Eules Clyde Carter

Services for Eules Clyde Carter, 82, were held Friday, July 27, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ with Dan Clark and John Shackleford, officiating.

Interment was at the Drake Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.

Mr. Carter was born on October 18, 1918 in Gore to Elpha Carter and Minnie Lafayette Carter.

He died July 24, 2001 in Sulphur.

On December 23, 1950, he married Opal Mae Thomison in Little Rock, Ark.

Mr. Carter was a member of the Nebo and Mill Creek Church of Christ.

He was in the Army Air Corps. during WWII. He was a farmer and enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Opal Mae Carter, of the home, one daughter, Glenda Kay Bowen, Sulphur; four sons, David Clyde Carter, Sulphur, Dwight Richard Carter and his wife, Jan, Davis, Michael Lafayette Carter and his wife, LaDonna, William Barry Carter and his wife, Linda, Sulphur; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; one brother Ralph Carter, Gore; two sisters, Colleen Anderson, Gore, Ellen Gibson, Winsio, Ark.; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Wayne Carter, a sister, Eula Wilson, two brothers, Ben and Willard Carter and his parents.

Pallbearers were, David Carter, Dwight Carter, Mike Carter, Barry Carter, Clayton Bowen, Justin Beaty.

Honorary bearers were Preston Norton and Ronnie Harper.

Amanda Irene West

Services for Amanda Irene West, 72, were held Wednesday, August 1, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating.

Interment was at the Dougherty Cemetery, under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.

Mrs. West was born Sunday, January 27, 1929 in Dougherty to Charles Saunders, Sr. and Ettner Mae Duncan Saunders.

She died Saturday, July 28, 2001 in Dougherty.

On October 18, 1947, she married Raymond B. West at Lordsburg, N.M.

He preceded her in death on March 23, 2000.

Mrs. West grew up in Dougherty.

She lived in Morenci, Arizona from 1947 until their retirement in 1980.

The couple moved back to Dougherty at that time.

Mrs. West is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Charles Humphrey, Pima Ariz., daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Hanson, Tucson, Ariz; son, Donald West, Dougherty, son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Mary Ann West, Tucson, Ariz.; five brothers, Otis "Bo" Saunders, Davis, Charles "Creed" Saunders, Jr., Sulphur, Harvey Lee Saunders, Sulphur, John Saunders, Dougherty, Orval Saunders, Sulphur; seven sisters, Mildred Allen, Sulphur, Mary White, Canyon, Ariz, Patsy Garland, Sulphur, Jeanie Clelland, Dougherty, Lona Edwards, Dougherty, Betty Wilson, Norman, Linda Trett, Wynnewood; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Queena Janelle Coyle.

Pallbearers were, Bill Edwards, Douglas Akers, Noel West, Joel Mann, Jimmy Dale Saunders, Bob Garland.

Carl William (Lefty) Ham

Services for Carl William (Lefty) Ham, 75, Guthrie, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Davis Funeral Chapel in Guthrie with Rev. Herb Ham officiating.

Interment was at the Seward Cemetery, Guthrie under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Mr. Ham was born January 13, 1926 in Guthrie to Roy and Flora (Wyatt) Ham and died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Colonial Estates Nursing Home, Guthrie.

On January 13, 1944, he married Marjorie Bowen.

She preceded him in death on May 23, 1998.

Mr. Ham lived in this area all of his life. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 45th Infantary Division in the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the American Legion LaBron Post #56, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Guthrie Masonic Lodge, and was volunteer for the National Park Service where he served as camp host at the campgrounds in Sulphur.

Mr. Ham is survived by one son, Carl William Ham, II and his wife, Carol, Guthrie; three daughters, Jeanette Lynn, Noble, Joyce McLendon, Del City, and Delcy Burford and her husband, Michael, Guthrie; three brothers, Herbert Ham and his wife, Vera, Guthrie, John Ham and his wife, Nonie, Edmond, and Charles Ham Seward; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Ham was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randy Ham and two nephews.

Mabel R. Jay

Services for Mabel R. Jay, 69, were held Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Emery Mason officiating.

Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ray was born on July 12, 1932 in Lynnville, Iowa to Case Dunsbergen and Madge Montgomery Dunsbergen.

She died Monday, Dec. 3 at Oklahoma City.

On November 10, 1950 she married Ray Jay in Lynnville, Iowa.

He preceded her in death on December 29, 2000.

Mrs. Jay worked at different banks in Oklahoma City, but most of her career was spent at Guaranty Bank, which is now Americrest Bank, where she as promoted to Vice President.

Mrs. Jay's life was devoted to her family and church.

When she retired she moved to the Sulphur area, where she became an active member in the United Methodist Church and helped with the construction on the new church building.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Kuper and her husband, John, Oklahoma City; two sons, Kevin Jay, Yukon, and Doug Jay and his wife, Mindy, Beaverton, Ore.; two brothers, Cornie Dusbergen, Lynnville, Iowa, and Dick Dunsbergen, Cheyenne, Wyo. and two grandchildren, Clare and Kate Jay, Beaverton, Ore.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Sulphur United Methodist Church.
