Neal Preston Rose

Graveside services for Neal Preston Rose, 69, Davis will be held Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Finis Stillman and Rev. Randy Chapman officiating.

Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

Mr. Rose was born on October 27, 1933 in Davis to John Bryson and Lon Ollie (Smith) Rose.

He died on May 26, 2003 at Mercy Memorial in Ardmore.

He married Charlene (Rush) Rose on May 6, 1955, in Gainesville, Texas.

Neal lived in Davis all of his life.

He attended Davis School through the eighth grade.

He worked in the oil field starting at the age of nineteen and worked there for thirty-two years.

Neal owned and operated Rose Grocery Store since 1982.

He was a member of the Davis Chamber of Commerce.

Neal was a "successful person" and was very honorable.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Charlene Rose; one sister, Philious Whisenhunt, Kinsland, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank, Gary, Joe and Billy Rose.

Pallbearers will be Dick Jones, Bob Wiles, Joe Ray Primrose, Steven Reeves, Homer Ratchford and Wayne Holler.

Glenn C. James

Graveside services for Glenn C. James, 83, were held Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating.

Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.

Mr. James was born Monday, March 15, 1920 at Hennepin to Jesse James and Della Sewell James.

He died Sunday, May 25, 2003 in Ardmore.

He was married to Thais James and she preceded him in death.

He grew up in the Davis area, graduating from Woodland High School.

He attended Okla. A & M.

He lived in California for several years then moved back to this area about four years ago.

He lived in Choctaw until March 2003 when he moved to Ardmore.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in WW II and worked as a truck driver.

He attended the Baptist Church.

He is survived by three brothers, Bill James, Choctaw, Jesse James, Jr., Oklahoma City and Bob James, Teague, Texas; four sisters, Bea Allmon, Sulphur, Geneva Herndon, Ardmore, Katherine Foster, Oklahoma City and Betty Rose, Oklahoma City; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd James.

Charlotte Stone

Charlotte Stone, 69, of Davis died June 26, 2003, at Burford Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services were June 30 at Krien Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Thomas Thompson officiating.

Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

She was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Wewoka to Orvill T. and Ruby (Collum) Stone.

She had lived in this area for the past 33 years.

She loved gospel music and always attended church services at her Burford Manor residence.

Survivors include: three brothers, Tommy of Oklahoma City and Dalton and Don, both of Whitesboro, Texas, and a sister, Betty McColl of Denton, Texas.

Pallbearers were Don Stone, Dalton Stone, Donnie Hasten, Jim Glover, Gary Harris and James Densman.

Honorary pallbearers were employees of Burford Manor.

Services were under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.

Jewell McDonald

Graveside services for Jewell McDonald, 85, of Sulphur were held July 2 at Sunnylane Cemetery in Del City, with the Rev. Steve Mayhan officiating.

She died June 30, 2003, in Callaway Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Gans to Robert and Dora (Bethel) Burchett.

She grew up in Oklahoma City. In 1939, she married James McDonald in Drumright, he preceded her in death in 1981.

She lived in Midwest City and worked at Tinker Field until her retirement.

Mrs. McDonald moved to Sulphur in 2000.

She loved to travel, garden, cook and do needlework.

She was a member of the Wickline United Methodist Church in Midwest City and a bridge club.

Mrs. McDonald was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: two brothers, Bob Burchett of Havasu City, Ariz., and Andy Burchett of Topak, Ariz., and two sisters, Lois Jones of Edmond and Ruby Colbert of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cowley-Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alfred Vernon Wilkins

Graveside services for Alfred Vernon Wilkins, 96, Shawnee, will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur with Rev. Mark Wright officiating.

Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee will be in charge of arrangements.

Born September 25, 1920 in Iona in Murray County, Okla., to Vernon and Elsie Wilkins, he died Monday, Oct. 24 in Meeker.

He married Dessie Lorene Worstell on February 5, 1939, the love of his life.

The couple was married 67 years before her passing in June 2006.

In 1944, he served in the Merchant Marines and later worked as a pipe fitter and a motel owner.

He loved gospel singing and his family.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Mr. Wilkins was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene; two infant daughters; his parents; six brothers and sisters; two sons-in-law; one sister-in-law and one great grandson.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Farrand, Charlotte Kelly and Anneta Hunt; six grandchildren, Carri Farrand, Clinton and Dresden Farrand, Holly and Lewis Hardee, Kristi and Jeff Carson, Lisa and David Littrell and Steve and Cindy Hunt; great-grandchildren, Owen, Emory and Ellett Farrand, Taylor Moore, Brittni Criess, Dylan Criess, Spencer Hunt, and Baylee Hunt Cottrell; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers; one sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Doyle Worstell and a special friend, Nellie Combs.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. to visit with friends and family.

Memorials may be made in Alfred’s name to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, Shawnee, Okla.

Elva Faye Martin

Services for Elva Faye Martin, 93, Sulphur, were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Sulphur United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. P. J. Stewart and Pastor Blake Martin.

Interment was at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.

Born September 4, 1923 in Ada, to Rev. Alvah W. and Minnie Faye (Cooper) Oliver, she passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, in Sulphur at the age of 93 years, one month and 18 days.

She married Barclay P. Martin in Ada on September 4, 1942.

She grew up in Ada, graduating from Ada High School in 1941.

She then attended East Central University and later worked as a secretary for her husband.

She was a member of Sulphur United Methodist Church and was active in WMU.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jerry Lynn Martin; brother, Alva Lee Oliver and sister, Joy Massengale.

Elva is survived by her husband, Barclay Martin of Sulphur; sons and daughters-in-law, Barclay Martin, Jr. and Wynema, of Oklahoma City and Edward B. Martin and Elaine, of Bel Air, Md.; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Mike Martin, Steve Martin, Blake Martin, Cole Martin, Ed Martin and Barclay Martin, Jr.

Honorary bearers were Brian Hollis, Wes Harden, Bob Drake, and Members of Sulphur United Methodist Church
