Lila Frances Earl, 80, of Okmulgee died Jan. 10, 2002 in Okmulgee. She was born March 12, 1921 in Kansas.

Services are pending with Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

WILMA BOGGS

Wilma Dene Boggs, 78, of Broken Arrow and formerly of Dewar died Jan. 8, 2002 in Broken Arrow. She was born Oct. 18, 1923 in Dewar to Edward Oliver and Esper (Early) Oliver.

She was a graduate of Dewar High School. She was married to Joe Finnis Boggs on Jan. 3, 1941 at Henryetta. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two grandsons and a great-grandson.

Services will be Friday, Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m., at the United Pentecostal Church in Dewar with Rev. M.D. Deal and Rev. Matthew Martin officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

MARION FRANCES DAVIS

Marion Frances Davis, 69, of Okmulgee, passed away Sunday evening, January 6, 2002 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was born April 15, 1932 in Okfuskee County to March and Indie (Roberts) Davis. She graduated from Nuyaka High School in 1951 and had worked in a garment factory in Okemah. She had also worked with the children at O.K School and enjoyed being with her family. Marion loved to cook, and she wrote and read Creek. She was a faithful member of the Belvin Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, March Davis, mother Indie Davis Tarpalechee, a sister, Lorene Cheek, and a brother Joe Davis.

Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Deerinwater of Okmulgee, a granddaughter, Melissa Deerinwater of Okmulgee, a great grandson, Devin Deerinwater of Okmulgee, a sister, Josephine Morgan of Morris, a cousin, Robert W. Jones who was raised as her brother, and several nieces and nephews.

A wake will be held 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at Belvin Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A M. Thursday, January 10, 2002 at Belvin Baptist Church with Reverend John Buckner officiating. Interment will follow in the Nuyaka Indian Baptist Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Randy King, Scott King, Tony Berryhill, Ryan Jones, Michael Morgan, and John Morgan. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Malayah Renea Carpitcher

Malayah Renea Carpitcher (infant) died Friday, January 4, 2002 in Okmulgee. She was born Friday, January 4, 2002 to Jennifer Cox and Lawrence Carpitcher in Okmulgee.

Survivors include her parents; brother, Mason Carpitcher of the home; maternal grandmother, Cindy White of Oklahoma City and paternal grandparents, William and Cindy Harjo of Okmulgee.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2002 at the Berryhill Family Cemetery. The Reverend John Buckner will of officiate. Services are under direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

MARTHA J. NULIK

Martha Jane Nulik, 81, died Monday January 7, 2002 in

Porterville, Calif. She was born on May 19, 1920 near Wilburton to Arthur Lee "Bud" Hurt and Julie Gibson Hurt. When Martha was 6 years old, her mother died and in 1927 Bud Hurt married Kathleen Rutherford. They raised their family in the Wilson Community. Martha attended school at Wilson and later moved to Modesto, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her mother Julie Hurt in 1926; a ten month old brother Arthur Lee Jr., in 1932; her twin sister Mary Jane in 1935; her first husband Jack Mercer in 1958; her father Bud Hurt in 1961; her second husband Thomas Nulik in 1978; her step-mother Kathleen Hurt in 1995; and a sister Geneva Gates in 2001.

Survivors include two sisters, Lily Mae Tracy of Los Banos, Calif., and Sue Barkley of Phoenix, Ariz.; five brothers, Rev. Clyde and Betty Hurt of Firebaugh, Calif.; Woodrow and Helen Hurt of Okmulgee; Bob and Mona Hurt of Mounds; Rev. J.D. Hurt of Fontana Calif.; and Rev. Bill and Ima Hurt of Lindsay, Calif.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 14th, 2002 in Modesto under the direction of the Wells Funeral Home of Lindsay, Calif.

REV. CLAUDE MALONE

Reverend Claude W. Malone, 87, of Tulsa, died January 6, 2002 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born on August 30, 1914 at Bald Hill, Oklahoma in Okmulgee County, the son of Aaron and Hattie (Lowery) Malone.

