Lucille G. Bell
Graveside services for Lucille G. Bell, 84, Desert Hot Springs, Calif., were held Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery in Lindsay, Calif. with Pastor Roger Altermatt officiating. Services were under the direction of Web-Sanders Funeral Home of Lindsay, Calif.
Lucille was born to Hurshel and Ruby Fiskin July 27, 1919 in Higgins, Texas. She died November 17 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
She lived about 60 years in Tulare County, Calif. She was a retired employee of Penney's Dept. Store. She moved to Sulphur in 1998 after living in Grandbury, Texas and retired from 'Lucy's Little Loft'. She moved to her son's home in Desert Hot Springs, Calif. earlier this year. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Asa Bell; and her son, Grant Bell.
Survivors are her son, Alan J. Bell, Desert Hot Springs; sisters, Jonita Beasley, Sulphur and Jerolyn Hall, Salem, Ore.; one brother, Wayne Fiskin Jr., Grants Pass Ore.; a brother-in-law and wife, Owen and Barbara Bell, Sulphur; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Phoenix Brown
Services for Phoenix Brown, 84, Tulsa, were held Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coalgate with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Interment was at Coalgate Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
Phoenix was born to Joseph Brown and Emma Walden Brown November 19, 1919 in Kenefic. He died December 5 at Ambassador Nursing Home in Tulsa. He married Hazel Cox on May 20, 1961 in Vinita.
He was raised in the Coalgate area and moved to Okema. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Sulphur and attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He moved to Pittsburg, Kan. in 1963 and was a professor at Kansas State University. He retired and moved to Vinita in 1985. He moved back to Pittsburg in 1989 and moved to Tulsa in 1994 where he lived the remainder of his life. He attended the Christian Church and also New Haven Methodist Church of Tulsa. He was a Mason and Shriner and was a member of the Kansas Teacher's Association, National Teacher's Association and the Green Country Camper's Club.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one sister, Ruby Crumply; three brothers, Bob Brown, Ryfus Brown and Harlan Brown.
Survivors are his wife, Hazel, Tulsa; two sons, Dewayne Brown, Visella, Calif. and Billy Ray Brown, Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Forrest Brown, Coalgate, Clarence Brown, Brentwood, Calif. and Arnel Brown, Huntsville, Ala.; five sisters, Verna Henshaw, Okema, Vada Moss, Torna, Calif., Eva Crow, Ada, Lola Conaster, Coalgate and Hazel Henshaw, Clovis, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Coalgate Masonic Lodge members.

Evelyn Joy Bruno
Services for Evelyn Joy Bruno, 69, Oklahoma City, were held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
Evelyn was born to Edgar and Faye Young Harbinson on September 11, 1934 in Oklahoma City. She died December 7 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Evelyn grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Oklahoma City schools. She lived in several areas, including Davis, before returning to Oklahoma City.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors are one daughter, Sarah Jane Synnott, Oklahoma City; two granddaughters, Gina Faye Synnott and Melissa Ruth Synnott; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Synnott and Nathan Christopher Synnott; a brother, Larry Campbell and wife, Vickie; one niece; one nephew; and several cousins.

Karen Renea Maytubby
Services for Karen Renea Maytubby, 46, Lone Grove, were held Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Frank Trent and Rev. Dewain Duck officiating. Interment was at Mill Creek Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Karen was born to Joseph Ray Brewer and Helen Lucille Rose Brewer on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1957 in Wichita, Kan. She died Friday, Dec. 5 in Ardmore. She married Stanley Maytubby June 1, 1974 in Mill Creek.
She moved to Mill Creek as a child and attended Mill Creek schools. She lived in Love Grove for the past few years. She was affiliated with Bethel Assembly of God Church and worked as a manager.
Preceding her in death were her mother and one child.
Survivors are her husband; daughter and son-in-law, Cassandria and Kevin Carter, Ardmore; a son and daughter-in-law, Shon and Debbie Maytubby, Ardmore; her father and step-mother, Ray and Doris Brewer, Sulphur; a brother, Ed Henley, Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Alandra Needham, Dallas, Texas; one grandchild, Brooklin Maytubby and three step-grandchildren, Catelyn, Kayla and Kyle Oliver.
Pallbearers were Boyd Vestal, Mark Cobble, Dean Ross, Ronald Aduddell, Tim Stinson and Scott Clark.

Effie A. Holder
Services for Effie A. Holder, 88, Mill Creek, were held Thursday, Dec. 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek with Artie Quinton and Rev. Jerry George officiating.
Interment will be at Mill Creek Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
Effie was born to Preston H. Hughes and Annie V. Clement Hughes on August 8, 1915 at Dolberg. She died December 9 at Pauls Valley. She married Gould Holder March 3, 1934 in Sulphur. He preceded her in death March 17, 1972.
She grew up in the Dolberg and Roff areas and attended school at Dolberg. She lived in the Mill Creek area most of her adult life and was a housewife. She was affiliated with the Mill Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; and one sister.
Survivors are her daughter, Ailene Ferguson, Oklahoma City; son, George Holder, Mill Creek; grandchild, Jay Taylor; great-grandchildren, Makenzi Taylor and Amber Ferguson; great-great-grandchild, Elijah Ferguson; three brothers, Dan Hughes, Pete Hughes and Rocky Hughes, all of Sulphur; two sisters, Dorothy J. Pruitt, Stratford and Ruby Whetsel, Clovis, Calif.
Pallbearers were Guy Combes, Heath Hancock, Byron Hancock, Dan Hughes, Don Hughes and Clifford Hughes.

