by his mother and father, Renee (Pope) Fondren and Ronnie Fondren, Sulphur; one sister, Lindsay Fondren, Sulphur; grandparents, David and Linda Fondren and Gayle Pope, all of Sulphur; Tom Pope, Norman; great grand-mothers, Margaret Barnes, Sulphur and Dorthy Pope, Davis; an aunt, Thea Pope, Sulphur, an aunt and uncle, Jackie and Richard Choate, Oklahoma City; two uncles, Richie Choate, New Orleans, La. and Brian Choate, Flower Mound, Texas; and two cousins, TalWayne Scaff and Taw Jaksun and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Clint Gibbs, John Colbert, Scott Colbert and Bill Lance.

Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Wingo's Headstart Class and Mrs. Cassie Todd's and Mrs. Kathy Shores' Early Childhood Class.

Jessie Oxley

Services for Jessie Oxley, 83, Mill Creek were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 at First Baptist Church, Sulphur with Rev. Wayne Patton and Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating.

Interment was in the Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Oxley was born Saturday, March 10, 1917 at Asher to Howard Durin Oxley and Purley Palmer Oxley.

He died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001 in Oklahoma City.

On May 18, 1949 he married Mary Francis Weddle at Gainesville, Texas.

Mr. Oxley came to Murray County at age 8.

He was a farmer, rancher and dairyman.

He was a member of the ASCS Board for numerous years and the Farm Bureau Board for 15 years, and was a member of the Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Oxley is survived by his wife, Francis Oxley, of the home; two daughters, Terry Ann Pitmon, Wynnewood and Tammy Oxley Roundtree, Sulphur; one son, Jessie Dwain Oxley, Mill Creek; his twin sister, Essie Johnson, Bakersfield, Calif.; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, and a son, James Glen Oxley.

Pallbearers were Von Brewer, Phillip Lowrance, John Cagle, Jr., Alan Kirby, John Cagle and Randall Kirby.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Slaughter, Charlie Hickman, Clifford Brewer, Pete Hughes, Dwain Mitchell and Jim Frazier.

Sarah Ann Gillispie

Services for Sarah Ann Gillispie, 94, McAlester were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2001 at Fox Funeral Home, Davis with Rev. Johnny Beckmon officiating.

Interment was in the Green Hill Cemetery, Davis with Fox Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Gillispie was born Aug. 15, 1906 in Indian Territory, Okmulgee to William Nickious Pogue and Nancy Angeline Skaggs Pogue.

She died Jan. 10, 2001 in McAlester.

She married Ed Gillispie. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle Pogue Bookout, Viola McKay, and Pearley Mae Pogue; three brothers, Richard Coleman Pogue, Tommy Pogue, and Bert Pogue, and her parents. She and her husband ran a business in Davis for several years. After he husband's death, she moved to McAlester and lived there the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Gillispie is survived by one sister, Nora Merideth, McAlester and numerous nieces and nephews.

Willis Bert Ontjes

Services for Willis Bert Ontjes, 70, Denison, Texas were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Frank Duncan, Rev. Steve Biggerstaff and Rev. Raymond England officiating.

Interment was held at Drake Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Military service was conducted by the Tinker Air Base Honor Guard.

Mr. Ontjes was born Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1930 in Donna, Texas to William Fred Ontjes and Anna Shrader Ontjes.

He died Sat. Jan. 13, 2001 at Sherman, Texas.

On June 1, 1958 he married Ann Howard at McClellan Air Force Base in Calif.

She preceded him in death on April 18, 2000.

Mr. Ontjes grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.

He served in the Air Force for 22 years in Japan, Germany, Viet Nam and the States.

He lived in Sulphur from 1976 until 1998, when they moved to Denison, Texas.

He was a retired ordained Assembly of God minister.

He is survived by three daughters, Loraine Thompson, Denison, Texas, Linda Chasteen, Broken Arrow and Lisa Largen, Litchfield, Neb.; one son, Bert Ontjes, Waxahachie, Texas; one sister, Wilma Markos, Harlingen, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Matt Thompson, Willis Vandagriff, Wes Kimbro, Mike Garner, Jim Hartwell and Matt Hooker.

Corinne A. Hunter

Services for Corinne A. Hunter, 80, Sulphur were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 at Sulphur United Methodist Church with Rev. Emery Mason officiating.

Interment was in the Palmer Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hunter was born Sunday, Feb. 29, 1920 in Davis to Marshall Montgomery and Ida Lewis Montgomery.

She died Sat. Jan. 13, 2001 in Sulphur.

On Dec. 25, 1940 she married Onnel J. Hunter in Davis.

He preceded her in death on July 6, 1995.

Mrs. Hunter graduated from Davis High School in 1938.

She moved to Sulphur, where she worked for several years at the Klothes Kloset.

She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church for many years, before its merging with Sulphur United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hunter is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Gail Hunter, Sulphur one grandson, Eddie Paul Hunter, Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Barbara Runnels, Sulphur and Norma Jean Banks, Freeport, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Sonny Montgomery and a sister, Bonnie Childress.

Pallbearers were Don Braden, Dr. G.T. Easley, Rick McNeil, Steve Dilbeck, Allen "Butch" Hill and Harold Hunt.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Pirkle, Barclay Martin, Dick Stephens, Glenn Mann, Jerry Mobly, Dewey Runyan, Joe Campbell, Bob Stevens, and Jerry Runyan.