He grew up in Tulsa where he attended Booker T. Washington High School. He continued his education at Lane College In Jackson, Tennessee, where he earned a Masters Degree. He also studied at the University of Tulsa and Phillips School of Theology in Jackson. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he played in the 126th AGF band In Fort Mead, Maryland. He was also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He pastored churches in Tennessee and Oklahoma and was active in the Oklahoma-Muskogee C.M.E. church conference. He taught school in the Tulsa Public Schools, teaching Mathematics at Bell Junior High School and Carver Middle School before his retirement In 1986. He was an Associate Minister at Holsey Chapel C.M.E. Church in Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a daughter.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years Cecelia Malone of the home in Tulsa; his daughters, Connie Cleveland, Michelle Malone and Rochelle Malone, all of Tulsa; a special daughter, Linda Dennis, Tulsa, his sister, Mary Luster Carraway, Oakland, Calif., a sister in-law, Hester Malone, Tulsa, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a caravan of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services of Memory will be held on Friday, January 11, 2002 at 11 a.m., at Christ Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 2802 N. Lewis Avenue in Tulsa. Reverend Dr. R. P. Ashanti-Alexander, Pastor of Holsey Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will officiate and Rev. Pedro Givens, pastor of Wilson Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Coweta, will give the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Tulsa. Funeral services are under the direction of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Director Inc., of Okmulgee.

For convenience, visitation will be on Thursday, January 10, from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home in Tulsa. The steward board of Holsey Chapel will serve as casketbearers.

ROBERT MORALES

Robert Morales, 77, a resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, died Monday, January 7, 2002 at his home. He was born on Friday, January 18, 1924 in Phoenix, Arizona. He worked for American Can as a supervisor before his retirement. He married Ursala (Weinand) on November 2, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nv. Mr. Morales enjoyed wood working and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one sister.

Survivors include his wife Ursala of the home, two sons, David and Raymond Morales of California, one daughter, Lupe Meraz of California and one sister, Lilia Dancel of California. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.in the Shurden-Kelley Chapel with Rev. Raymond Doke officiating.

BRIAN D. WATKINS

Brian D. Watkins, 40, a resident of Cushing, Oklahoma died on Saturday, January 5, 2002 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born on June 20, 1961 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Okmulgee High School with the class of l979 and a graduate of OSU Okmulgee with a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. He worked for Williams Gas Pipeline Central in Drumright, Oklahoma at the time of his death. He was a longtime member of the Town and Country Christian Church of Okmulgee.

Survivors include his parents, Harold and Jeanette Watkins of Morris; two sisters, Deborah Jopling and husband Brandon of Tulsa and Cindy Beavers and husband, Rick of Glencoe, Okla., grandfather, Leon Lawson of Okmulgee; two nephews and one niece.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Town and Country Christian Church in Okmulgee. Pastor Bill Park and Reverend Lawrence Matlock will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Morris Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Pallbearers include Billy Lee, Lloyd McDaniel, Wade Mayden, Tom Smith, Bob Finley and Breck Todd.

KATHERINE EUBANKS

Katherine L. Eubanks, 86, died January 6, 2002 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was born March 6, 1915 in Wichita Falls.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta with Rev. Jim Paslay officiating.

Arrangements are under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

VELMA TUCKER

Velma Geri Tucker, 87, formerly of the Okmulgee area, died Jan. 6, 2002 in Oklahoma City. She was born July 13,1914 in Bartlett, Okla., to Ertha Walter and Lulu Sophia (Funk)Powell.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Walker and husband Jerry of Oklahoma City and Dixie Underwood and husband Gary of Texas; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Arrangements are under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

WILMA BOGGS

Wilma Dene Boggs, 78, of Broken Arrow and formerly of Dewar died Jan. 8, 2002 in Broken Arrow. She was born Oct. 18, 1923 in Dewar.

Arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

ROBERT D. HEMPHILL

Robert D. Hemphill, 79, of Okmulgee passed away Sunday, January 6, 2002 at the local hospital. Mr. Hemphill was born February 26, 1922 at Lincoln County, OK to Roy and Daisy (Turner) Hemphill. He graduated from Tryon, OK Schools in 1940. Mr. Hemphill served in World War II with the 773 Tank Destroyer attached with the 90th Division, in Europe. He married Betty Ferguson January 10, 1946 in Stillwater, OK. Mr. Hemphill received a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Economics; he also received two masters' degrees one in Agriculture Economics and the second was in Rural Adult Education. He worked for the OSU extension office for 35 years in Delaware, Okmulgee and Cherokee Counties. He managed North East Farms, he was a Chapter 12 Bankruptcy Trustee, had family partnership called B's Farm Management Consultants. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Okmulgee, he was a member of the Lions Club for over thirty-five years, and at one time he served as District Governor and was also a member of the Elks Club. He and his wife were members of the Circle Squares, square dance club for years he also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and touched countless lives in his numerous endeavors.

