George Powell
Services for George Powell, 84, Sulphur will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at First Christian Church with Rev. Roland Earsom officiating. Interment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell was born Friday, Dec. 8, 1916 in Sulphur to James Knox Powell and Maud Frier Powell. He died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 in Sulphur.
On June 4, 1938 he married Wanda Rose in Sulphur.
Mr. Powell has lived in this area all of his life. He graduated from Sulphur High School. He started in the dairy business with his father and in 1974 he started in the beef cattle business. He was a member of the First Christian Church, The Murray County Cattle Assn., and the American Angus Assn.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Powell, of the home; one daughter, Kaye Powell, Sulphur; two grandchildren, James Powell and Jena Ledgess; one great grandchild, J. D. Hickman and one sister, Marie Woods, Sulphur.
Pallbearers are, Billy Frank Lewis, Kurt Parker, Pete Jones, Scott Wilson Charles Johnston and Harris Penner.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Thompson, Harold Johnston, Jack Penner, Bill Chitwood and J.W. Standifer.

Geneva Williams
Services for Geneva Williams, 94, Sulphur were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at First FreeWill Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Ransom officiating. Interment was in the Drake Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williams was born Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1906 in Paris, Texas to Wallace Clark Payne and Lula Bell Lee Payne. She died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 in Sulphur.
She married Duval E. Williams on July 15, 1922 in Sulphur. He preceded her in death on Oct.10, 1994.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, a member of the First FreeWill Baptist Church, Eastern Star, and Red Oak Extension Homemakers Club. She had lived in this area since she was a small child. She had a fabric shop for several years.
Mrs. Williams is survived by one daughter, Kaye Haynes, Sulphur; three sons, Gene Williams, McCloud, Jerry Williams, Oklahoma City and James Dub Williams, Sulphur; one sister, Lorene Carpenter, Ruidoso, N.M.; 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Wallace Junior Williams.
Pallbearers were Jim Parker, Wayne McClure, Wayne McCracken, Charles Glen Leming, Dewayne Leming and Joe Runyan.
Honorary Pallbearers were Ralph Dodson and Bob Seward.

David Bruce Lucas
Graveside Services for David Bruce Lucas, 50, Ada will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at Greenhill Cemetery, Davis with Rev. John D. Norvell officiating.
Mr. Lucas was born Feb. 18, 1950 in Davis to Bruce Lucas and Inez Chapman Lucas. He died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at his home.
He graduated from Davis High School and attended Oklahoma State University, East Central University and Murray State College. He was manager of Motor Sales Company in Ada. He was a member of the Davis First Baptist Church, Davis and the Ada Lodge #1640 BPOE.
Mr. Lucas is survived by one daughter, Christy Sheppard, Ada; one brother, Joe Ray Lucas, Davis, a companion, Jan Scott, Ada; her children, Jeremy Gern and Scotti Carter; one grandson, and one niece and one nephew.
Pallbearers were David Dowling, Bob Kinder, Billy Wade, Vince Lucas, Tony Wade, James Marion, Lon Sheldon, George Paterson and Robbie Kinder.

Naomi Lee Wineland
Services for Naomi Lee Wineland were held Friday, Sept. 21.
Mrs. Wineland was born January 23, 1914 to James Elmer Cleveland and Edna Angie Runyan Cleveland. She died September 18.
On March 8, 1947 she married Ollin Benjamine Wineland in Hugo.
Mrs. Wineland graduated from Sulphur High School in 1932 as valedictorian. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University. She worked as a secretary and purchasing agent for many years for W.L. Scott Construction Company of Sulphur. Mrs. Wineland lived in Colorado from 1947 until retiring and returning to Oklahoma in 1978. She attended Brookhaven Baptist Church in Norman.
Mrs. Wineland is survived by her two daughters, Rae Newstad and her husband, Theodore, and Olline Davenport and her husband, Tommy Davenport; three grandchildren and their spouses, Charlie Ray and Grace Steel, Angie and Greg Bott, Allason and Danny Achtemeier; five great grandchildren, Meaghann and Aubrie Steel, Piper Bott, Ashlee and Rielee Achtemeier; one sister, Oleta Cleveland Brooks; three brothers, J.E. Cleveland and his wife, Letha, Eldon Cleveland and his wife, Bernice and Raymond Cleveland and his wife, Ginger; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wineland was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Merton Cleveland and one sister, Odessa Lannom and her husband.

Betty LaWanda Weddle
Graveside services for Betty LaWanda Weddle, 74, of Ada were held Friday, Sept. 28, at 1:30 p.m. at the Oaklawn Cemetery, under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel. Rev. Mike Wade officiated.
Mrs. Weddle was a very loving person with her first love being her family.
She is survived by her children, Linda Tarango and Larry Fikes, both of Norman, Ann Marie Watson and her husband, Richard, Valisa, Calif; Bill Weddle and his wife, Barbara Sue, Tupelo; Larry Lee Brownfield, Ada; three grandchildren, Melissa Kay Watson, Richard Watson, Jr. and John Watson.
Mrs. Weddle was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Blanchard Weddle and her mother, Mattie Marie Mears.

