Roy C. Tompkins

Services for Roy C. Tompkins, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Northwest Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Brock officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 2, 1929, to Ben J. Tompkins Sr. and Josephine Guttry Tompkins, in Fayetteville, Ark., he died Jan. 18, 2005, at the local hospital.

Roy was raised in Fort Smith, Ark., and graduated from high school in Nashville, Tenn. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

Roy worked with the American Polled Hereford Association before moving to Ardmore in 1963 to accept a position with the Exchange National Bank as a loan officer, becoming the first specialist in Ardmore in agriculture lending. He retired in 1983, as an executive vice president. Following his retirement he assumed the position as ranch manager for the Gray Ranches in Oklahoma and Texas. He was also a cattle appraiser. He had served on the board of Exchange National Bank, Sunshine Industries, Inc. and Hardy Murphy Coliseum.

He and Euleta "Eadie" Billington were married on Feb. 22, 1957, in Miami, Okla.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Chris Tompkins and his wife, Nida, Frisco, Texas; stepdaughter, Linda Vinum, Fresno, Calif.; stepson, Bob O'Bryan, Dallas; three grandchildren, Ben J. Tompkins III, Abby Tompkins and Madeline Tompkins, all of Frisco; a brother, Ben J. Tompkins Jr., Prairie Village, Kan.; and two nephews, John Tompkins, Olathe, Kan., and Jim Tompkins, Denver. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as bearers will be John Snodgrass, Chad Craddock, Jud Little, Blake Roberts, Basil Bigbie and Jack McGahey. Honorary bearers are Cliff Brown, Eddie Bigbie, Ben Moxley, Carroll Satterwhite and Charlie Lockwood.

Memorials can be made to Northwest Baptist Church.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Paul Daniel Woods

Graveside rites for Paul Daniel Woods, 60, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Newport Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Gray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.

Born March 14, 1944, in Clarksville, Texas to LeRoy and Era Lena Whitworth Woods, he died Jan. 6, 2005, in Ardmore. He married Jo Deborah Otto Oct. 5, 1965 at Carson City, Nev. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Wilma Wilkie and Ruth Dean.

He moved to Ardmore 15 years ago. He was Pentecostal.

Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Pitts, Howe, Texas; four sons, Kevin Woods, Ardmore, Michael Woods, Lone Grove, Matthew Woods, Huntsville, Ala., and Al James Woods, Ardmore; one sister, Bettie Kent, Phoenix; two brothers, Bill Woods, Phoenix, and Kenneth Woods, White Salmon, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.

Bearers are Harold Julian, Reuben Garcia, Carey Pitts, Joel Pitts, Cory Cooper and J.R. Thornhill.

Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Estella V. LaFontain Nall

Services for Estella V. LaFontain Nall, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Donny Custar officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.

Born on Jan. 13, 1924, in Overbrook, Okla., to Augustine LaFontain and Ethel Patterson Emmitt, she died on Jan. 1, 2005, in Oklahoma City.

A resident of Ardmore most of her life, she was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She had lived the past 18 years in Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her father, Augustine LaFontain, Ardmore; her mother, Ethel Patterson Emmitt, Redwood, Calif.; and brother, Leo LaFontain, Ardmore.

She is survived by a son, Danny Nall, Ardmore; sisters, Pauline Hawkins, Oklahoma City, Augusta Genn, Ardmore, and Ruth Gibson, Madill; brothers, Nephi LaFontain, Miner, Mo., and Billy Emmitt, Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren, Clint and Cody Nall, Ardmore; niece, Joan Shuman, Ardmore; and nephew, Douglas LaFontain, Duncan.

Bearers will be men of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Nell Benham

Services for Nell Benham, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Patman officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.

Born on Feb. 10, 1912, in Stephensburg, Ky., to Sat and Mollie Hicks Goodman, she died on Jan. 1, 2005, in Sulphur.

Married to Ralph Benham on July 24, 1939, in Ada, she had been a resident of Ardmore since 1950, moving here from Hobart. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the John Carlock Sunday school class, and served as United Methodist Women's program coordinator.

She was also a member of YWCA Y-Jills, YWCA board of directors, Retired Teachers Association and was named Ardmore City Schools Teacher of the Year in 1973.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 12, 2000; her parents; a sister, Geneva Hicks; and three brothers, Sigman, Obey and Hubert Goodman.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bearers will be Emmett Hudgins, Cecil Schroeder, Donnie Williams, Eric Conway, Gary Mobly and Wayland Todd. Honorary bearers are member of the John Carlock Sunday school class.

Texie Mae McGahan

LONE GROVE -- Services for Texie Mae McGahan, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Lone Grove Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Brad Clifton and the Rev. Steve Biggerstaff officiating. Interment will be at Lone Grove Cemetery.

Born on June 14, 1927, to Jess and Viola Ross Kyle in Thurston, Okla., she died on Dec. 30, 2004, at a local health care facility.

She married George W. McGahan on Sept. 1, 1943, in Thurston, and was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a homemaker and member of Lone Grove Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 12, 1988; a son, Gary Warren McGahan, and her parents.

Survivors include a son, Danny McGahan and wife, Wendy, Lone Grove; daughters, Zelda Fuller and Sandra Clifton and husband, Terry, all of Lone Grove; brothers, Ike Kyle, Ardmore, and Bob Kyle, Magnolia, Ark.; five grandchildren, Darla Cross and husband, John, Lone Grove, Brad Clifton and wife, Crystal, Valliant, Amy Miguel and husband, Chris, Ardmore, Dara McGahan and Tracy McGahan, also Lone Grove; and five great-grandchildren, Emilee, Wesley and Katie Cross, Faith and Rebecca Miguel.

Bearers will be James Gunter, Kevin Newton, Larry Magee and Alan Vandeventer.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Craddock Funeral Home.

David L. Henshaw

Memorial service for David L. Henshaw, 46, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2005, at Provence Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Betty Bartlett officiating.

Born on Dec. 16, 1958, in Yale, Okla., to Ernest Leon and Joyce Stevenson Henshaw, he died on May 17, 2005, at the local hospital. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Kae Henshaw; his father; grandmother, Opal Madewell; grandfathers, Edgar Madewell and Walter Henshaw.

Married to Cheryl Meine on Feb. 10, 1999, in Fayetteville, Ark., he lived in this area most of his life, previously living in Arkansas, and was a painter for over 30 years. He attended Provence Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Jeremy Henshaw, Springdale, Ark.; a stepson, Calvin Jeffcoats, Madill; a stepdaughter, Michelle Crouch, Ardmore; his mother, Joyce Willis, Ardmore; a sister, Tammy Collins, Wilson; brothers, Ricky Henshaw, Ardmore; Paul and John Henshaw, Arkansas; grandmother, Elsie Henshaw, Springfield, Ark.; three grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in care of Craddock Funeral Home.