Survivors include his wife Betty Hemphill of the home, two children a son Ronald Hemphill and his wife Linda and their daughters Alisha, Angela and Ashley of Okmulgee, a daughter Joyce Poitevent and her husband Mike and their daughters Katherine, Cheryl and Valerie of Fort Gibson, OK; three sisters; Retta Gross of Tryon, OK, Laura Hemphill of Midwest City, OK, Betty Hall of Edmond; two brothers Walter E. Hemphill and wife Bobbie of Broken Arrow, Wayne Hemphill of Owensboro, KY, one brother-in-law Karl Ferguson and wife Ruth of Martinsville, Indiana, a niece; Laura Morris and husband Jim of Owensboro, KY, Nephews Kenny Cross and wife Jeanine of Bartlesville, Donald Hemphill and wife Willie of Palm Springs, CA, Numerous other relatives and dear friends Vern and Pauline Turner and Jim and Jeanette Vaughn.

His parents, and one brother James Herbert Hemphill preceded Mr. Hemphill in death.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Okmulgee with the Reverend Guy Langston and Reverend Wayne Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1189 of Okmulgee and 539 of Henryetta.

The family has ask in Lieu of flowers donations be made to the Lions Club Service Foundation and can be sent in care of the Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be John Maley, Wayne Dennis, Mike Anderson, Jim Moshier, James Grey and James Ward.

Honorary Casketbearers will be the Okmulgee Lions Club Members.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at the McClendon Winters Funeral Home Chapel from 12 noon until 8:00 pm.

CLARENCE McCALL

Clarence "Pie" McCall, 56, of Beggs died at his home on Thursday, January 3, 2002 He was born November 8, 1945 in Nuyaka to Clyde A. and Leona (Doakes) McCall.

He worked as a Foundry Worker and loved to go fishing. His parents and one brother Fred McCall preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters Chandra McCall of Tulsa and Camisha Ross of Beggs; two sons Darrell McCall of Tulsa and Marcus McCall of Stillwater; three brothers Haywood Jackson of Spencer, OK, Clyde McCall of Beggs and Lonell McCall of Nuyaka; six sisters Elva Turner of Nuyaka, Lucille Lunsford of Phoenix, Ariz., Hazel Grace, Mona Selmon both of Beggs, Patsy King of Tulsa, and Checkia Mason of Sapulpa.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Clark-Brumley Gymnasium in Beggs. Burial will follow in the Tuskegee Cemetery in Beggs under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.

Visitation will be on Friday from 10 a.m., until 8 p.m. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs.

ALICE PEEPLES

Alice G. Peeples died January 3, 2002 in Henryetta. She was born March 26, 1915 in Henryetta to Charles and Elizabeth Guthrie.

Alice attended Henryetta schools where she graduated with the Class of 1933. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she has served on the Administive Board, as co secretary of the Sunday School, and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Mixed Bible Class where she served as secretary and chairperson of the Sick and Bereavement committee. While living in Henryetta she worked for Lindhorst Variety and J. C. Penney.

Alice married Lewis L. Peeples in Chula Vista, California on August 14, 1953. In California, she worked for J. C. Penny, North American Aviation and Rockwell International Corporation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Guthrie, husbands Lewis L. Peeples, brothers, Charles S. Guthrie and wife Marjorie, Joseph P. Guthrie and wife Ollie, Robert Guthrie, Andrew "Andy" Guthrie and wife Louise, sisters, Annie B. Guthrie, Bessie Fritz and husband Bob.

Survivors include brother, William L. "Bill" Guthrie and wife Nadine of Tulsa and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Services were scheduled for Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Henryetta with Rev. Rick Robart officiating. Services are under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home in Henryetta.