Franklin Pierre Sloan
Services for Franklin Pierre Sloan, 81, Sulphur, were held January 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ with Tom Byrd and Richard Day officiating. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
Pierre was born to Frank and Fannie Bertrand Sloan July 30, 1922 in Wewoka. He died January 21 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore. He married Bernice Hail September 11, 1948 in Gardenville, Nev.
He was born and raised in Wewoka. After serving in the Army during WWII, he lived in New Model and California. He then moved to Sulphur in 1953. He moved to Healdton then moved back to Sulphur in 1980 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was deacon of the Church of Christ for 27 years and worked for OG&E for 25 years. He was also a cabinet maker.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, four sisters and one brother.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Lynell and wife, Lois, Larry and wife, Trisha and Randy Sloan, all of Sulphur; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dow Fisher, Sulphur and Oscar Sloan, Luther; two sisters, Early Freiley and Nadine Southern, both of Shawnee; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Jason Stratton, Josh Sloan, Chad Sloan, Chris Brawley, Cody Brawley and Jeritt Larson.

Philip B. Smith
Dr. Philip B. Smith, formally of Canon City, Colo. died Jan. 8, 2004 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He was born in Sulphur, Okla. in 1922 to Charley S. and Nova Smith.
He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1940, and attended the University of Oklahoma. He joined the Navy in 1941 and served during World War II. He returned to OU and graduated from the University of Oklahoma Medical School, and through post-graduate worked was a diplomat of the Menninger School of Psychiatry in Topeka, Kansas.
In 1949, he married Colita Nuerenberger and they raised three children, Paul Corby, Hanna Jo, and Benjamin V. Smith.
Dr. Smith was a Captain in the United States Public Health Service early in his career, and took the family to Illinois, Puerto Rico, and Florida. After he studied at Menninger's in Topeka, Kan., his career took the family to California, Washington, and Michigan, where he became the Director of the Michigan State Hospital in Traverse City, MI.
In 1983, he and his wife, Colita, retired to Canon City, Colo., where he was an avid gardener and supporter of environmental and art organizations. The Smiths were active in a local bridge club and the Democratic Party.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Charles H. "Ted" and Mary Ann Smith, of Canon City, Colo., and his three children and four grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 19, 2002.
No services were held. His remains were gifted to the Univ. of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI. A family memorial will be held for him and his wife, Colita, next summer in Traverse City, MI. Condolences may be sent in care of Dr. Paul C. Smith, 1163 10th St., Martin, MI 49070.

Jack Stidham
Services for Jack Stidham, 69, Sedan, Kan., were held Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sedan, Kan. with Rev. Charles Klassen officiating. Graveside services were Wednesday, Jan. 28 at the Hickory Cemetery under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan, Kan.
Jack was born to George W. and Donnie Brandon Stidham on February 24, 1934 in Hickory. He died Saturday, Jan. 24 at Sedan City Hospital in Sedan, Kan. He married Sue Brooks November 3, 1957 in Gainesville, Texas.
He grew up and attended school in Hickory. After graduating, he served two years in the U.S. Army. After his discharge in 1956, he spent five months caring for his mother, who was fighting cancer. As a boy, he showed cattle at stock shows and at the age of 14 he worked his first job on the Turner Ranch. After marriage, he and Sue made their home in Lone Oak, Texas where he worked for the McNutt Ranch. In 1958 they moved to the Flying L. Ranch in Davis. In 1959 they moved to Honey Creek Ranch at Grove where he fitted and showed 30 champions, 20 reserve champions and 171 first places in major cattle shows across the United States. In 1970 they moved to Stryker Hereford Ranch at Fredonia, Kan. While there, he showed the National Champion Carload in 1971 and in 1972 and was chosen as Herdsman of the Year and sold the highest priced bull to ever sell on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. In 1975 they moved to the Staats Ranch at Sedan where Jack worked until retiring in 1998. Following his retirement, they moved to their home in Sedan. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan, Kan.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Tim and LeMecia Stidham, Stillwater and Tony and Lana Stidham, Independence, Kan.; one brother, George Stidham, Coweta; six grandchildren, Emily, Shelby, Kayla and Colt Stidham, all of Stillwater and Augusta and Amanda Stidham, both of Independence, Kan.
The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church in Sedan or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice S.E.K. Division; contribution may be left with the funeral home.

Dwayne Fullerton
Services for Dwayne Fullerton, 66, Plano, Texas, formerly of Davis, were held Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Johnson and Junior Thomas officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
Dwayne was born to Venus and Lucille Tyner Fullerton January 10, 1938 in Davis. He died January 25 at North Central Medical Center in McKinney, Texas. He married Charlene Rogers May 14, 1960 in Davis.
He grew up in Davis and graduated from Davis High School. He moved to Plano, Texas in 1968. He was a building contractor and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Steve Fullerton and wife, Debbie, Plano; three brothers, Vandon Fullerton, Norman, Jerry Don and Gary Dale Fullerton, both of Davis; one sister, Mary Fletcher, Davis; three grandchildren, Racheal, Jacob and Benjamin Fullerton; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jeremy and Dale Fullerton, Mike, Mark, Jason, Jeff and Darin Rogers and Brian England.

Frances Peoples
Graveside services for Frances Peoples, 86, Madill, were held January 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Drake Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
Frances was born to Joe Donato and Josephine Antuna March 6, 1917 in Magnolia, Texas. She died January 25 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City.
She was born and raised in Magnolia, Texas. She later moved to Elmore City and in 1942 she moved to Sulphur. In 1960 she moved to Madill where she lived the remainder of her life.
Preceding her in death were her mother, father, four sisters, two brothers and one daughter, Helen Ruth Thomison.
Survivors are one son, Dean Thomison and wife, Jammie, Sulphur; two daughters, Pat and husband, Homer Parker, Madill and Angela and husband, Don Thomison, Denton, Texas; and one brother, Gabrial Antuna, Edmond.