Nealy Glover
Services for Nealy Glover, 75, Elgin, were held Monday, Oct. 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Fletcher Christian Church with Adraine Smith, Sterling and Billy Paul Eakins, officiating. Interment was at the Elgin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
Mr. Glover was born June 15, 1962 in Elgin and died September 28 in a Lawton Hospital.
On March 29, 1947 he married Ruth Anita Crow in Henrietta, Texas.
Mr. Glover had lived in Elgin all of his life. He was a farmer and rancher and worked as a deputy for the Comanche County Sheriff's Department from 1958 to 1960. He worked for the Postal Service and retired several years ago.
He is survived by five daughters, Kayla Glover, Charlotte Allman, Kelly Trussell, all of Sulphur, Neala Sue Pennell, Mangum and Rebecca Lou Gaddy, all of Davis; one son, Rue Dee, Elgin; three brothers, Jeff Glover, Jim Glover, Jr., both of Elgin and Earl Glover, Lawton; five sisters, Kathryn Miller, Elgin, Myrtle Pierce and Ruth Seals, both of Lawton, Nell Stallings, Fletcher and Mattie McDonald, Apache; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Hattie Glover; a brother Tommy Glover and a grandson, Darren Hale.

Thomas James Coslick
Memorial services for Thomas James Coslick were held Monday, Oct. 1, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Bowie officiating.
Mr. Coslick was born on April 24, 1979, in Lawton to Thomas Coslick and Betty King and died September 28, 2001 at Arbuckle Hospital.
On March 2, 1999 Mr. Coslick married Neesha Allen in Gainesville, Texas.
Mr. Coslick was raised in Sulphur and lived here all of his life. He was Pentecostal by faith. He loved to fish and hunt, ride motorcyles and spend time outdoors with his children.
Mr. Coslick is survived by his wife, Neesha Coslick, of the home, two sons, Tyler James Coslick and Joseph Alekzander Coslick, both of Sulphur; two daughters Shi-Anne Nichole Coslick and Katelynn Michelle Coslick, both of Sulphur; his mother, Betty Coslick and father, Thomas Coslick; three sisters, Monica Carter, Sulphur, Shelly Sumpter and Kathy Sumpter, both of Tulsa; a grandfather, Paul King, Sulphur; numerous niecies and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dollie King, Sarge Coslick and Marie Coslick.

Mabel R. Jay
Services for Mabel R. Jay, 69, were held Friday, Dec. 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Emery Mason officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ray was born on July 12, 1932 in Lynnville, Iowa to Case Dunsbergen and Madge Montgomery Dunsbergen. She died Monday, Dec. 3 at Oklahoma City.
On November 10, 1950 she married Ray Jay in Lynnville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2000.
Mrs. Jay worked at different banks in Oklahoma City, but most of her career was spent at Guaranty Bank, which is now Americrest Bank, where she as promoted to Vice President. Mrs. Jay's life was devoted to her family and church. When she retired she moved to the Sulphur area, where she became an active member in the United Methodist Church and helped with the construction on the new church building.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Kuper and her husband, John, Oklahoma City; two sons, Kevin Jay, Yukon, and Doug Jay and his wife, Mindy, Beaverton, Ore.; two brothers, Cornie Dusbergen, Lynnville, Iowa, and Dick Dunsbergen, Cheyenne,Wyo. and two grandchildren, Clare and Kate Jay, Beaverton, Ore.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Sulphur United Methodist Church.

Eva Lorene Williams
Services for Eva Lorene Williams, 78, were held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cowley-Krien Chapel with Robert Green officiating. Interment was at the Dolberg Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williams was born July 3, 1923 in Roff to Myrtle Ruth Glassgow and Henry Lee Grantham. She died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Callaway Nursing Home.
On September 28, 1940 she married Johnny Williams in Ada.
Mrs. Williams attended school in Stratford. She has also lived the communities of Hart and Corley. She then moved to Prairie View where she met her husband. Mrs. Williams lived in the Roff area the remainder of her life.
She is survived by four brothers, J.C. Grantham, Sulphur, George Grantham, Stratford, Billy Grantham, Brookline Straton, Mo., Preston Grantham, Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Hazel Risner, Davis, Marjorie Shutlz, Statford, Wanda Jean Wynn, Daleville,Ala.;numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Mildred Grantham in 1927.
Pallbearers were Ronald Risner, Timmy Vinyard, Buddy Vinyard, George Dean Grantham, William Grantham and Eddie Thurman.

Edna Elwood Courture Amman
Services for Edna Elwood Courture Amman, 92, Stratford, were held Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Interment was at Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery, Pontiac, Mich. under the direction of Krien Funeral Home.
Mrs. Amman was born on January 6, 1909 in Clarksburg, West Va. to William Elwood and Hattie Guthrie. She died December 3 at Pauls Valley General Hospital.
On August 25, 1927 she married Alphonse (Al) J. Courture in Pontiac, Mich. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1966.
In 1968 she married Bernard R. Amman and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1989.
Mrs. Amman was a homemaker and a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church. In 1997 she moved to Stratford to be near her daughter and son in law.
She is survived by five sons, Edmond Couture, Pontiac, Mich., Gerald Courture, Boise, Idaho, David Couture, Charlevois, Mich. Daniel Couture, San Carlos, Calf. and Micheal Couture, Debary, Fla.; four daughters, Frances Agar, Nation City, Mich., Virginia Deschaine, Davisburg, Mich., Cecilia Noble, Stratford, and Annette Adams, Largo, Fla; one brother, Frank G. Elwood, Duluth, Minn; 34 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters, Agnes Paul Allen, Theresa Osborn and Michelle Couture; three brothers, Donald, Ralph and Richard Elwood and one sister, Helen E. Elwood Overstreet.
